I think it was very important to acknowledge the work of indigenous people and the work they've done with RJ while also acknowledging that the state absorption of RJ and any assimilation is due to the normalization of violence and co-opting of indigenous work/work of the oppressed in order to pacify people through fake "progression". It's a power structure issue and not a fault of RJ or the communities that brought RJ to fruition. Not to say that this communication was the intent of the speakers, but that dichotomy is important to make specifically when speaking on indigenous communities and other originators of RJ.
