Doing justice to the bass as always, Erik. Nice to see Darkglass always pushing themselves to the next frontier. Cheers from Colombia!
Thank you man!! That means so much to hear! :) Cheers from Sweden!
@@erikarko Always a pleasure!
put the b3 or b7 series in front of this or after its pretty amazing to use both
Great demo showing all the features! \m/
Thanks bro!
Basically Parallax in a pedal? I like how the distortion can be completely turned off too
Yeah, exactly.
Or is Parallax the X in a plugin?! 🤯🤯🤯
😃😃😃😃😃
BurntBassMan HOW DID WE END UP IN THE MATRIX?!
BurntBassMan Hahahaha😂
Great demo as usual Erik. I knew it was only a matter of time before an Ultra version in the X series was going to offered by Darkglass. It sounds awesome. I want one.
Dude, it’s KILLER! :)
Dang. 8:00-8:25 just sold me on this pedal. Great demo, thanks.
Awesome!!!
Very nice demo, thanks man !
Thanks bro!!
Cool demo, erik. \m/ darkglass makes such awesome pedals.
Thanks! Agreed!!
great demo, thank you for this, but why is it that majority of the time when you engage the distortion it gets considerably quieter? and you also didn't hold the bypass function for 3 seconds to activate the low comp to the eq as well. but that aside thank you for the video
Well, you said it yourself: it was due to the compressor being disengaged :) Honestly, I didn’t know about the “Hold the Bypass switch”-function until AFTER I had posted my video 😂 So much for not reading the manual and just jumping head first into it!
Was thinking to buy parallax with hx stomp as interface. But then this come out, when i already have alpha omega ultra. So, what do you suggest, getting x ultra or go with parallax?
Gita Widhasmara Hmm.. that’s a very good question! IMHO it’s easier to have a pedal rather than a computer + interface live - but using the Stomp as an interface is actually a pretty darn good idea. Let me get back to you with a proper reply when I’ve thought about it a bit :)
@@erikarko yess please. I was thinking to use hx stomp as interface mainly because i can use it as a ...well... stomp mfx for when i have live session. But it seems that x ultra covers the sound i want, including that blue led compressor.
Great demo! Showing what all the knobs do in stead of just telling us. But please, PLEASE tell me the pedal is as silent as it sounds, and not because of clever editing. My one grievance with the AOU was the insane amount of hiss with the 3&5K sliders just a little bit boosted. Please tell me the MXU really is this silent!
EvilBlakey The only post production that I did was a low cut at 64hz! I DID master the entire track - but that oughta add noise (due to the compression) and not the other way around :)
@@erikarko Amazing, thanks for the reply! Seems like the MXU might kick the AOU and noise gate off my board :D
Noise could have something to do with your power supply & your signal chain. Isolated power supplies like the ones from Voodoo Lab or Strymon will definitely help keeping the noise to a minimum.
@@XiyuYang No, my power is fine. The hiss is a common problem with the AOU due to the eq, a problem not replicated with the B7KU which also has a 5k knob
What frequencies do you have the filters set at the start of the video?
Right between 250 and 500hz on the bass (almost 2 o clock) and at 3 o clock on the high pass :)
Hi, I noticed you have tested the ebs microbass 3 as well. Can you share your experiences with comparing both in a few words? I was about to buy the EBS but I saw this Darkglass new pedal and I am really in doubt now.
Hi man! IMHO, it all comes down to the flavour of the distortion of the pedals, really. They both are GREAT. I have a preamp comparison video in which I’m comparing the MB3 to the X7, which is pretty darn close to the X Ultra in terms of features etc :) Maybe that video can be helpful (in case you haven’t seen it already :))
Cant hear the bass. Good demo 😂
Try headphones..?
That was an awesome intro riff!!! Great demo. It’s nice to one without a fanned fret bass and pick for a change
drkangel1134 Thanks!!!
Do you use this live with the darkglass head? Since they have the same pre amp does one EQ just stay flat?
SpivelzCA Hi! Pretty much so, yes! I MIGHT use the head EQ to cut away some additional highs etc :)
Feck I love your content. Those attitude basses are killer (much like the price tag), there’s one in a shop local to me that I pine for so hard.
Thanks bro!!
Yeah - they’re pricey but AWESOME!!
Erik Arkö when it comes time for me to get (be able to afford) that P-on-steroids tone in my stable, the attitude is the only bass that’ll fit the bill. I’ve got my fantastic 60USD Kent medium scale P with rounds on it for the general P-ness (heh) and I’m building standard scale that I’ll use a J neck and flats with mutes for the Motown sound, but the rock/metal P slot needs to be filled one day
pretty fast ;)
Be quick or be late! ;)
best sounds around that 9 minute mark
sounds like geddys rickenbacker =)
