This is so reassuring thank you! I’m 44 years old, 21 days post supracervical for large fibroids, and I had to fight to keep my cervix. The surgeon kept asking me every time we spoke if I was sure I wanted to keep the cervix. And I kept having to reiterate “I have always had perfect paps, no family history of cervical, endometrial or ovarian cancer, and no HPV. Literally just benign fibroids. So yes. We’re keeping the cervix!” To a point where I wanted to write “keep the cervix” in sharpie on my stomach as a reminder on the surgery day. I also think there needs to be more accurate studies on women’s sexual satisfaction pre and post hysterectomy to get a more accurate answer to that question. It’s sadly so common for women not having pleasurable sex where they achieve orgasm so maybe their sex life is the same post because it wasn’t great pre? Or maybe they’re in a relationship or marriage where sex is no longer a priority? Or are asexual so they would report it being the same. Or, a lot of women can only achieve orgasm from stimulation outside the vagina so a total hysterectomy wouldn’t change their sexual satisfaction. However, for those of us (TMI) who achieve better stronger more satisfying orgasms through vaginal intercourse we absolutely want to keep the cervix because it plays a role in achieving orgasm. How are we not talking about this in 2023? Not to mention more accurate up to date studies need to done on hormone, mental and cardiovascular health pre vs post hysterectomy of all three types of hysterectomy. Considering it’s the second most common surgery for woman in the USA there’s a HUGE data set just waiting to be tapped into. Included in the studies should be pre and post surgery: diet? Exercise levels? Stress levels? AGE? Alcohol & drug use? Smoker vs nonsmoker? Has or did not have children? Hormone levels? Bloodwork? GENETIC HISTORY? What type of hysterectomy? Follow up 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 10 years. Combine that follow up with a yearly doctor visit. Someone needs to do this. Because it seems, it’s all way to convoluted and not thoroughly or recently researched.
@joystarrturk Thank you. Glad you got what you wanted! I give my patients the choice. I do recommend removing it for those with many abnormal paps in order to reduce risk of cervical cancer.
They are literally telling us what to do with our bodies 😢 . I did not get a second opinion 😔 and I lost my uterus to 2 uterine polyps 😭.
@@araceliserrato1189 Oh no, so sorry to hear this!
@@araceliserrato1189wow! So women are being coerced into giving up thier uteruses.
Thank you so much for this comment. Would you say that a hysterectomy interferes with a clitoris orgasm or the g spot?
Good video. Some thoughts on recommendations for removing the cervix: Spotting is not really an issue. After removing the body the bleeding stops or is definitely lower. Bleeding is in general a normal process. Woman should decide on their own. You also should continue regular checking and if the doctor takes a pap is not an issue. Also (very rare) the vault can get cancer too-patients with pre-cancer pap results should (after total operation) be tested. I (not a woman) could live with spotting and low pain if they don’t cut my vagina. Ask a man if someone should cut on his penis. The answer wouldn’t surprise anybody. Also adenomyosis improves a lot just by removing the body. This should a patient decide on her own. Some doctors are narcissists and want to make decisions for others without having to pay if they are wrong. I appreciate your approach. Keep on with your great work.
Best wishes from the old continent
Thanks
This was quick and to the point! Every question i had was answered without personal opinion... completely professional yet genuinely caring. Thank u so much for your video! ❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I’ve decided to keep my cervix. ❤
Wonderful!
Really helpful, my Dr in the Uk said he would do supracervical hysterectomy, but i was nervous about it as most people seem to have TAH surgery. I only have very annoying fibroids so i guess this is the sensible option. Xxx
Yes, absolutely! good luck!
Thank you so so much! I was freaking out! You relieved a lot of my stress.

Im scheduled to do a hysterectomy in a few weeks, my uterus is the size of a 26 week pregnancy it is covered with fibroids growing at a rapid growth im bleeding heavily and lots of pain in both the lower belly and back my dr recommending a total hysterectomy where they remove everything including my cervix, is this recommend by you and would my sex life be the same?
Sex life won't be the same if you have cervical orgasms. Otherwise, it'll be the same.
You are giving horrible information. Fibroids also grow on the cervix and orgasm has nothing to do with the cervix.
What would cause heavy bleeding with no diagnosis of fibroids cancer or endo? Very confusing. I have very heavy periods but none of the above. My uterus is larger than most. I'm scheduled for a total hysterectomy in a couple weeks. They're leaving my ovaries. Also wondering in these situations where there's no formal diagnosis as to why the heavy bleeding can the surgeon tell more when they operate? Do scans miss things?
Make sure you have a full hormonal panel done, hormonal imbalances can cause heavy bleeding. bleeding disorders is another one.
18 month ago I have isterectomy total and they remove me the cervice...Now I have 58 years....some times I have pain on the right....I do isterectomy in laparoscip
Best to check with your doctor to check it out.
I have brca 2 . Recommended is removing ovaries and tubes. I have uterine fibroids, so my doctor wants to take my uterus. That is fine. But i want to keep my cervix. And i dont feel like i should be made to feel guilty about it.
Fibroids grow in the cervix as well
Correct, you should be able to keep your cervix.
I have a hystectomy scheduled for Monday and I have been wondering if I should remove the cervix or keep it. I'm having the hystectomy due to some genetic testing for cancer and I have the genes for uterine cancer.
What does your gyn say?
