I agree that a lot of their stuff is not super trendy. But it's an affordable and sometimes only option for extra plus size people. While I support the sentiment that we should all have access to cute clothes regardless of size, they should be given credit for not only keeping extended plus sizes but also expanding to even bigger sizes. While so many companies are shrinking their sizes, they are one of the very few who have not. It's not a perfect option but I hate to see then dragged for aesthetics more than anything else.

My mother was a seamstress and sewed many of my clothes (from age 10-16) to match my friends trendy clothes. I was the only plus sized person in my friendship circle. She just opens bags and tries on the clothing, doesn't make an effort to make it presentable (ie ironing or steaming the wrinkles out which makes them look crappy), doesn't make any effort to style them up like she used to, no suggestions how or where to wear them, it's just frustrating. I'm a WW customer. "Dowdy" is subjective, and a classic look is always in fashion. I was a seamstress for several years, and I dressed executive women in a classic way... they looked neither old nor boring. Dressing a figure properly is not a common skill anymore, and blatant and glaring colors shapes and fabric designs are the only look the young will countenance. I feel this is simply because they don't know a better alternative.
You can make better quality than you can ever buy. I have a set of master patterns I have used to sew my own clothing for over 40 years. If I were sewing for you the look would be up to date, but without the obvious lack of taste common in most ready made clothing today.

Soak the items in vinegar (and let them dry) before their first wash. This will “set” they dye and keep them from fading as fast. This brand saved me a few times because in the early days of online shopping, they were one of the few that shipped to Hong Kong where finding plus sized clothing is nigh on impossible - everything is geared towards teeny tiny females and generally the largest shoe size for ladies is a 39 or a size 6. I found some great pullovers and tops at Women within and was happy to have found them. Yes, some of their stuff is quite dowdy and matronly, but their prices are great and their shipping is fast! I have mentioned this before, but I really wish that clothing manufacturers for the plus sizes would stop using all of the synthetic fabrics like the polyesters etc. Do they think that just because we are plus sized we don't like or deserve natural fibres? I already sweat enough as it is in the hot weather in Hong Kong and to wear synthetic stuff that makes me even hotter and sweatier, that literally sticks to me is a big no! Thanks for the video!

I'm not familiar with this brand, so when I saw your intro, and based on the video title, I was prepared for some genuinely dowdy clothes. Instead, most of the pieces looked great on you (that red top would look amazing with a chic pair of white linen pants, and it really flattered your body shape). Based on the comments below, this brand is beloved by many who feel unseen and are underserved by other brands. I love your content but even as an objective outsider, I feel that your video title is very unfair, and the comments below prove that many people do indeed shop at Woman Within. And yes, ageism is a thing. Equating advanced age with frumpiness is par for the course in a culture that fetishizes youth to the point of sexualizing children, and is deathly afraid of any sign of ageing. So it's a good idea for all of us to be aware of this unconscious bias. But you can be stylish at any age, and also, style doesn't equal trend. It's just as important, if not more important, to dress for your body shape, your personal color palette, your lifestyle, and your personality. There are plenty of pieces I've seen from so called trendy sites that are so goddamn hideous and are totally unwearable. Every single piece you showed today is completely wearable and realistic for a plus size body, as opposed to what you'll get on the so called trendy sites. And let's not forget the budget, too. I think a brand that stays faithful to its customer and delivers decent quality, reliably styled clothing should be commended, not vilified.

Wow Anna I have been watchingnyou for a long time and this is one of my least favorite videos you have done. It's not because i don't like the piece nor it is because you don't look nice because you do. It's because even though Woman Within is not the typical trendy shopping spot, it is one of the very few affordable with variety places that us super plus ladies can shop and still look classic cute comfortable and sometimes trendy. If felt so much negative energy from the beginning of this video which set the tone of it for me. I still love you but come on now they carry pretty much all sizes and the sizing is pretty much true to size.

As a former size 30/32, Woman Within was one of the only places I could get clothes. I wasn't happy about shopping there, but didn't have much choice. It took a lot of searching to find young, stylish clothes. Their clothes are so inconsistentent in sizing and often cheaply made. It's just sad. Plus size people deserve better.
Also, there was not a thing wrong with that red shirt you said looked like something people would wear at a Midwest 4th of July.
It was just a simple red shirt and pretty classic.
I'm a bit crabby today, I'll admit it, but I don't appreciate anyone acting like those of us from the Midwest can't be fashionable. That sounded really snobby and judgemental. Also, I feel like often you wear your clothes far too tight, and these clothes fit and looked good on you, even if some of them were ugly and cheaply made.
I'm an average sized person now, but I don't want skin tight or revealing clothes. You can look sexy without everything hanging out, and still not look dowdy either.
And while I'm ranting, get some damn plus size models to model your clothes WW! It always drove me nuts that the clothes looked several sizes too big on the models. Get people that fit the clothes!

