Bit of a historical fact the f-15 is the only jet to ever lose a wing and still fly 10 miles and land perfectly

- DOGFIGHT ANALYSIS -
As the F-15 Eagle and the Jas-39 Gripen merge and go one-circle, the Gripen defeats the Eagle in the one-circle, the former being able to turn a tighter radius than the latter.
Both aircraft continue this one-circle regime for a bit. The Eagle pilot, realising that he cannot take the Gripen one-circle, decides to ditch out into a two-circle rate fight. At this point, the Gripen has an altitude advantage over the Eagle. Therefore, the Gripen pilot is able to convert all that potential energy into kinetic energy, which allows him to turn tighter and cut the Eagle’s circle to take the Eagle one-circle again.
Seeing this, the Eagle pilot decides to go vertical to try and force an overshoot. He probably assumes that the Gripen will overshoot, given that the Gripen came down with tremendous speed. However, he underestimates the Gripen’s ability to bleed off that excess speed and make tighter turns. After all, the Gripen is a delta-winged fighter; that’s the key to its minimal turn radius.
Unable to force an overshoot, the Eagle almost gets killed as the Gripen pulls the Eagle into its HUD. He is lucky to survive here as the Gripen pilot is late on the trigger.
Both aircraft go back into the rate fight. The Gripen, insistent on taking the Eagle one-circle, once again cuts inside the Eagle’s circle. He tries to take a high-aspect shot at the Eagle, but fails.
At this point, the Eagle should stay in this rate fight. Because the Gripen expended so much energy trying to take high-aspect shots, the Gripen is now slow and energy-depleted. Therefore, the Eagle should continue out-rating the Gripen until he can get onto the Gripen’s six and take a low-aspect shot.
Instead, the Eagle pilot, being the clueless rookie he is, elects to reverse his turn. Big mistake. Horrible, critical mistake. By reversing his turn, he ends up crossing in front of the Gripen’s nose, and gets himself killed.
Moral of the story:
Do not reverse your turn unless you are confident that your bandit will overshoot with that turn reversal. Because if he doesn’t overshoot when you do that, you end up crossing through his HUD.
yo really good analyze! i was the pilot of eagle, i also feel that i should have gotten more speed advantage in the second half. but because in his besiege mv he doesn't use addcustommod, i can't see over world boundary (in game) so i had no choice but to turn. to sum up it's hard to beat a fighter with good turning power in a tight space. i'll try it if he uses acm mod

Your missiles are tracking more accurately lately! And I love the proximity fuse on these missiles, a touch of realism.
Next time, for these dogfights, don’t shoot at each other until the merge as there isn’t much skill involved in that. Once you merge, then you can really test your manoeuvring skills to min-range the other guy’s missiles.

I’m impressed by the Gripen pilot’s ability to pull a Cobra and gun you from below.
Only bad thing is the F-14s bombs in-between the engines, it gets annoying when its about to land and BOOM! The fuselage is gone.

A cobra is a manuever when you pitch down a little then all the way up without gaining altitude and slowing your airspeed
yeah i just pull up for a bit. mathis's planes are have some distance between the COM and the COL for stability, and it is difficult to cobra maneuver because the top speed is quite low (iirc under 700km/h)
@@aarontheaviationaddict3643s not the missiles. At 10:43 the missile did not detonate because the missile frame wasn't destroyed because it fell of the hardpoint. The warhead detonated from the bomb placed in the engines or it fell with the missile frame.
And at 9:04 there is no missile on the Tomcat so it is confirmed to be a fault with his placements of the explosives in the plane. Another note is that missiles have a second warhead as the rocket in the back. You can see it in the A220 development stream because the APU unit regularly exploded because he used a rocket as the APU. The Tomcat does have this effect when it explodes before landing. Missile do because in the base Besiege, rocket thrusters explode when it makes contact with a solid object (like a castle or a unlucky airliner)
