    Ruri has a critical misunderstanding, it wasn't someone defending blizzard it was someone attacking 14 off of a bad faith argument of there being 601 items in the store. Someone came into HIS calm stream and tried to start shit and this was the end result not him spontaneously going off.

    Part of the reason for Pyro's rant was the back and forth he had with MrGM who was trying to argue the Cash Shop and Mogstation were the same thing. But, the vast majority of stuff on the Mogstation is old event rewards, dyes (which you can get in the game anyway), and fantasia. There's some minions, mounts, and glamour that are in there, but they're not a ton better than what's in-game.

    • @CerberusMalt
      @CerberusMalt 3 роки тому +8

      Unlike WoW's store which it feels they intentionally design mounts for to look better than earnable in-game mounts, not to mention the price of things like fantasia and boosts are a lot more reasonable than WoW's race changes and level boosts. The boosts are also less incentivised because there's a lot less rigmarole to go though when leveling other jobs for your character unlike WoW where their leveling is still garbage.

      Yeah. I don't really like XIV having a cash shop but if it's an argument between which is more manipulative and detrimental to the game? There's no contest. Old event awards and the like aren't nearly as bad as literal currency buying.

    Pyromancer was really invested in Warcraft lore and theory-crafting and stuff .. bought every single warcraft book, comic, novel, Read every quest and lore text in the game, stand and listen to NPCs chatting and talking about stuff to connect the dots and present as complete lore to people as possible .. and the last straw that broke the camel's back was Blizzard literally destroying the lore.. so he used to put so much effort over the years and found all of that for nothing.

    • @ASIRA89
      @ASIRA89 3 роки тому +20

      so did I and other people in his discord. The main reason I game back to WoW after a loong pause (stopped curing Cataclysm and came back at the end of Legion). Was because I got into lore and specculation after watching all the Nobbel and Pyromancer videos I could find. -> joined Pyro's discord -> played through all the content i had missed, read every quest-text, every NPC lines, looked at all the symbols and visual cues, started to read/listen to the books and had a BLAST discussing specculation and theories with other "obsessed" people in Pyro's dischord. But as BfA went on, the amount and quality of discussion slowly went down. BfA was ...very bad in terms of the systems. But I was still invested.
      For the start of Shadowlands I levelled 3 characters because I wanted to play through all the covenants so I could see all the stories and content.
      BfA already felt like a chore, but at least I only needed to play 2 characters (1 horde, 1 alliance) to see all of the story. But in Shadowlands I would need at least 4 (unless i want to lose my covenant progress each time) ?? When I got to around level 20 on my Ardenweald Battlepass (reknown) I knew I did not want to do this on 3 more characters.
      The same happened to a co-worker at my job. We both were really looking forward for Shadowlands, but after around 3 months we both had quit (he even a few weeks earlier than me).
      To be honest, I still like the story/lore. I can see why Pyro is really frustrated though. For me, the biggest problem right now is the system-design. We get ever new carrots to chase and sink out time in, and then the systems get removed again. Ion Hazzikostas said in an interview that around 2012, he was in a meeting where it was decided that going forward, the game would have less evergreen content (content that stays relevant) and a big focus towards short-term content/systems. THIS in my opinion was the likely the signle WORST decision in the games development history.

