Mastering the Ego How Buddhism Helps You Overcome Greed, Anger, and Delusion
This will be helpful for a lot of people, but those of us who were born knowing this stuff, know that the Ego does not actually exist. The personality does. I love nature, computers, and helping others when possible or allowed. I know what sympathy is but I reject it. People often think sympathy is empathy, but they are very different. Sympathy does not help anyone, empathy does. As does compassion. I understand greed, but I haven't been greedy in this current life..I'm cool with sharing, not because it's some kind of "right thing to do" but because it's natural inside me. Yet, I won't share with people who want to abuse it. When I was Christian I had a calm, mellow guidance that it wouldn't last, and often I sensed it wasn't truth because the Bible was made from other sources. I became angry in Christianity because I knew I'd been lied to by Church, and preachers. My reasoning skills were very good back then and remain so. Christianity was the source of anger & when I left it, a lot of diligent practice, I became free...and left the anger. Years later, I'm completely free from religions, and I do not use any of the lingo anymore, unless I have to relate with another with it.
I like The Buddha, it makes sense. Buddha does not call people broken (sinner), or tell them they'll be punished. Which reminds me of when I was Pagan. You cause your own pain by holding onto anger, misery, and sadness. No one can literally make you happy or sad. It's all YOU. Your (auto-)reactions...when you control them, you're mastering your mind. Deep mindfulness. I don't strive to be better than anyone else, I strive to be the best me I am able to be. Sometimes I fail, and failure is a wonderful way to learn and that's how you reach for, and get to, enlightenment.
I will continue to laugh about the Ego. Sharing is caring. Selfishness is very, very healthy, and to share how to be that is a lot of fun.
