Hi Chris and Carol, nice of you knowing and enjoying your adventures in the Philippines, thanks!
And the star fish that you stumbled on that has many legs must be a young " crown of thorns" star fish that devours live corals around the area. It is a menace at our corals for they trive eating them and they multiply so fast that local island beach rangers can't cope eliminating them. You may search about this star fish so that you may know how devastating creature they are. In some areas, they don't have predators to stop them from growing rapidly.

Every time I watched jumping places there's always something coincidence happened like you took video on an airplane...last night we celebrated Thanksgiving at my sister's house in Vacaville... my sister have a visitors a classmate from high school who'smarriedto a PAL pilot...while we were enjoying drinking beer at the table...Jackie's husband a pilot of the Philippines Air line was in the airplane cockpit throughhis cellphone...and introduced us to her pilot husband Westley who was somewhere in Japan on flight...their daughter Jen also enjoyed crabbing outside the Golden gate Bridge in San Francisco...with 2 boats they caught about 65 Dungeness crabs 🦀 10 crabs per person is the limit and has to be 5.5 inches in length...am still imagining my grandfather using sailboat from camotes Island to Ormoc leyte, when there's not enough wind to propelled them from Island to Island using papa as a balancer...as a boy his hips was tighted to a rope and Lolo Simo would command him to run from one side of the katig? to another so the Vinta or sailboat will not capsize. I used to take free C130 flight at Mactan air force base...to Nicols air force base in Manila...sorry got carried away... amping tanan...

12:44 those are pandan trees. They grow on sandy beaches all over the islands of the indo-pacific. There are many species. That one i think is edible. Tastes like pineapple. The most common pandan however, is the species whose leaves are used in cooking. Youve probably eaten them before in green desserts in southeast asia. They smell very much like vanilla.
Pandan was an important plant to the ancient austronesian peoples (filipinos, malaysians, indonesians, micronesians, polynesians, etc), because the leaves are salt resistant and were the traditional material used to make mats that were used as traditional sails. Theyre also woven into baskets and hats and sleeping mats.

Hi, Chris and Carol. Have you tried eating in some local home cooked foods they called “Cerenderia” in the towns you’ve visited? Seems like you’re limited with the foods you’re eating. Try the local foods on display. It’s like a buffet of local foods and I believe some are even Spanish foods like menudo and afritada. There are vegetable dishes too you can try. Eating in this home cooked eateries is a good adventure and you’ll get to meet the locals and connect with them in some way. Just don’t hesitate to ask questions if you’re not sure what kind of meat it is. Coron has local restaurants that offer seafoods. Pair it with either beer or sprite so to avoid indigestion in case. Enjoy the hot spring on sunset. It’s the only salt sea water in the country fueled by an active underwater volcano.

Nice view of Mindanao from Camiguin
I was there on Mindanao looking at Camiguin last September & October in Balingoan near the ferry crossing.
We were at Mantangale dive resort.
We are taking the trip to Camiguin in April