      Two years later and I'm just gonna point out... for years Pyro WAS a Blizzard apologist. It wasn't until public perception changed that he ranted. I can see that Ruri went into this thinking the rant was just a heated discussion, nah full legitimate RANT rant.
    To give some background and context to people who have no idea about WoW or Pyro;
    Pyro has been there making content surrounding the lore of the game for years now so that people can be caught up to date and understand the context, actions and meanings behind characters actions in present-day content.
    With the latest xpac Shadowlands they have created character motivations and actions for Sylvannas [a consistent main character and developing antagonist] in the story which contradict previous content, establishing lore and have [rather lazily] further explained those actions in books outside of the game.
    Specifically, Sylvannas is a character that was killed by a lich, raised as a Wraith, broke free of the Lich's hold and established her own race of people to fight said Lich - forging a place for herself and her people [undead] in the ranks of outcasts such as Orcs, Goblins, Blood Elves, Trolls, Tauren [cow people] under the banner of the Horde.
    From this brief description you'd imagine that she is a strong character that detests being enslaved, slavery and xenophobia.
    And yet, she sides in the latest expansion with a villain that is basically Thanos who's looking to literally rewrite history [remake everything as he sees fit] once he collects all the sigils [infinity stones].
    During this time she sees him literally enslave everyone close to him in chains, finds out he's the reason that the Lich that killed her raised and enslaved her in the first place.
    That the Lich that enslaved her was directly under his control.
    And yet still chooses to side with him until last minute where her most powerful allies are enslaved by him, at which point she thinks: "something aint right here..." and betrays him as he opens the portal to go rewrite history and fails to stop him.
    To put into perspective why Pyro's pissed for FF14 players;
    Imagine if they took the ARR cinematic that explains ARR out of the game, however the game acts as if you know what's happened but just continues on anyway.
    Now imagine that they sold the cinematic as a book separately instead of being in the game.
    Now imagine that even though they sold that cinematic separately they decided to make Louisoix commit genocide on the post ARR world either as a cultist or as a member of the Garlean Empire.
    Now imagine that they decided that Louisoix had a change of heart last minute after committing genocide with the Primals/Meks and decided to try to attack the Masked cultists or Garlean Empire, failing to do so.
    Now imagine that out of all of that information all you saw was Louisoix's character commit genocide and then have a change of heart in a 5s cut scene for each.

    Pyromancer is a lore guy, considering how fragmented the storytelling in WOW is between game and other medium as well as the constant retcon, it's understandable that it would be frustrating for a lore guy like him. Furthermore, the general game system that seems to invalidate and waste player's time and effort along with recent realization of how the company works must have been shocking to some players.
    I said some, because I've watched other videos covering/reacting to this and there's a lot of WOW Andys in comments that keeps defending WOW or dismissing pyromancer as entitled gamer, having mental health problems, overly attached to WOW (he loved the game and its his livelihood). Just click on these commenters and you can see how they have been spamming the same rethoric on other videos critical of WOW or AB. The whole situation is just sad and frustrating.

    The cash shop issues can be pretty interesting. I know people IRL who have laptops running scripted bots on a 2nd WoW account that run around in circles killing and looting mobs 24/7, while they play normally at their primary account. This bot manages to earn enought gold to buy tokens for gametime for both of the accounts without any issues. These guys have done it for as long as i can remember... I don't agree with the method, but It's not like i can convince them to stop either and blizzard don't care. Wonder what would happend to the game if everyone just started doing that... since it don't really require a mastermind making a simple script like that /shrugs.
    I no longer care tbh. WoW sucks and it won't become better, It will take a miracle to change the game since the problems the game have is deeply rooted in he design philosophy.

    I imagine boosts make a lot of scenes in ff14 when you place a second character on another server/datacenter. Story is long and many people might not have the time to go through it multiple times just to play with people in different regions or other reasons like rp alts.

    Honestly, it's sad whenever a game revolving around lore and immersion becomes a second-screen game.

    Wow's story is in the game but only around 50% of it. Players don't understand motivations or reasons things are done. BfA despite how bad the systems were are a good launch story for the most part but NOTHING compares to FF14's story. Even Swtor makes WoW best stories look like shit. The story for wow is partly in game, partly in book and partly in cut scenes that are used as promotional material

  • @Revonlieke

    The interesting part here is the fact that WOW players specifically didn't want to move on to XIV, knowing their game was on a steady downhill.
    Praised the story of WOW to the ends of the earth and I know for a FACT that it was due to these players never playing anything else. Never wanting to accept the truth, because it hurts. And I know it hurts.
    If I ever met anyone IRL who played wow and asked if they played the latest release of ANY GAME, the answer would no, because WOW was their life and it was the only game worth playing.
    Either being stuck there due to your guild forcing you to join raids or just not knowing what else to do. Afraid that playing something else would make you fall behind on something important or otherwise. God forbit you'd find an actually good story driven game to enjoy.
    And to me it was sort of sad to see this, but I understood the addiction.
    But I never understood the absolute refusal of giving something else a try for a change. As if it was the enemy of your beloved WOW.

