Loved this vlog, sometimes it ain't always about catching fish after fish. The way that you put your vlog together & the story that you tell makes it feel that we are out there with you, so don't worry about it ; ) All the best.
Is it me or are river pike gorgeous? Love the second one having a jump. Might need to look at picking up couple those flies to try. Nice upload, dont worry, gopro stuff is cool :-)
Did you try a stinger in the end? I had three missed fish on a jig fly, added a stinger and it worked perfectly next trip out. 4 fish, none missed, all on the stinger.
ive got that very combo mate, how do you rate it ? ive got j-braid 27lb on mines, but casting aint the best. id be interested in any info you could give, what line are you using ?
Nice one pal! I've been using pike flies with cheburashka's for about 2 years now with some great results. Nice to see some else using them pal what waights are they they look mint for the flies.
Hi Mate. I've fished this way loads of times and I've missed TOO MANY fish, just like you did😞 If you get a hold of pike flies with stinger hooks you'll be set. That will allow you to catch the careful ones😊👍 -EDIT- Aaaaand I just got to the part where you considered adding a stinger😃 A bit fast to pull the trigger but yeah, stingers are great👍
100 percent mate I'll be making them soon as I have some if the stuff but need a few more parts and them I'll get a few made and tested keep an eye out 🤙
@@TheoutbackUK got told other day that not legal because if the lure comes off in pikes mouth it will have a battery degrading inside it and this will kill the fish. But i don't know the legalities that's why i'm asking.
It's an each to their own style thing. I would normally fish slow but despite appearances the water is pretty shallow so gotta stay above them snags haha
8lb was a high estimate I agree but it could have easily gone 7 iv had hundreds of pine and yes sometimes they don't offten look the size but I'd encourage you to have a look at pictures of 7lb pike and tell me if you think there 7lb the mass of a fish can vary from fish to fish any angler knows that. I have been very good in my estimation when checking with scales. But thanks for the view and comment 😁👊
The Outback UK will do was just saying cuz my pb is 10 pound and he looks so much bigger than yours and I’ve had 7 pounders and they were different I suppose it depends on the belly and length he was short but fat I don’t mean to hate if you got it that way I love your vids keep it up I subbed aswell👌
@@TheoutbackUK it's not to fight the pike. But to cast the larger flies in the six to eight inch range. Smaller flies on a eight weight is ideal as well.
@@jameshughes9234 yeah it does make sense man longer flies do get heavier when they get wet I will purchase a propper pike fly rod eventually but I don't do it enough to justify spending the money if you get me. Also I do really love jig flies 😁
@@TheoutbackUK yeah mate, I don't bait fish very often. I like and prefer lure or fly fishing for all species. So I just use a couple of battered carp rods I was given. But I use Hardy and Vision fly rods lol. I'm looking for a 150gr. lure rod for pike any suggestions mate.
@@jameshughes9234 yeah me neither man I prefer to be out and about and moving. And yeah I'm the same man. Oh right sweet man and yeah actually any of the Westin w3 range of rods are amazing value for money cover all weight rating too in spinning and casting 👍

It's s good combo mate and I can't remember sorry man it's an old video this
Awesome video mate, what is the name of that 10g weight you attached to the fly?
It's a Cheb weight it's made by dragon not totally sure of the name of the specific weight but it's a variation of a cheburashka weight
Thanks, do you know Where I can get them from?
Nice one pal! I've been using pike flies with cheburashka's for about 2 years now with some great results. Nice to see some else using them pal what waights are they they look mint for the flies.
Yeah I think iv been using them about the same time. My best day I had 4 pike in 3 hours best 2 being 11 and 13lb and there dragon jig weights
@@TheoutbackUK cheers for that al have a look, just got back from fishing now had two pike one about 6lb on the jig flies and one on a lure about 3lb.
Well done mate tight lines 👍
I find if I slow my retrieve right down the pike have more time to take the fly. 10g might be a little heavy. Try 5g, lure sinks slower.
Great stuff as always mate, they certainly like them flies don't they 😝
Thanks man and hell yeah they do haha
River pike carry awesome markings good video mate
Agreed mate they definitely fight alot harder too 👍
Iv never tried fishing flies before, that's a nice shot of the pike at the end with the setting sun on it :)
Good to try them mate give em a go let me know how you get on. And yeah it was a good one aye haha 😁
@@TheoutbackUK I will give them a try :) Im going to do dome light perch fishing soon and maybe some pike :)

are those lures that's advertised before vid legal in UK
I'm not sure what advertiser's are putting on my videos I'll try find out now

Nice vid mate, have you ever tried using a fly rod for pike? its an amazing experience.
I have yet to do so but I do have the stuff just haven't got round too it yet I will though
I prefer fishing flies slowly mate but it can all rely on speed of the water. I’ll be on the 20lb pike list soon 😉🤫
It's an each to their own style thing. I would normally fish slow but despite appearances the water is pretty shallow so gotta stay above them snags haha
What size line and leader do you use on that set up mate?
65lb braid. And 20cm titanium
Great vid pal!
Cheers mate
try to use a single stinger hook attached to the existing hook to get a better hook rate (have a look at floating frogs lures)
Quality video mate 🎣
Frustrating when you miss a few like that but that's fishing 😕
Where do you get the jigs from?
Tight lines mate 🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thanks man. And that is fishing but it's all good fun. And the flies are hand made got them second hand at a tackle shop. And tight lines man
Can you please show me a link to the leads that your using
You seem like a proper down to earth guy. Decent character
Thannyou mate 😁

Cheers mate 😁👊
Love your stuff man, modern lure fishing is ace!
Cheers mate and yeah I totally agree man 😁👊
10 grams seems a bit much to me. Great vid.
Alot of people say that but I have plenty of success if usually go with 15-20
Why are those cheb called mate
Dragon jig weights
That pike was only around 4-5 pound nowhere near 7-8 pound 😂😂

Iv done plenty of pine fishing on a 7wt but yeah I know the general idea is at least a 10wt
