Yea, other UA-camrs I follow talk about how UA-cam suppresses their content & they either do separate channels for specific content or they just stop loading to UA-cam period & pursue other social platforms for better engagement and/ or revenue. Hope the new channel ends up being prosperous & all the best to you!
Thank you very much for your well-wishes. Yeah, that's what also brought it to my attention. I'm not one for getting into analytics and worrying too much about that side of things, but when I heard about how the algorithm can actually suppress your content as well as promote it, then you're essentially fighting an un-winnable war unless you adhere to the system.

FWIW I did discover your original work via your reaction/analysis videos, initially the Japanese bands. Actually, your own music is the biggest discovery I've made via your channel so far (I'm making a very self-indulgent Top N songs list for rateyourmusic, and Behind the Facade will be on it). *But*... I only discovered it because I went looking for it after hearing your intro. I don't recall the UA-cam algorithm pointing me at your original music, even though I'm a subscriber.
That's really cool of you, thank you! Originally, with the amount of subscribers I have on this channel, I naively thought that many more people would click on my original music uploads (out of curiosity, if nothing else). But it largely goes ignored. That's fine, I guess, if people originally subscribed for A/R content. But my decision to branch out the content needs to happen to hopefully prevent further damage to this channels reach with new A/R content, since YT is currently punishing my future videos when a non A/R video gets low engagement.
Anyway, it's pretty demoralising to have to start over from scratch with my original music and piano performances on new channels, as I put a lot of work into that stuff, but the YT system is what it is. It seems I can't do anything to change that. Thanks again for taking the time to let me know your pov, and for your support! :)

The new direction makes more sense to be honest. Drawing eyeballs to reactions with the hope of then selling that audience on something different than what they came to see is always a dicey proposition. It also doesn’t help that for the most part, people are seeking out reactions to stuff they already like/love to see what reactors have to say about it. There are exceptions of course, but I think that general approach is why reaction channels are so homogenized, where the more well known channels are all basically reacting to the same songs as the others. And that comes back to my original point… if people are really just interested in what you have to say about their favorite bands and songs, even if they subscribe they’re probably not interested in your other content.
All that said, I wish you the best with your new channels and more focused direction.
Thank you. I agree. Although the channel originally started as a platform for my original music. So really it would have made more sense for me to create a new channel for the Reaction content when I started to create that kind of material. But at the time I started doing it I had no idea it would take off or that I would continue doing it for any length of time.

I think the algorithim worksnin a strange way. My understanding is that if you are subscribed to a channel but dont engage with lots of the content then the video doesn't even come up in your feed unless you start to watch something frkm the channel again.
Strange way of doing things but such is the way of the algorithim. Hope the new channels help with the engagement of this one.