    That's the sad part, even if you like the world and the game;
    "These are the content creators that have to explain the lore to people, because blizzard doesnt bother to do it."
    I actually REALLY like the WoW universe, setting, characters and they've ruined one of my favorites by making her a villain, but worse still - a half assed villain.
    Worse than that, they hide her thought processes which could be condensed to 5 quests at most and instead play a 5s cutscene of her committing to and backing out of being evil.
    And none of it makes sense, because she's supposed to be this big brain 9head that's out playing the entirety of the Horde, but she cant figure out that a guy called the JAILOR, who ENSLAVES people and PUTS THEM IN CHAINS is not about freedom, like are you for fucking serious.
    I didnt think it bothered me this much but I'm actually mad.

    As a newer (sorta...long story) let's say newer dedicated player...I'm as casual as can be and I currently have 121 hours and just about to Heavensward, now take into account I have diversions, probably the first 20 hours is because I did every single side quest until someone said to do otherwise. Also at level 48 I had just discovered the Saucer and I have spent a good 10-12 hours total there, spent about 10 hours fishing and doing things like a couple starts to a couple jobs, the Hildibrand stuff, and maybe some afk at times. So conservatively I'd say ARR is under 100 hours even watching every cut scene if you don't goof around and that's maybe quicker then say GW2 which is possibly twice that time to yes 80 but it's still the base game for comparison. I am a final fantasy fan going back to the 80s, this does affect my viewing of the story but it's more the systems in how the story progresses, seems to wrap into many aspects of the playtime itself fascinates me. I have watched Pyro's stuff over the years, met him in game once or twice so knowing enough about him when I orginally saw this I totally understood even if blizzard and I haven't seen eye to eye for a long time.

The ppl that just work there have to get payed because there is a case against the company. It is the companies fault to let it go in this so the CEO need to just pay up there salaries. you need to look at this way to have a better understanding. you buy the subscription or buy the game. That many you spend is going the CEO first then it goes with a % (don't know how much) goes to the ppl that works there. Believe me the % is much higher that goes to the CEO then to the workers.

    This one is also good, because you talk from a different perspective that any other person. Good! I like to compare opinions, next to my own ;)
    But, I also like GOOD sound... could you balance the sound levels a bit more? Every time you talk, I have to put my sound down, and when the Video sound comes trough I have to boost the volume again..
    Great video dude, this is just a bit of friendly advice =)
    It's way easier to follow if you have your voice, and the reaction video sound level around the same level (you're pausing the video anyway before you give your opinion, you dont need to exceed the video level of sound if you're pausing)

