Everyone calling the first story fake because of the Kara runs...chill holy shit. It was 17 years ago and its probably just a combination of mis-remembering/inflating details/being dramatic. It's like when you tell a fishing story and every time the fish gets 1 inch bigger.
As someone who is also High Functioning Autistic as well. I can relate to the first story... however there are discrepancies in said story that have me questioning it's validity.
Maybe I'm being too judgmental but I don't believe a word of it. The author penned a fake story and said he was autistic because it's a funny word to say. Really dumb trend on the internet this past year, hope we grow past it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if you're saved to a raid, you cannot just go clear it again. You wouldn't be able to enter the same version of the raid instance as others as raid IDs are unique. This just sounds like a lie.
ok i'm listening to this on spotify and had to come here and say.....holy shit the story at 37:41...I can't, dear lord, holy shit this is so....I've spent many a nights in bed cringing at my past but this just tops the cake. Author you're a beast for submitting thank you for sending this in I'm so glad you can look back and see how far you've grown
How in the world did he even get into Kara multiple times? I thought the raid lockout system would take whomever was saved and apply their progress across the entire rest of the dungeon prior to the personal loot error. I remember lots of bitching over using someone elses lockout ID on a nax runn once back when I was playing WoTLK
48:17 Cannot stress this enough. That is a MASSIVE red flag. Grooming shit at best, worst case you'd have lost your kidney or never been found again lol.
There's 2 discrepancies in the story. 1-No loot lockouts, though considering this was so long ago the author might have misremembered. He stated there was 3 weeks of kara raiding so maybe he was pulling people to his own instance lockout and then "not getting gear" because he was locked out? 2nd, transmog. I've listened to that segment a couple of times and it sounds like the groomer girl was trying to get the author to IRL wear a brown outfit (cowsuit?) Other than that, I can totally relate to how someone on the spectrum acted. Besides, those two things didn't affect the story. You all latch onto 2 discrepancies in an hour long recollection of something that happened closer to 20 years ago.
There wouldn't be any bosses or mobs in the raid if it was his lockout, and he wouldn't even be able to enter someone else's instance, getting a message saying that you're already saved to a different instance. Even with only one boss killed in his personal lockout would have prevented him from entering a different raid
Yeah, despite the author swearing the first story is true, it's full of holes. Transmog definitely was NOT a thing during TBC, not to mention raid lockouts would prevent you from doing the same raid. I smell BS
I honestly can't remember when I got broadband, or at least decent broadband. According to what I can find online my town got fibre braodband in 2015 but we probably had faster than 56k/ADSL earlier. I definitely remember playing SWG on dial up at least into Jump to Lightspeed which was 2004, the same year WoW released so I was playing both of those at the time. Had broadband when I went back to uni in 2017. So definitely had some form of broadband but not fiber at least until the 2015 and can't remember what the speeds were like. Honestly I was just thankful to be able to play games without dreading a DC because someone needed to use the phone.

Australian ADSL could indeed be basically dialup. not literally, but things like steam detect it as dialup because of the abysmal speed. To give you an idea of how bad it is, my upload speed would register as somewhere between 0.1kbps and literally 0. My best download speed was 200kbps, though in practice, it would actually oscillate between 40 and 120kbps. This was indeed in the 2010's. It was so bad, when we got fucking satellite internet, our speed increased by a factor of 100. It was so slow that satellite was better. My current internet speed is probably considered awful by most peoples standards, but I'm so used to that fuckawful dialup tier internet, that my current internet speed may as well be infinite in comparison. I don't need to set aside literal weeks to download things any more.
ya no with the way raid id lockouts worked is how they work with mythic raids now you could not enter another raid lockout, and transmog wasnt brought in till i think the end of cata this story is bullshit lol
And that’s not what happened in the story that caused him to say ‘murca. The friend didn’t get conscripted, he randomly chose to join the army voluntarily. That’s what makes it ‘murca.
@@csrjjsmp That makes your case even weaker. I would guess there are even more countries with a volunteer army than there are countries with conscription.

In the story of the 16 year old who fell in love with someone in the guild and they edated, how much older was she? Are we talking about a grooming nonce??
She was old enough to be a bartender which means at least 21. Usually you can work in a bar under 21 (I did as a barback and dj) but cannot bartend or serve because you’re not allowed to handle open liquor. So yes….a grooming nonce.
Oh god, that autistic sense of justice in that first story. I know the exact feeling. The rage. I think I've generally grown out of it but at that age with hormones raging and you learning that the world isn't as fair as you were told is was supposed to be. He's lucky that outburst happened in WoW and not in real life. My worst one had me "threaten a teacher". You just keep digging deeper and the thing is, in the initial point that set you off, you were right. But your behaviour and the way you've flipped out is whats caused the actual issue, and you just can't reconcile it. You just keep raging against the injustice and you don't understand why everyone else can't see it. I think everyone can understand why injustice sucks but autistic people are prone to a very black and white way of thinking, especially at that age. And when that rigid morality and sense of justice meets reality the culture shock is absolutely brutal. And then you generally struggle with emotional regulation and on top of that you also struggle with understanding what emotions you're feeling at all. You can be absolutely fucking livid and you think you're calm. So imagine it. The perfect storm of teenage hormones, emotional disregulation, an inability to even realise that you're in a heightened emotional state, and all of that bundled up in a petty situation that has nonetheless absolutely shattered every preconception you have about how the world aught to be. Everything you've been told. Everything you model your behaviour on. It all falls apart and a meltdown starts. The whole world seems out to get you. Nobody seems to understand that this tiny petty situation is "the worst thing to ever happen". The anger and sadness just builds and builds until... it breaks. Either something shakes you out of it, your burn yourself out and shut yourself off from the world, or your escalating behaviour and anger lands you in a situation bad enough that it makes you finally shut up. Thinking back, I'm amazed I didn't get myself in bigger trouble in school.

Yeah story is BS. Transmog came MUCH later
I was kinda confused how he could be 16 and in college too. US students usually start college at 18.

There's another big discrepancy to me. He's just gonna take a bad spec and take it to such amazing levels on rural dial-up? Sure.

No multiple of the same raid or transmog in tbc ... vet the stories bex!
ACCIDENTAL SUCCESS! THE BEST SUCESS!

First story has to be fake on purpose. Even if you never played TBC you can't get this much wrong on accident. Edit: At least the start with Kara.
As a long time FF14 player there is no reward that anybody could offer me that would get me to raid in a brown outfit.
