The Story of Moses and Khidr Lessons in Wisdom and Patience

Once upon a time, Prophet Moses was addressing the Israelites when someone asked him, "Who is the most knowledgeable of men?" Moses answered, "I am," claiming wisdom without attributing it to the Almighty.
كان هناك زمان، كان النبي موسى يخاطب بني إسرائيل عندما سأله أحدهم: "من هو أعلم الناس؟" أجاب موسى: "أنا"، مدعيًا الحكمة دون أن ينسبها إلى الله.
God's response was to inform Moses of a servant more knowledgeable than him at the junction of two seas.
كانت استجابة الله أن أخبر موسى عن عبدٍ أعلم منه عند ملتقى البحرين.
Determined to learn, Moses set out on a quest alongside his young companion Joshua. On their journey, they reached a stone where they rested. Unknown to Moses, the fish they carried slipped into the sea, marking the meeting place.
عازمًا على التعلم، انطلق موسى في رحلة مع رفيقه الشاب يشوع. خلال رحلتهم، وصلوا إلى حجر حيث استراحوا. دون علم موسى، انزلقت السمكة التي كانت بحوزتهم إلى البحر، مما حدد مكان اللقاء.
Joshua later recalled, "When we rested by the rock, I forgot about the fish; nothing made me forget but Satan, and it leapt into the sea in a marvellous way."
تذكر يشوع لاحقًا: "عندما استرحنا بجانب الصخرة، نسيت السمكة؛ لم يجعلني أنسى إلا الشيطان، وقد قفزت إلى البحر بطريقة رائعة."
This prompted Moses and Joshua to return, where they met Khidr. Moses requested to accompany Khidr to learn from his divine knowledge.

Khidr cautioned, "You will not be able to have patience with me." Moses promised patience, but Khidr stipulated, "Then if you follow me, do not ask about anything until I myself make mention of it."
حذر الخضر: "لن تستطيع الصبر معي." وعد موسى بالصبر، لكن الخضر اشترط: "إذا اتبعتني، فلا تسأل عن شيء حتى أذكره أنا بنفسي."
Their journey together led to three mystical events: 1. Onboard a boat, Khidr made a hole in it. Moses exclaimed, "Have you made a hole to drown its people? You have done something evil!" He was reminded of the pact and said no more.
قادتهما رحلتهما معًا إلى ثلاثة أحداث غامضة: 1. على متن سفينة، أحدث الخضر ثقبًا فيها. صرخ موسى: "هل أحدثت ثقبًا لتغرق أهلها؟ لقد فعلت شيئًا شريرًا!" ذكره بالعهد ولم يقل شيئًا آخر.
2. Later, they encountered a boy whom Khidr killed. Moses questioned, "Have you killed an innocent soul for other than having killed a soul? You have done a terrible thing!" Khidr reminded him again.

3. In an unwelcoming town, where no hospitality was shown, Khidr repaired a crumbling wall. Moses objected, saying, "If you wished, you could have taken payment for it." Finally, Khidr revealed the wisdom behind his actions.

The ship belonged to poor men working at sea. By damaging it, he protected them from an oppressive king who seized every good ship forcefully.
كانت السفينة تعود لرجال فقراء يعملون في البحر. من خلال إتلافها، حماهم من ملك ظالم كان يستولي على كل سفينة جيدة بالقوة.
The boy would have oppressed his believing parents with disbelief had he lived. God intended to provide them with a better, more pious child in the boy's place.
كان الصبي سيفسد والديه المؤمنين بالكفر لو عاش. أراد الله أن يرزقهم بطفل أفضل وأكثر تقوى في مكان الصبي.
The wall safeguarded a treasure for two orphaned boys. Their righteous father left it for them, and Khidr's repair was God's means to protect their future.
كان الجدار يحمي كنزًا لولدين يتيمين. تركه لهما والدهما الصالح، وكان إصلاح الخضر وسيلة الله لحماية مستقبلهما.
