  • I have installed and reviewed quite a few HomeKit compatible smart locks on this channel and the Level Touch seemingly has everything! Security, ease of access, NFC enabled, and capacitive touch. In this video, I’ll install the Level Touch, enable HomeKit and take an in-depth look at what separates this smart lock from the rest of the pack. Is it the best? Let's take a look!

    Here is the end-all-beat-all lock integration!!! Have this Logitec Circle Cam integrate via HomeKit with Lever Touch (or older non-touch version) with FACE ID. The the lock wouldn't have to use a GeoFence. THAT would be an option that I would immediately buy for. GeoFence is kinda not-awesome if you're just taking out the garbage, for example. Just thinking. That way touch to LOCk and UNLOCK would work all the time.

    Question: I want to install lock on front door of our beach house. If I want to go for a swim at the beach and do NOT want to take my iPhone or any valuables to the beach with me, Will the touch function work on my return home as my iPhone has not left the security zone? Is there a way of using the touch function in this situation, like put in ipone into flight mode when going to beach, which would obviously be most beneficial?

    • @ReyG_HKSH

      No, you will need your device with you to detect you’ve left the geofences area and returned for the touch function to work. If you don’t want to bring your device with you to the beach you can bring one of the keycards instead and use that to unlock the door.

      Deadbolts are normally hallow too. You’d assume they were solid metal… nope they’re hallow too. I didn’t know that either. Since these are Bluetooth, I am very surprised that they haven't made these Thread compatible. Bluetooth has that latency delay when executing the command to lock or unlock and I would think Thread would make this almost instantaneous. I guess I can only hope for this to come in a future update. Thoughts?

    Scenario: I have Unlock on approach set. I enter geofence. Lock unlocks. I unload groceries. I set my phone on counter. I go to my car to get more bags. I forget my phone. The deadbolt locks. Because i am inside geofence, am I locked out without being able to touch-to-unlock?

I have to use a key at that point? or even if i have my phone, touch will not work again unless i get in car and drive a mile away and then back? I feel like having a key pad is needed now

    I can see the weak link is the actual dead bolt itself. The dead bolt holds a battery. Are you crazy? So, that means the metal on the dead bolt is thin, hollow, and weak. That dead bolt will break if the door is kicked in.

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  2 роки тому

      The bolt will not give out if the door is kicked in. More likely the door jamb will give out first.

      Agree, the price is a bit on the hight end but I would call this a high end smart lock. I think they had a sale this last holiday season so might want to keep an eye out for any discounts. Thanks for watching!

    Use a larger aperture and you won't have so many focusing issues.

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  2 роки тому +1

      I think you mean smaller aperture so that the plane of focus is longer. The camera I was using had finicky focus but the wider aperture was used to guide the attention of the viewer to specific points of interest. Thanks for watching! 🙏

    • @ReyG_HKSH
      @ReyG_HKSH  3 роки тому

      Likely because there is no existing wiring in most/all doors? Also, if you leave without your keys and there is a blackout, you’ll be locked out.

    • @ubacow7109
      @ubacow7109 3 роки тому

      @@ReyG_HKSH I mean they could have the battery as backup, and you can run a line right up into the deadbolt through a stud technically~

    • @ReyG_HKSH

      @@ubacow7109 Sure it’s possible but no homes are pre-wired for that and it would be an incredible headache for most homeowners. It wouldn’t even be an option for renters.

  • @anna45333

    It is a nice device but it is flawed because it has the stupid keyhole at the front that anyone can pick. I would prefer it if it had no keyhole and it was HIDDEN inside the door frame. So a thief wouldn't even know there is a lock there. Why they don't make this?

    This lock sucks!.....BAD!!!! I bought one and took it back the next day. The touch wouldnt work even after leaving my "boundary". The only way I could get it to unlock is to use the "hotel card". Also, on Android, the app takes over your whole phone. Im not kidding. As soon as you unlock your phone, the level app opens up like "You wanna unlock your door now"? NO! Close out of the application completely. Unlock your phone..."YOU WANNA UNLOCK YOUR DOOR NOW RIGHT!????". NOOOOOO! STOOOOOPPPP!!! Its the most annoying app ever. I just want to check my text, UNLOCK YOUR DOOOOOOOORRRR!! Delete! Return...no thanks. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCK!
