- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV. 550, in 1788. It is sometimes referred to as the "Great G minor symphony," to distinguish it from the "Little G minor symphony," No. 25. The two are the only minor key symphonies Mozart wrote. The 40th Symphony was completed on 25 July 1788. The composition occupied an exceptionally productive period of just a few weeks in 1788, during which time he also completed the 39th and 41st symphonies (26 June and 10 August, respectively). The symphony is scored (in its revised version) for flute, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, and strings. Notably missing are trumpets and timpani.
The work is in four movements, in the usual arrangement (fast movement, slow movement, minuet, fast movement) for a classical-style symphony:
1. Molto allegro, 2/2
2. Andante, 6/8
3. Menuetto. Allegretto -- Trio, 3/4
4. Finale. Allegro assai, 2/2.
Every movement but the third is in sonata form; the minuet and trio are in the usual ternary form. This work has elicited varying interpretations from critics. Robert Schumann regarded it as possessing "Grecian lightness and grace". Donald Francis Tovey saw in it the character of opera buffa. Almost certainly, however, the most common perception today is that the symphony is tragic in tone and intensely emotional; for example, Charles Rosen (in The Classical Style) has called the symphony "a work of passion, violence, and grief."
Although interpretations differ, the symphony is unquestionably one of Mozart's most greatly admired works, and it is frequently performed and recorded. Ludwig van Beethoven knew the symphony well, copying out 29 measures from the score in one of his sketchbooks. It is thought that the opening theme of the last movement may have inspired Beethoven in composing the third movement of his Fifth Symphony.

ENJOY!!!! :D
my music is great isnt it
Lord, why couldn't my parents force me to play piano when I was young
This was composed in 1788 and Mozart died in 1791 at the age of 35 (almost 36), so he was 32 when he composed this :)
“Forgive me, Majesty. I am a vulgar man! But I assure you, my music is not.”
― Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Classical Music are timeless. Why? Because good music does not have a timeline.
1. Molto allegro -- 0:06
2. Andante -- 7:40
3. Menuetto -- 15:23
4. Finale -- 19:43
studying for finals means listen to mozart... yay
stop watching all the coments and keep doing your homework!
It's easier to listen to instruments than people's voices
Can't wait for the new album!
I love this piece. Mozart rocks.
i listen to neo classical progressive metal and technical death metal, but i ame back here to enjoy music at its finest.
0:06 - 1st movement
7:40 - 2nd movement
15:22 - 3rd movement