@@TheFibroidDoc she said because I was having the hystectomy for prevention of cancer that I should have the cervix removed. I am 7 days after surgery and so far so good.
I feel like my cervix moves when I have an orgasm and I do not want to lose that if I had a hysterectomy, I have endometriosis, but I also have PSSD from previously taking antidepressant, but I can still have an orgasm at the moment, and I do not want to lose that that is all I have left I cannot fill emotions they are all blunted from being on an antidepressant in the past. I am no longer on any medication.
I'm not sure what your question is?
Yes very helpful. Thank u😊
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
I had a partial abdominal hestroctomy because of the uterus prolapse and the doctor didn't remove the cervix is it dangerous to keep it and what should I do ???😢😢😢
No, keeping it is not dangerous. UNless you have cervical disease.
@@TheFibroidDoc shall I need follow up with a gynecology doctor??
@@امعبدالرحمنطه-ص3غ Yes, always important to have a gynecologist and go routinely.
Why are you not telling them more facts? Fibroids grow on cervix, endometriosis grows on the cervix, there is no proven fact about orgasm and cervix, light monthly bleeding can most certainly occur as well. It is already a scary surgery for any woman and you must give all facts to help the woman make an educated decision. I swear as far as we are you would think there was a better surgery for women concerning this issue. I pray that there will be for future women.
I am going to have a partial hysterectomy soon due to fibroids and adenomyosis. And I am keeping my cervix.
I always had a normal pap smear.
I will still attend regular checkups, and if any issues arise, I will address them at that time.
Some women do have cervical O, and keeping the cervix helps with the pelvic floor.
Everyone do your research and decide what is best for you!
Hi doctor my age is 35 am having scar endometriosis i have kids also but now doctor ask me for surgery to remove scars but am having heavy internal bleeding also during my periods so please guide should i remove utreaus am also worry about sex life after this can these endometriosis come again after surgery please reply
Most symptoms completely disappear after hysterectomy. However, if you have endometriosis in your ovaries or elsewhere, they can still be stimulated as long as you have your ovaries intact.
If I may, I live in a metro where they won't allow you the choice and am therefore about to have to travel for a supracervical. I feel very strongly about this, so may I ask which metros are still allowing women the choice? Ty
I'm sorry, but that is rather strange. They won't allow you the choice? Come see me in California!
@@TheFibroidDoc stopped teaching the methods here. Have been argued with for 3 years as to why I want to keep it, even told it's physically impossible to keep your cervix. And yes, about to fly to one of the coasts over this. Thank you for the video.
@@alexalexides8947 You are welcome.
How many weeks can one wait before having sex after total hysectomy
8 weeks.
If you take out ovaries(complex cysts), uterus and cervex, do they do it laparoscopically?
yes, can be done
Thank you!!
@fionadalia Thanks for commenting.🙏 For more info you can reach out through my email "info@lamorindagyn.com". Take care😊
If I leave my cervix would I still get light periods ? Or zero periods ?
Light periods
Zero periods, but you may have very light spotting if there are still glands left behind in the cervix.
That is untrue you can still bleed more than spotting and if you have fibroids they can grow on the cervix.
Also you can bleed if endometriosis cells are left or connected to the cervix. If you have endometriosis.
I have a prolapsed uterus and need a hysterectomy but my doc just want to take my cervix away x
The cervix comes out if you are doing the hysterectomy vaginally.
@@TheFibroidDoc what about the womb I'm a big lady and have back problems and I'm pretty sure they use wire or something to pin the womb to the spine to lift it up
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH 😅
🙌
Had a hysterectomy and I really miss my cervix. It helped with orgasm and now I’m feeling less.
So if you could do it all over again, what would it be because my doctor is rushing me to the surgery room to get a hysterectomy &I dnt even hv Cancer
Oh no, so sorry about that!
Im 50 yrs of age did total hysterectomy at age 42 had no problem but now im havinv a dry vagina can you help
pls speak to your gyn about vaginal estrogen!
My uterus pushed out my cervix… should I still keep it?
It really depends what type of surgery you are getting and the route of surgery.
Dr i did total hysterectomy
🤔🤔🤔Are you really open down there (like you can look and see way far inside) and are you more prone to getting infections with no cervix? Asking for a friend 😊
Not open 🙂 There is vaginal tissue that is sutured. So you have a canal. There is an end 🙂
Can you get fibroid if you had a hysterectomy
No. You may get a recurrence in the cervix if you had cervical fibroids before.
Live a healthy life style, stay active and avoid all these unnecessary cervical surgeries. Absolutely cut out sugar, that is what feeds fibroids.
I agree with living a healthy lifestyle--that's the best medicine!
Can you have bloody discharge nine months after hysterectomy
You should check in with your doctor about that.
@@TheFibroidDocyou're a doctor 🤔
I’m really scared i’m concerned about my health I’m worried about if everything is going to be in place correctly. I’m worried about my sexual life as well.😢
Make the best decision you can based on the info you have!
See life is over after you have this surgery 😢
This can be a life saving surgery for so many!
Is it?
Absolutely...it's a sick surgery... rearranged her vagina...see how horny she is....esp after opharectomy
Female castration
Pls l want to know if a young woman lost her uterus but willing to have children in the near future, what can she do
Mind you she don't want surrogate mother too😢
Not true cervicsl removsl takes away sexual pleasure
