Others have said it here. This is essentially a training exercise for Kim Jung Un's generals and military officers to gain combat experience. The North Korean soldiers are just cannon fodder for the training exercise. The common soldiers aren't intended to make it home.
Reports like this one is why this channel is my go-to for actual on-the-ground updates. I haven't heard from any mainstream western media sources about North Korean troops actually fighting inside Ukraine.
