In support of Truss, just to say, whilst I didn't agree with everything in her Chancellor's first budget, it was at least a Conservative budget and, for those that weren't taking notes, the Bank of England was largely responsible for the markets hickup, it turns out, and much of that was due to not seeing the rise in energy prices which impacted the price of everything. This led to increasing inflation that hit everyone hard. The markets reacted badly to all the information around at that time but started a recovery soon after. A similar thing happened when Norman Lamont struggled with keeping us in Euro Exchange rate mechanism and this led to a market disaster as well but no one called for the PM's head back then.

The way the media in the UK went after her after the Kwarteng budget was totally unfair as they failed to mention the fact that global bond markets (led by the US) were selling off massively around the time of the UK Budget, meaning the move lower in UK Gilt prices (higher in Gilt yields) was in large part due to global events - at the time fears over rising inflation and the impact on rates. Sure, the growth oriented budget was, on the margins, a case of bad timing in view of this, but nobody has a crystal ball and the hapless BoE did nothing to calm the Gilt markets (Bailey clearly had it in for Truss), while the media and a UK public largely clueless about global market dynamics conveniently painted Truss as the ultimate villain. In support of Truss, just to say, whilst I didn't agree with everything in her Chancellor's first budget, it was at least a Conservative budget and, for those that weren't taking notes, the Bank of England was largely responsible for the markets hickup, it turns out, and much of that was due to not seeing the rise in energy prices which impacted the price of everything. This led to increasing inflation that hit everyone hard.
The markets reacted badly to all the information around at that time but started a recovery soon after. A similar thing happened when Norman Lamont struggled with keeping us in Euro Exchange rate mechanism and this led to a market disaster as well but no one called for the PM's head back then.
She did at least have the decency of resigning.

She talks a lot of sense. Can’t help but agree with her, she spoke well. I don’t know what happened when she was PM and how it all went pear shaped, but the biggest failure of the Tories (for me) was all the in-fighting, and the failure to govern collectively for the greater good. I’ve never voted Labour, and I never will. The Tories have effectively handed our country over to left-wing socialists who will do untold damage through their policies. It’s desperately worrying, and the Tories must accept culpability in that. And Liz Truss was a part of that, at least in some measure, it must be said.

Sensible comments and ideas from Liz Truss. We need to see more of her and her ideas. The way the media in the UK went after her after the Kwarteng budget was totally unfair as they failed to mention the fact that global bond markets (led by the US) were selling off massively around the time of the UK Budget, meaning the move lower in UK Gilt prices (higher in Gilt yields) was in large part due to global events - at the time fears over rising inflation and the impact on rates. Sure, the growth oriented budget was, on the margins, a case of bad timing in view of this, but nobody has a crystal ball and the hapless BoE did nothing to calm the Gilt markets (Bailey clearly had it in for Truss), while the media and a UK public largely clueless about global market dynamics conveniently painted Truss as the ultimate villain. She just wanted to boost UK growth by implementing growth policies after a disastrous one-two of Brexit and a pandemic.
