I have a engine and a traction control light on the code I got was p0018 what I would like to know is if after you change the oil control valve and the engine oil did it go away?
Bump! Same issue with me as of tonight, TC and Engine Light both came on at the same time, restarted my vehicle and the TC light went off shortly afterwards, maybe like 5 minutes. But my EL remains on and OBD-Reader gave me “most likely solution” as Oil Control Valve (also referred to as the VVT Solenoid).
I just got my P0018 Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 2 Sensor A) Check Engine Light and Traction Control Light are both on. I have an Automatic Transmission 2017 Toyota 86 at 60,000 miles now. I just did an oil change, took my car in to the dealership to see which sensor needed to be changed, and they told me my K&N Oil Filter is the problem... The thing is, I have been using a K&N Oil Filter for the longest time, and the check engine light came out just recently. I want to check my Crankshaft Position Sensor and my Camshaft Position Sensor. Clean them of dust/dirt/leaked oil, test their voltages, and see if I need to replace any of them, but I just do not know which sensor is which and where they are exactly located.
@@zachbrossett I change the sensor on mine bank 2 sensor A and the TC and EL still didn't came off send it to the dealership they say the sensor is working they clear the code after leaving the dealership it came back send it back they wanted 600 just to go in the engine but I just took it back so am planning to work on it myself will keep you posted.
Hey Heather so I have a 13 frs running some bolt one but just had two codes come on p0390 &p0391 your video has been really helpful. Could my problem be similar
Gotten a P000B code, assuming that it's bank 1 but not sure if exhaust or intake side. If I were to flip the exhaust and intake OCV would the codes change or would I have to go through a drive cycle?
Heather Garland ordered some new ones, would it be okay to swap the ocv between intake and exhaust for now? I know it might throw a different code afterwards
Some great info in this vid! You said this was DTC P000A, right? I have a permanent P0010 error code and this video was one of the top Google results for those terms. Are these two codes related to the same underlying problem? I'm not very technical so I had a little bit of trouble keeping up with the video (particularly with the interchanging of the terms sensor, solenoid, actuator, and oil control valve). I'm just trying to figure out if my P0010 code would be fixed with the method shown in this video, or if P0010 has less to do with swapping out the entire oil control valve assembly, but rather just replacing the sensor that clips onto the housing.
Yeah, my bad. The technical term is oil control valve, but I typically call it a cam sensor. For p0010, it could be the oil control valve assembly on the passenger intake side, an electrical issue with that harness, an ecm issue, or the efi main 1 relay. I would start by measuring the resistance of the ocv. When warm, the resistance should be between 6.85 and 7.65 ohms. If not, then the ocv is bad and do what I did in the video.
@@heatherbergmann7991 im having an issue where the cams are only turning on intermittently and thi k it's either the sensor or ocv. I want to test the ocv, so pretend I was in 1st grade. How do I test the resistance?
@@innercirclepro11 the resistance should be 6.85-7.65 ohms. So disconnect the connector, and hold both probes of the multimeter to the two prongs on the ocv. If it is out of that limit, replace it.
@@heatherbergmann7991 awesome. I will check tonight. How about testing the sensors if the ocv check out? When the cams come on (I can see through ecutek and vvht exhaust) the car runs great. When they dont, I get stall and rough idle. Never got a cam code though only to lean to or rich but that becuase of the cam issue I'm certain.
@@innercirclepro11 there is no spec for the camshaft position sensor on subaru. I believe they aren't too expensive, so you could always try that. I'd recommend the subaru oil flush first.
Yes, it just means that it is a different sensor. There is upper (intake) and lower (exhaust) sensors for both driver's and passenger sides. P000A = Intake Passenger Side P000B = Exhaust Passenger Side P000C Intake Driver's Side P000D Exhaust Driver's Side.
did your car die on you, mine is a 2015 FR-S and as i was on a red light, as soon as i hit the gas it started loosing power, and then it shut off on me this morning, never started. just cranks.
@@Laggyness That is up to you, but for $80 I figured why not start there. It's a quick and easy fix. Dealer usually has then in stock or Rock Auto is great also.
So p0011 is bank 1 intake camshaft is too advanced. Causes can be low oil or oil that has clogged the actuator, bad actuator solenoid, possibly wiring issue, or it jumped timing. I would check oil, change it, do the oil flush, clear code and see if it comes back. If it does, you can remove the solenoid and test it, and if that tests fine, start looking for a wiring issue.

Just a brief search looks like that is more of a circuit electrical issue, than an issue with the oil control valve.
What was the part number for the gaskets? Video kind of blurred

You might have to drive it a bit tho