I think this is my favorite of all the Mozart symphonies. Brilliant!
Have you never heard of the so-called "Mozart effect"?
And I wasn't talking about IQ. Mozart's music has been found to temporarily enhance performance in spatial-temporal tasks and reduce seizures in epilepsy patients. (especially KV448 and KV488).
how could be possible some people dont like this piece of art
man, if i really listen to this music with a pure focus, i just get this feeling of euphoria rushing through my body. It is amazing!
Definitely this music transports me to the infinite..
This beautiful sound came from heaven . Mozart is one of the great composers of course together with Brahms, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Strauss, Wagner , Bach and much more
So 429 actually don't like this music? How is this possible? I can't believe that tastes can legitimately be this different. I feel those people must be insane.
The most exquisite piece of music ever composed- every note is perfect and beautiful. A great performance of it too, the best I've heard.
FELIZ CUMPLE MOZART, EN ESTOS MALDITOS TIEMPOS DEL REGUETÓN TU MÚSICA ES MEDICINA PARA EL ALMA
Good luck.. May your health be completely restored. I had a stroke almost 30 years ago, and was almost completely restored after a few years. Mozart is probably a great way to restore your health.
Mozart with chopin and vivaldi are my life
Come to Brazil
An oboe and a bassoon playing in unison, with added flute at the end of the ascending run. This recording is of Mozart's first version, so it might sound different from recordings of the second version, in which some of the oboe motifs are played by clarinet.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart vs. Justin Bieber
Mozart: 1.000.000
Bieber: -1
This is a true masterpiece. Clearly the work of a genius.
120 dislikes?????? how!!!! WHO COULD HATE SUCH MUSIC!!!
yes yes yes
Earlier animaters were ingenious to choose classical music as the background music for looney toons
Mozart was a genius !!!
tout simplement incroyable. Mozart est le meilleur. I could and will listen to him for the rest of my life. And I'm 20 years old
I am highly devoted to Bach, but this symphony is a gem!
I have no words for this...I'm 21 now and I remember me listening to this symphony when I was younger in high school. I still enjoy it so much.
Finally! An interpretation that is played fast enough. Really well done!
Mozart is an amazing artist, I'm 15, and when I have children I will most definitely show them the fine arts of classical.
Music is a language that anyone can learn. The importance is that you enjoy learning and listening to it.
very pleasant to hear even toa person like me who has deep rooted interested in indian classical music. Mozart is a gifted person. i was lucky to have visited his birth palce in salzburg
I watch the snow melt, I watch the birds return-I am a soil scientist, not a music major- but this describes it PERFECTLY!
Oh this sounds like drops of heaven rolling around inside me !!
VIVE LA EUROPA
What a surprise! Classical music helped me to learn math more than anything else. Not only when doing homework, but mainly during 14 yrs od piano playing. All that time counting and counting... whole/half/quarter/eighth/16th/32nd/64th notes, rythm, metronome beats, pages... double it with hands, increase it tenfold with fingers, add some of three pedals. At the end, multiply it somehow with about 100 compositions. If someone listens to classical music when doing math, it´s the best he can do.
I played the first seven minutes of this piece back in December with 17 other people. It was honestly an experience of a lifetime. (All on pianos also!)
Scroll up and do your work.
I cant sleep with out listening to Mozart, Bach, Dvorak, Vivaldi etc
I can always hear Mozart all day long.
I always put this Symphony when I do homework and stuff, gives me such a boost!
I don´t know who performed this but the tempi seems to me as perfect and the clarity of the instrumental groups too. Simply a very good recording!
I'm playing this song at my Spring Concert in band!!!!!!
I feel as though I am one of the few who consider Mozart's Requiem to be his greatest work.
Yesterday it was your anniversary of death.. Rest in Peace King of Music!! You still are the greatest composer!! None could achieve your perfection in music!
such a beautiful song. I am the biggest fan of pink floyd, led zeppelin etc. but there is no doubt that mozart is the most talented man that has ever lived. He is a prodigy no doubt
Bref I love it :)
In my opinion, it is THE Symphony. Absolutely brilliant
Best symphony for me :) Great so good beginning! I love it
I love this music. When i was studying for state exam, which i usually dont do, i do much better with this playing! GIVES ME 440 in ela and 587 in math! YAY
Siempre amaré esta sinfonia con toda la pasión del mundo... Nunca me canso de escucharla... es increible...
Breath-taking. Absolutely perfect. Right up there with all my favourite pieces of music, and while I'm listening to it I cannot imagine anything being any better.
Who says people who listen to this only listen to this? That's either incredibly naïve or incredibly close-minded. Variety is the spice of life
Love this piece. Brings back so many memories from when I first heard it over 45 years ago.
Pretty sad that some people only limit themselves to one genre of music...
I don't want to die, just because I love this music
Recognition is important because it financially supports those who are truly skilled in their craft- not just those who can sell sex more efficiently.
I'm 15 but I love the classics. they have so many good symphonies out there its hard to get enough of it.
I'm listening and doing my physics homework. This makes it much easier
This takes me back to my childhood. I remember being at a video arcade in a mall all the time, and this was played in the background when the jukebox wasn't on. At least, the beginning of it.
La verdad la cancion llega al alma..
Mozart helps me transcend all thoughts to a state of being much higher than myself.
He helps me when I work ! :)
There were, are still plenty of classical musicians nowadays. Their music is usually called as 'contemporary music'. But you should know, Mozart was also a contemporary music in mid-late 18C. You should never deny the fact of change of an era, a century and a time. Don't think those pop musics are the extention of Mozart. Try to find and hear Penderecki, Ligeti, Isang Yun etc. Their music might be really complicated to hear, but good to recognize how the music is developed over hundreds of years
Not only more enjoyable, this music elevate us close to the border of the heaven.
In my perspective, i would have to say that Classical and anything similar would have to be one of the more interesting genres to listen to. don't get me wrong, i'm also a metalhead but i enjoy listening to classical because the pieces that were written back then can still be found in modern music. I guess for someone like you, you just have to build onto it and realize how beautiful, complex, and what a masterpiece Classical pieces really are.
The music are the universal lenguage, it's so lovely
Mozart is ABSOLUT PHANTASTIC !!
284 dislikes ???
unbelievable
Mozart was complicated
There wasn't really a demand for guitar music back then, that's why no published piece ever contained guitars. But Mozart, being the genius that he was, spent his free time rocking out on the bass guitar.
Mozart jest równie genialny jak nasz Chopin ^^
Absolutely amazing that he composed this. Truly amazing
Wolfgang Mozart nu a fost un geniu! De ce? Pentru ca nu putem vorbi de el la trecut.Mozart este !
Absolutely beautiful.
EXITANTE!!! LA MEJOR MÚSICA QUE PUEDA EXISTIR !!!
It's nice listening to classical music once in a while...
I know this'll sound retarded but what is the really famous song called, with the epic opening; DUH DUH DUH DUUUUH DUH DUH DUH DUUUUH?
Genius genius genius! !!
Lo amo!
Oh My God The Best Music Ever
This is probably my favorite piece from Mozart.
*breaks down in laughter*
de los mejores compositores de todos los tiempos...
you gotta compare who´s music will be heard longer, even after the death of the artist, even centuries later
i didn't condemn anyone, i just said that my hopes are low. Let's say that there was 70% of sucking musicians in the baroque era, truth is that the good stuff was apreciated and people were highly critical regarding music that's why shitty musicians are forgotten .Nowadays, music (in my opinion) don't have any taste, it became a product and the records labels are like "let's find some big chested half nude girl, make some repetitive electro/house music, and two sentences for the lyrics"
Qué belleza musical
Dubstep melts your brain cells and slows down the productive process.
Classical- well, does the oppisite. Explains why everyone on this internet speaks like "I HAVE BAT AN' I HIT U WITH."

Remember, comma splices are still considered a part of grammar. Fix them by placing semicolons between your independent clauses.
Feliz cumpleaños mozart!!! Happy bday!!!
Es maravillosa , gracias por la buena música.
Boy... that escalated quickly.
Im not... Im listening to it while farming lane in LoL xP
Ich liebe es
