Nice one JQ! Great to sit down and eat some ramen with you! Can't wait to see the part of this series.
Missed Ramen isshin, On college str. The spicy red dragon is my go to! Love it!
Agreed!! Scrolled down hoping to see this and voila first comment.
Loving the Canada vibes!!
These are great videos. This is another one. Thanks for coming back to Canada. Cheers, Chef John.
On the subject or ramen, it is about the broth, the noodles, and the garnishes. It should be balanced and hearty. When it is cold outside, a good bowl or ramen is perfect to warm you up. #IncreaseThePeace
Got 3 notifications of your videos but can only watch this one. Great video again!
personal fave is kinton ramen. pretty good stuff there
John, what a fun video to watch! Make more like this when you travel.
It was fun to have ramen with him and watch him work - we've got a little interview we did with him over on our channel.
Killed it again Chef! Thanks for the great content. Love from the east coast of Canada
Thanks for the documentary John! Keep up the amazing work!
Loved the video John. Looking forward to see what you come up with this time for a ramen dish.
Nice one Busker can't wait to see your final product, in the end with a good ramen recipe :-))
Great video john. Hope to see more like this.
Kotteri Ramen Naritake - Paris, ramen heaven.
Love when UA-camrs are in my city!
Kyoukka Ramen is another great one near the beach. 2222 Queen St E, Toronto, ON M4E 1E9
Kyu near union has awesome Ramen in 6 different styles including dipping hot stone Ramen and it's super affordable for such a high end restaurant
I too went on a ramen mission and by far Kenzo Ramen, IMHO, in Mississauga (everything made by hand daily) followed by Isshin Ramen, then Santuoka are tops. I'm sure nothing compares to what Japan can offer but all things considered in what I consider to be one of the best food capitals of the world these would be my top choices.
Excellent video John........jeeeeeez that chicken broth sounds amazing, I am totally up for a ramen series......merci :)
Spot on !
I recently found your ramen videos and they are very good. Don't forget to sip the soup first when the bowl arrives! It's is an unwritten rule :)
I hope you come to Japan and try out some good places. I'm a ramen maniac myself.
I love Japanese food and ramen! Can't wait for the remaining episodes! Keep it up John lovely stuff
amazing, cant wait for more!
Ugh! Indian and Korean food in Toronto is so good!!!!!!
Hey Busker! I thought today about making Tonkotsu Ramen broth Soup Dumplings. That could be worth giving a shot!
Ramen is one of the worlds great dishes
My favorite ramen/Japanese restaurant is Kiu Japanese Cuisine in Downtown Markham 169 Enterprise #2nd
my favorite place to eat right now...kinka izakaya..expensive but worth!! TRY IT OUT!
bruh that last ramen.... i am weak to my knees..
"There's a real reocurring theme in Toronto that if you want the good stuff, the authentic cuisine, then you've gotta go to the suburbs."
* goes to Danforth and Broadview *
Bruh. That's not even remotely close to the suburbs. 😂😂😂
must visit Toronto
Ikkousha Ramen Toronto on Queen street my fav !
Did you try Beef stock Ramen wicked
You missed Isshin Ramen, I was actually there in October this year.
I can't understand how you're not 400 lbs making and eating all this great food.
Those bamboo shoots are Menma right? That's not just plain bamboo shoots (takenoko), these are fermented and seasoned so they taste totally different and have different texture.
Was this before or after you made the 60 hour ramen?
You NEED to check out Monohon on Old St!
This feels like that south park episode where the character butters comes up with a plan only to find the show the Simpsons did it first. In this case busker is butters and Alex from French guy cooking did a video series on ramen. Ah well I like busker so lets see what he brings to the table lol.
As the Uber driver suggested the " mountain fire" is Santouka
2:51 that Spiderman using a skateboard?
Touhenboku in Richmond Hill
chef's secret sauce looks like peanut butter XD
Ive tried it so many times...hours after hours spending time in my kitchen maybe you should go to japan to reveal that secret to us. Its no witchcraft after all.
I get the smiley coz u love ramen but why's there a heart piercing arrow😂😂. Anyways thanks for your efforts it helped.
1.31 someone knows which company sells the box of noodle?
Toronto: Top cuisines? Where to begin??? I would say Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Polish, Chinese, Portuguese, Indian, Persian, Turkish, Mexican, Italian, French, Hungarian,Jewish favourites, German, Finnish, Belgian, English, Spanish and yes, Canadian - but that is a melange of many cuisines including Native American and so many others. We are very lucky. Welcome to all!, enjoy!
I hope you delve into the Ethiopian and Indian cuisine as well.
For some reason many Torontonians love Kinton Ramen and Sansotei Ramen. Those are my LEAST favourite places for ramen...they chinz out on toppings (particularly, Sansotei Ramen) and I just found them bad-to-mediocre quality. To me, they taste more like take-out ramen. My favourite was Jyuban Ramen House, but unfortunately they closed down. They made their own hand-pulled noodles fresh everyday and their own soup. Their soup was light and tasted homemade and not overly salty like most restaurants. Their portion size was pretty generous too. It was a shame to see them disappear. I guess it was difficult for a small business to compete with the big chains. It was a hidden gem! My current go-to is Ajisen Ramen...they’re decent at an affordable price, but I’m looking for something better. I’ve yet to find my new favourite. I’ve heard that Konjiki Ramen has Michelin’s cheap-eats ranking, but I’ve yet to try it. I also heard that Ryus Noodle Bar is good too. I like the tsukemen (ramen with dipping broth) at Kiu Japanese Restaurant, I wish more places would sell tsukemen. 🍜 Toronto has some of the best Chinese & Taiwanese food (from different regions) in North America...both savoury and sweet, and from cheap eats to high end eats. You should come back to check it out! We have tons of options!
