people who weren't alive in the 90s and early 2000s will never understand the stranglehold jlo had on popular culture. he albums were ubiquitous, she was in movies (out of sight is so iconic). every young woman had her fragrance. everyone wanted to look like her. but she has never been down to earth or authentic and that kind of persona doesn't work with the public now
Madonna, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Tony Braxton, Beyonce/DC, Britney Spears, Pink, and Christina Aguilera all had their own UNIQUE ARTISTRY. JLO was just a popular artist of the moment which is why her music isn’t as timeless as all the other Artist I mentioned. Theres a reason why all those women can tour and sell out tours. Their fanbase can recognize true artistry and not manufactured bullshit.
Most importantly I’d argue, all of the people that you listed can sing well😂.
Personally I’m not a fan of Madonna‘s voice, but all the rest of the people that you listed are very great singers 😂

Thank goodness that finally people are starting to see her for who she really is. Stop enriching her any further. You empty your wallets getting her tickets to concerts, movies, products of all kinds over the years . Your wallets empty her wallet overflowing but to her the average person is beneath her.
I strongly believe that J Lo rode the Latin explosion music wave from the late 90s~ 2000s. People like Ricky Martin and Shakira were blowing up in American mainstream and jlo took advantage of that with her generic first single. It didn’t stand out from the other pop girlies. It was also very self indulgent but people fell for it then. Everyone loved her because of her role in Selena. She came at the right time. But that was long ago.
I personally loved the project just because I had gone through a break up and found the movie relatable. BUT as a jlo fan she made some crazy mistakes with this project
1. There were no hit singles on the album
2. She did an album interview with Zak saying the album was coming out in summer…the album came out over a year later after that interview.
3. The lyrics throughout were sloppy “bling bling and ring ring” 1 time 2 time I be loving you until the end of time…just sounds so amateur and unprofessional for an artist of her level.
4. The mixing was awful some songs sounded too autotuned and nothing like Jlo voice.
5. The album should have been released while there was still hype around her and Ben being back together she said that the album was done…people lost interest a year later
The reason she had to fund the movie herself was because no Studio wanted to back the movie!! all of them told her that this movie wouldn't sell because these type of movies don't sell anymore but she didn't want to listen!😂😂

I agree that her team isn't advising her well. The way that one person was referring to the wedding was weird. "He has that wedding that he is in....." Who refers to the actual GROOM as just being "in" a wedding? You would say, "he's not available; he's getting married," or when she asked, "What wedding?" You'd say, "It's HIS wedding."The way she said,"he has that wedding." And then continued to just say, "the wedding he is in." And "he's not missing that wedding." Made it sound like he had a gig or something that wouldn't be a big deal to cancel.

I always thought Jlo was over hyped. I will admit back in the day, with the Selna movie and I did buy some of her early records, but I feel she is at a crossroads in her career, where she is no longer the it girl. Don't get me wrong, she looks great for her age, and a great dancer, (better than Lady B)but I think she is no longer the it girl. I never liked her movies. She made some of the worst Romantic comedies I haver ever seen. the reason her career is shrinking is because of her. JLO put more into JLO it was hard to go to a movie to see her act as another character, or her music(which was starting to sound the same) .I agree that perhaps she should have played Vegas, put out a greatest hit album , maybe record one or two songs on it, and just do a great Vegas show, now i think she is just a celebrity

Residency is a great idea. Celine Dion dit it for years and her shows were sold out. But with J Lo there is a problem.
