- In this video, I will be doing an illustration on Adobe Illustrator for iPad. Instead of jumping straight to the iPad, I decided to sketch out my design using an actual pen and real paper! I had no idea what I wanted to illustrate, but after I began my vision came together! I will be using Adobe Illustrator instead of Ipad's Procreate. I think the illustration came out awesome. I really love Adobe Illustrator and I hope you guys enjoy it too! Let me know what you think in the comments.

I would love it if you'd make this video much slower and longer and show us exactly what you did, the tools you used, how you used them, how to use the shortcuts etc. I find a lot of these videos just race through and I'm just left going, "where's the pencil tool."
I'm referring to those of us who aren't graphic designers but just want to play around and get into graphic art.

@@KalebGonyea or how ever long it would take to explain each tool as you're using it haha I'm I've had Adobe illustrator for 3 days and have a hard time finding exactly what I want to learn. I find it easier to watch someone like how you did your donut piece but without a time lapse! Either way it was still dope.

I used a combination of the pen tool and pencil tool! If you’re interested in different brushes and more of a procreate experience for vectors I’d recommend Adobe fresco!
How’d you draw the inking/detailed lines? Pencil or brush? It looked like you used pencil however I can’t make sharp lines with a pencil tool.
I would recommend using the brush tool, but I made this video before the brush tool got an update. I used the pencil tool and created shapes that looked like strokes. Hope that helps!
i have a question about the saving image. When i tried to save my image, my image is saving to gallery but when i click the picture to zoom in the image is turning to black
background. How can i fix tihs problem.
This is probably happening because you’re saving as a png. Since png’s have no background it looks black when previewed!

Haha that’s one way to do it. I have a video on here of me showing step by step how to illustrate a roll of toilet paper. I will do some more step by steps in the future!

Hi, why you don’t use the trace function? Or has only Illustrator Desktop Version this function?
As of right now the iPad version doesn’t have live trace. Also the trace function isn’t always as accurate as I’d like so I just trace it myself. Thanks for the question!
Hi! Is it easier to vectorize on the iPad vs the pc? Also I’m starting graphic design and I’m really looking forward on buying the iPad Air 4, would you recommend it? I’m going to be using mostly Adobe pack
Definitely recommend the new iPad Air, such a good device! I wouldn’t say one is easier than the other, but the iPad is more portable and convenient!

I see the pen and pencil tool but is there a brush tool?
And can you make shape lines with it?
There is a brush tool, but it works like a shape as opposed to a stroke. Good for filling things in or highlights as opposed to making lines with it. Hope that makes sense!

How do you then export it as a vector file on iPad
There is an export button on the top right of the app. This will give you multiple options including vector ones. Hope this helps 😁
Do you need a specific IPAD to be able to run Illustrator on it?
I think anything made with in the last 5 years should be able to handle it!
Hey just to clarify, you did not make a vector image because you made that art using Procreate correct? I thought that procreate couldn’t do you SVG art?
Great question! I used a program called adobe illustrator for iPad. Adobe illustrator is a vector based program. As of now, procreate is only raster based. Hope this helps 😀

Hello! As long as you didn’t create a background, the SVG should have a background when you export it. Are you exporting as svg for web?

It will, but it may not be very clean.

I honestly couldn’t learn anything moving at this Speed and I don’t know how to separate layers and things. It’s very different from procreate. I need something more detailed if possible.