I never eaten a ramen it is they good?
Tip Top Secret for amazing Ramen. Have your sister-in-law, who is Japanese, make ramen. Wow!!😲
@@foodbusker yes, I'm glad my brother decided to marry someone Japanese, from Japan.
Jesus you're interrogating the man 😂
watch a movie called Tampopo...
You shoukd meet up with (Quang Tran), he is a chef in Canada and had a youtube channel. Check him out he has cooked tonkasu 2 times before on his channel. He has 950 subs
Ivan Ramen in New York?
Just so you know I wouldn't mind a 15 or 20min video if it means a deeper dive or more of a interview or your opinion lol
Hakata Shoryuken Ramen and Ryus Noodle Bar are much better than the commercialized Kinton/Sansotei/Santouka imho.
why was that taxi driver wearing a golf glove lol
third time lucky John :P
@@foodbusker I would like a bowl of each, please.
Hey John! I consider myself a ramen addict and in my and a few others opinions a good ramen consists of five key components: broth, tare (sauce), noodles, toppings, and oil. Apart from that I personally believe ramen to be a completely customizable dish that can be made as long as you have those key components. Just don't forget to use ramen noodles which have kansui or alkaline water, which gives the noodles the chew you expect from ramen. Shameless plug to reddit.com/r/ramen to check out ramenlord he goes massively in depth with ramen so you can possibly ask him so questions.
So those milky broths were bone broths right?
I just learned about bone broth a few weeks ago. Going to have to try it.
the pork one, tonkotsu, is milky because they boil it hard to emulsify the gelatin that is taken from the collagen in the pork bones.
ryu's at its original location on baldwin was better imo
also you should've given ramen isshin a visit
I'll say this, if you live in Toronto, and Jamaican or Trini aren't in your top 3 must-have cuisines in the GTA, you've messed up.
Jingle bells music?
no one recommended kinton eh?
jingle bells 2:37 ongoing, really? :D
is greater dish
I actually quite liked your street style ramen. 🤷♂️
What you were in Toronto and didn’t hit me I would like to meet you and shake your hand
You didn't even check out Konjiki. And Ryu's been expensively disappointing since the move. The only redeeming place is Sansotei and even their ramen isn't the best.
this guys shirt looks like toilet paper 6:00
But today's Monday!!😲
Food Busker love it!
Yo for real if you want the best Ramen. You have to come to Kuwait.
Banging your chopsticks is annoying and extremely disrespectful. Stop it
Shouldn't you go to the source of ethnic food ... i.e. Japan and find your gems there?
Ryuichiro is so likable, so secure in his craft that he has no worries telling you his "secrets".
Why are you patting everyone like that? Jesus... Secret sauce hm? Patt
You should ask French guy cooking.
Haha "hi spider man"
Also, Glen is right, you can find amazing south Indian food in Toronto
Excellent video John! I live in Toledo Ohio & my friend's wife is from Toronto. They make frequent trips there, I will tag along now! Thanks for the great work
@Jeff - C'mon up!
@@GlenAndFriendsCooking Subscribed now👍
@@jeffward1106 Thanks!
Now i want some Ramen...
will you make a new video where you make some ramen?
You said this chain restaurant is the best? You gonna try yourself but not listen to those toneless people.
That secret sauce looked a lot like miso paste...
It's not ramen if it does not have the soft boiled egg :(
Ramen Isshin is also pretty good
Santouka is garbage chain
The Jazz music really goes well with Ramen ~I also made a Ramen video if you are ever coming to Dallas check it out too~Ichigoh Ramen~
good ramen stock can take 8-12 hours to get the deepest flavour out of, you generally cook it a day ahead if you want to make this tonkotsu ramen
Great video, Chef! I've been a follower for ages and since I got to Canada in April for working holidays, I've been working on the line in restaurants in Vancouver, Tofino (at Shelter) and now Banff. Always so sad, I wouldn't get the chance to meet and chat. Seeing you now walking around in a Shed shirt just kills me haha
Have you ever had chinese ramen? Far superior in my opinion ( and the true original) 兰州拉面
This video is in chinese but if you skim through it you should be able to gather whats going on m.ua-cam.com/video/5I55JnAh2QE/v-deo.html
That's a solid WHY! (My ramen got lots of hate, so I'm doing a series to get it right...) Nice one bruv. Much love from Hawaii.
Loving the dedication and the search to nail everything. Keep it up, big fan.
Nice stuff Chef, you gotta explore Brazilian Cuisine man, come on!!
That trillion calorie pork fat ramen must be sooo good. Can't wait to try it on my upcoming Canada trip.
I love how this guy is seeking out any Asian looking dude to ask ‘where the best ramen is’
Christmas music? Loved it!
Did I hear Jingle Bells?
Looks amazing J
ciTy!
Hakata Shoryuken Ramen on Yonge.
This is not a burger!
Why not just go to Japan if you're gonna do a ramen series? Straight to the source. Two Michelin starred ramen restaurants in Tsuta which will change your life, and Nakiryu.
@@foodbusker looking forward to it. Wish I could go with you, LOL
4:47 so cute
