Paul Lynde was the reason why The Hollywood Squares lasted so long on television. Everybody waited for him to be called to answer a question in his own unique way. He may have had his personal flaws, but his performance Art was his gift to the world.
Love this piece of work about Paul that is so funny. He was the best comedian that there ever was and today will be no one like him anywhere. Thanks for this post here on UA-cam.
Nobody has mentioned seeing him on the Munsters...he was their family doctor. Another piece of his great performance. Its so sad to see such talented people with big personel problems. I dont think being gay in that time zone had anything to do with his unhappiness, I think it went much deeper than that. I still laugh when I see him on TV....he was the greatest
I remember many gay men being sad in the 1970s. I think it was very emotionally traumatic to have to hide who they were and to have to fear being found out and beat up.
Thats very sad to hear why do people have to beat up others who are different?, having a disabillity, an obvious one. it was more teasing never physical but in ways i relate to lynde the lack of self esteem until a black teacher encouraged my writing too, i do hope he knew before he died he gave people a lot of laughs his timing was masterful he just had it good your friend tried to help paul who and what he was did not matter to him now and its good to know no one is always alone.
A great poem: The Trouble in the Tulip Bed By Paul Lynde I don't know what to say A tulip talked to me today I was trimming the hedge Quite near the mountain ledge When lo and behold My blood ran cold Yes, a tulip SCREAMED at me today It was my favorite The one I call Blanche She puckered up her petals and screamed AVALANCHE! Yes, a tulip saved my life today Now you might not think this quite so much But you see Must tulips speak Dutch classic and typically Paul and I love it
The hepatitis made him more miserable too. I suspect his liver was solid lead. I did enjoy being gifted his shoes, ascots, and several suits when he was tired of them. He did have some nice antique French furnature. It was fun visiting his place and having food and drink. He was always decent around me, but I was 18 and very cute:)~
Paul Lynde was an effective comedian on TV- when he was sober. His alcoholism brought out his inherently nasty and vicious nature. He was often racist when he was drunk as he did on a couple of occassions. Othertimes, he just lashed out at people at parties and events when he was sloshed. Being a comedian, Im not surprised. i have seen this side in comics quite a few times.. Funny guy but troubled human being. Im glad I never met him.
it happens in mid western families food is the symbol of love or comfort food if you will, his mom proably had that in her family too feel bad heres some food that will make you feel better also there were no such things as vegans when paul was growing up what we know today we did not know then respecting chaloric intake and how to burn it off, plus from what i read paul was more artistic than athletic, i'm sure his mom loved him.
And WHY in the world would his mother do that to him? She made things worse by feeding him so much of that kind of food while he was in that condition...and bed-ridden!! Terrible!
There is nor will there ever be another Paul Lynde
GREAT Bio!!!! A must see for any Paul Lynde fan-excellent!

The funniest man who was ever on television. No one even comes close!! Thanks for this.
"So YOUR the one" was the PERFECT Paul Lynde mimic.
I always loved Paul Lynde i think in some of the interviews later on in life you find out people are humans Noone is perfect i liked him

His timing, delivery, expressions were perfect. But I'll remember him most for his funny responses on "Hollywood Squares".
What a awesome video ! This ! shows how hurt any of us can be!😭
One of his best was when he was a driving instructor on Bewitched. He was nursing a frisbee-size tranquilizer. Hilarious.
Love learning about his life
He was great and so funny he will missed
Yes, Paul Lynde is the inspiration for the voice of Roger, the alien in American Dad. Very cool.
Escargoon's voice in the English Dub of Kirby! Right Back At Ya! was also made to sound like him.
Cattle surgeon. I have to remember that when I go through the meat market.
Paul Lynde is the kind of guy who could make a Pokedex entry or a Creepypasta sound funny.
Hey,he is a fellow Buckeye!! Cool! I loved this man..truly miss him...

Paul Lynde was also in I dream of Jeannie as a tax collector 😃
Absolutely brilliant !

A great poem:
The Trouble in the Tulip Bed
By Paul Lynde
I don't know what to say
A tulip talked to me today
I was trimming the hedge
Quite near the mountain ledge
When lo and behold
My blood ran cold
Yes, a tulip SCREAMED at me today
It was my favorite
The one I call Blanche
She puckered up her petals and screamed
AVALANCHE!
Yes, a tulip saved my life today
Now you might not think this quite so much
But you see
Must tulips speak Dutch
classic and typically Paul and I love it
rick grande...he was a driving instructor on "I Dream of Jeannie!" He was Uncle Arthur on "Bewitched!"
Before he became Uncle Arthur, he started off on Bewitched as a driving instructor named Harold Harold.

Paul had problems, but could be very generous. Of course, I miss him.
I remember Paul having the shit beat out of him at a straight bar. My friend was his travel partner, and also got beat up defending Paul.

What. GREAT. FUNNy. Man. One. Of a kine

It says HUMBLE.
ANOTHER FAMOUS "BUCKEYE BOY"!! AND ANOTHER THAT HAS PASSED ON MUCH TO THE SADNESS OF THE WORLD :-(
Oh, he was just playing a character in the New Faces movie. He didn't mean for real!
Way before his time....
And WHY in the world would his mother do that to him? She made things worse by feeding him so much of that kind of food while he was in that condition...and bed-ridden!! Terrible!
It’s almost as if she treated her son like cattle.
@rickw1100 you haven't seen much
I believe his brother died in WWII.
@Cart00n0 Sorry. Not even close.
@dylanwhaley87 i'm sorry
I think he is very funny, but it is laughable that Paul mentioned he had a wife at the beginning of this video, even if it was in jest.