Stop using alienating verbiage and terms like old lady and old people. I’m sure you’ve made peace with being a plus size woman. I can remember a day when you would have been labeled “Super Plus”. Folks would have bashed you for wearing stripes and that flower top you have on. And definitely would have come for you for wearing tight mini skorts. But you overcame those days. Age is something we can’t change. If lucky. But age also has nothing to do with fashion. I don’t know what kind of 4th of July picnics you’re going to, but the grandma’s at the ones I go to, aren’t dowdy. I follow tons of Plus size influencer’s. Even when unhappy with a haul, they NEVER liable a look old lady or make those of us ( that are older) feel like idiots for following them. Watching this was hard. Quite frankly I felt how could she of all people be comfortable with labels. Some of the pieces you chose were cute, but some were not. I guess my point is. If you’re an influencer, do you really want to alienate a whole group of women because they’re older? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Women Within has been a source for women unable to afford top name fashion’s for plus women. Do another WW haul. But without the ageism. And only pick stuff you know would be worth your time.

@@Msleonoraful I stopped wearing certain clothing because it would create a certain reaction from strange men when I was out in public and it lead to uncomfortable and even frightening situations. I had a think about whether or not I wanted this to happen and about who these clothes are really created for. Women's contemporary fashion trends are created for the male gaze, to make women seem more sexually accessible in view of the public. I'm not comfortable with that personally, I want to choose who sexualizes my body and when. I used to believe that when I wore these clothes, I was just wearing them for myself and maybe I was in my mind, but then when I analyzed it in depth I realized that my experience was far from empowering and who the creators of fashion really made these clothes for.

You can be fashionable and modest. Kate Middleton isn’t running around in skimpy clothes neither is Amal Clooney. Jennifer Hudson, Adele - plenty of examples. It is ok to say you are not into fashion and trend toward practical. But, it is not right to equate fashionable with immodest

I recently thrifted a shirt that was originally from WW! It’s a charcoal gray button down baseball shirt with white contrast stitching and a lovely gentle flare to it, and it’s a little loose on me so it reads “art teacher” in a way I really like. It’s super soft and hangs well! Kind of a rayon/linen vibe to it. Admittedly I haven’t ever checked out their website, but the item I have has made it into my regular rotation.

I can't believe the negative bs you flip the choice to stick to modest clothing. Believe it or not, there is a whole culture that doesn't involve looking cute and childlike. Women of every size and age choose modest clothing because they are comfortable in it and like not being a distraction to everybody within a five mile radius. Women Within is a terrible company but the style isn't the issue. It's the sizing, the material, and the quality. I love the red tank, btw :D :D It's classic.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't look to someone who calls her channel Glitter and Lazers to be super supportive of modest fashion. If her style perspective seems too narrow minded, maybe she's just not the vlogger for you?

@@koshersalt179 I agree. I've bought from this company for 30 years. I still have some of the clothes I bought 30 years ago. They have held up well and are still fashionable enough staples. Skirts, blouses, t-shirts and I'm wearing an ancient pair of their shorts right now. Perfect for every day kicking around. I'm personally not at all comfortable in super tight clothes like she normally models. This is the first video in a while that I liked all the stuff she showed. I thought the yellow dress was too tight on her but otherwise it was all really classy. It's not matronly. It's called CLASSY.

I loved this video! I used to shop Women Within and Roamans. They had this cute oversized, shag, baby pink cardigan I will wear until it falls apart....but I won't shop there again. Their customer service was terrible when they shipped me the wrong size of something else and would not do an exchange. Also, their sizing is a bit inconsistent.

OMG that sweatshirt skirt totally reminded me that in high school I had a pink terry cloth skirt with pinstripes down the side that I wore with a white v neck Tshirt and mt knock off addidas with iridescent stripes and I thought I was so cool.

You liked some of the pieces
    I shop there
    They have many basics
There and Roamans have really helped me when I can't find a top that is long enough or big enough
They offer so many sizes shapes and colors
Hadn't seen some of these pieces though will have to look again :)

Women Within has bought out seven different stores. Woman Within had Jessica London and Ellos for younger styles. I’m 66 and in my black wide leg cotton yoga petite pants I look damn fine at 66 - my Ellos Trapeze Tee in sailor anchors is gorgeous. My shoes are cute,” too. If you want to buy the giant cat tees, go ahead. I also shop Target, Old Navy…I like some of your style, not all. I like a classic style . A gramma “4th of July shirt is okay with your light denim jacket works. Just my opine.
    I’ll keep watching !

Women Within, Roamans, etc are cool for affordable basic standards like leggings, boleros, dress suiting, & nightshirts. But also the reason I keep my measurements handy. Because the models are not plus-size at all.

I shop them a lot for my basics - t-shirts, basic pants, cardigans, some jeans, business casual tops for work. When they have sales, and then sometimes a coupon code on top of it, the price is Right! You do have to pay close attention to fabric and some styles are matronly, but there's a lot you can make work, especially for larger plus (I wear 26-30 depending on item and cut.)
