I'm a boomer who grew up watching those cartoons. Around 40 years ago I was taking a break at work preparing to stay over. A co worker old enough to be my mother walked by me heading for her car dressed all in red. I sang out a few bars of the lady in red and she stopped and said 'how do you know that old song'? I replied 'from an old bugs bunny cartoon!!😅😂
I might think that my favorite usage of the song would be the first time it was used. A bit of a fun fact for that short (1935's "The Lady in Red"): it was released right in between a shift in the Looney Tunes series; the previous short was the final Buddy short, "Buddy the Gee Man", which premiered on August 24th, 1935, with the character never appearing again until the Animaniacs first season finale "The Warners' 65th Anniversary Special" (I could guess that while they were "filming" the Merrie Melody, they were sending Buddy off to his home planet, and he died on the way back to it, Poochie-style!).
Okay. I think probably of all the tunes used throughout the classic-era Looney Tunes, this would probably be one of, if not my favorite of them all. It's just unrelenting in its catchiness!

Something tells me that Friz reused animation from The Lady in Red for Toy Town Hall.
