Why do i always feel some stupid when i see that playing of classic trumpet players like this video? There is no just one improvisation. It looks like they just can play what they memorized something. I think that's not musician just instrument player.
Well, maybe cause these kind of thoughts just are stupid? Real musicianship is not about improvising. It's about feeling something - whether classical or jazz...

A classical musician creates magic with something that is written and a jazz musician creates magic in the now. It is not like classical musicians is not passionate or emotionless about their artform. -Be respectful of that! It is pretty f-ing hard work believe me. The rest is a matter of taste. I use to think this way. Let's say it this way, our favorite singers do not improvise their songs on the spot. It rehearsed and polished. That's why we love them so much. Playing classical, like our favorite pop songs, can be done with or without musical expression. It's the mastery and the fidelity of the instrument that makes it special. Playing those tunes takes a lot of work and skill. It's hard to scoff at. Jazz has its disciplines as well but on a different area of musicality.
