This was actually the first No.9 episode I watched, purely because it was made in the style of 1970s TV, and being a fan of classic Doctor who, I was gonna love that. But on recent rewatch, now I understand the twist, I was shaking. One of my favourite episodes of this show.
The way this episode is shot, coupled with camp acting and direction makes this a treat and even the story inside the piece being filmed in this episode happens to be equally compelling despite the poor quality of the technical aspects - which is rare for even shows of the time, also the ending to this episode manages to still give me the chills, even though I've seen it multiple times great review guys 👍
@@UnleashTheGhouls You're very welcome if you want to know my thoughts wholesale I have a review of my own type WHIMS Inside no 9 and The Devil of Christmas - I go into a lot more detail there keep up the good work guys 👍
Along with Cold Comfort, this is one of the first episodes I recommend to people as it is truly brilliant and unique That twist still gets me and has honestly sparked a fascination for me (I’m not a psycho though)
Devil of Christmas has the darkest turn of any inside no.9 Deadline has the most horror turn of any inside no.9 And Bearnie clifftons dressing room has the saddest turn of all inside no.9's Hands. Down.
Best episode of the series hands down. My second personal favorite is Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room but when it comes to one you want to return to the most, The Devil Of Christmas stands supreme.
Great review of a classic piece of work with multiple layers. It's interesting that they're referencing Tales of the Unexpected when Inside No. 9 was itself like a modern day TOTU. The ending of the fictional story being filmed within the story reminded me of a segment from the Amicus anthology film The House That Dripped Blood.
Great Review- have you had a chance to attend one of the live shows Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith are doing currently about the show? (you may also know the voiceover joke was actually inspired by an incident where Steve had a voiceover to record during the filming of the League of Gentlemen !)
Have you seen the Bloody Olive short film? This episode strongly reminded me of that, and no number of twists can top it, nothing ever will after you watch it 😄
Just watched a nightmare on elm street 2 n thought it would be a good movie for u guys to review, its got some wacky moments, dogs with human baby heads for example

Of all the twists in film and television history, this one was easily the darkest! Felt like a punch to the gut when I first watched it!
It is SERIOUS. It hit with a truckload of genuine darkness
Same. Has anyone seen that actress since that episode? Just curious...
Definitely my favourite twist of the entire show. Absolutely brilliant!
Charlie Brooker enters..

This has to be the darkest episode, its so chilling , and that ending......

There's a hint that it isn't a directors commentary by the moment when they actually rewind a bit of the episode to focus in on a mistake.

The second I saw that plastic sheet I knew she was about to go bye bye 😢
Yep
Absolutely brilliant from RS and SP. The most shocking episode but absolutely brilliant