Also, I farmed gold in Shadowlands because it was piss easy, I bought 9 months worth of game time for 0 €, ZERO, I almost played their game for free, I bought the first month to level up my character (December last year). the players calling it not pay to win? probably put in alot of money and still lose, so to them its not pay to win coz they are paying and still losing but they wont admit how much they have paid so it just comes out as ... its not pay to win. i personally have not touched a blizzard game since i played wow at a friends house when i was about 16 and we would pvp on his twinks ect on weekends ect but i never even had my own account, after that i herd about blizzard payed alot of money to put addictive things into there game, that made it so addictive (this alone was enough for me to not touch blizzard games - is just quite predatory behaviour , and i see these techniqes in other games i generally lose interest too) it caused parents to sue and some even WIN vs blizzard for there childs death's. i never touched any of the dirty businessmen's blizzard games since for over 15 years now. i would offen get recommended games that would be made by blizzard like StarCraft or diablo or whatever but even after downloading the game apon finding out it was made by them i just lost all interest knowing how the company generally was.
    hilariously not wanting to support blizzard was a very unpopular opinion back then as there where becoming the giants of the industry. my friend i did play wow with, even accused me of claiming to not want to support them just coz i dident wanna pay the sub fees coz i had enjoyed some of the low level twink pvp i had played... but really how i saw the game was slow combat , corny cartoon graphics , and very long winded and expensive compared to many free rip-offs i did play world of kung fu (WOKF) for many years thou loved that shit till i got sick of how stupidly pay to win aswell it became in trend with how wow had gone, even when the level cap in WOKF changed to 140 we where still on lv 80 twinks just pvping in arena ignoring new content, but it was basicly a free to play rip-off version as all mmos of that era where kinda called coz they copied the wow mmo concept.
    what ultimately killed WOKF was basically what was described as gang extortion , back then RMT was essentially legal ( my school or clan was called the black market and we did run the black market basically) there was no terms and conditions against it atleast in WOKF si we would just farm on our lv 80 chars sell the coins ect but the gang extortion on the RMT side of things got to the point where one clan (called wu tang clan hilarious reference) totaly dominated the whole SERVER anybody who even tryed to exit any town would just be killed in pvp at the gate and essentially farmed for reputationand when #1 on the rep list that allowd you to be king of that zone/town that came with op kings armour with the best stats in the game and it was a fashion that you could equip ontop of regular gear , not only that but the king could deligate a handfull of subjects of his fraction witch provided stat buffs to there character for the duration that person remained king of wei or what ever zone and they would be like the envoy of wei as a title above your name basicly the ultimate bragging rights in the game where being king or one of his personal guard's , and unless you where either willing to one pay to get that strong , or pay there taxes to be ALLOWED OUT OF THE TOWN to grind .... you just quit or sat in arena/ some hidden out of bounds area in the edge of the starting town on some white background mountain pvping with some intense kung fu nonsense.

    It's because people live in a black and white world and have no sense of nuance. It's gotten so bad that you can't even critique FF because the rabid fanbase see's any critique of FF as a compliment to Blizzard. Same thing with American politics, you can't critique trashy corporate same donors as republicans having democrats because any critique of a democrat is somehow a +1 for republican in their mind. People lack the ability to separate the opinion of one particular point and the defense of the subject. I do a lot of political and social debate and I encounter this A LOT. It's a shell of a game. Their business plan needs to change, all the lore needs to be in the game. Novels need to be about some completely unrelated stories to the current WOW lore. Plus the story is ruined right now. Pyromancer is right. There is no reason to play this game.

    It seems to me that Blizz ripped the token idea from Eve. Only difference is, Eve's token can be used to sell OR redeemed for another month's subscription making grinding for one worth it in case you don't happen to have $15 to spare that month. Correct me if I'm wrong but you can't redeem a token for a sub month in WoW which basically screams Blizz is trying to get a cut on the goldfarmer's market.

    • @tjl9458
      @tjl9458 3 роки тому

      Yes, you can use a token to pay for a sub month. Basically, people buy the token for $20 and Blizzard sells it to players for in-game gold. That amount of gold is given to the person who bought the token. Anyone who has the token can use it to either pay for a sub month or they can get $15 (I think) of Blizzard Balance to pay for things like store mounts. Realistically, people only buy tokens with gold to pay for their sub. Farming enough gold to buy something like a store mount on top of that would amount to farming enough gold for 3 tokens (or more). That's why Pyro says nobody does that.

    The indie company servers in Blizzard entertainment can't handle it.
    Support private servers will hurt Blizzard, so they end ruining their reputation to the point of giving up entirely on the IP by trying to cease and desist them all.
    Continue supporting Blizzard and die along with it, or join us in private adventures.

    Comparing wow's level boost is not possible. Wow is torture to level from 1 to max for all characters and the main point is to get new race/class combos for themes. It takes a long time of boring and tedious content, where leveling is just stupid because it doesnt help, and you dont learn anything. They might as well delete the old wow content. The gear treadmill is so fast that new content becomes pointless because you can farm old content so much faster

    Pyro made all the good videos about the lore of WoW an explained every tiny bit he found out for the players that are interested
    But Blizzard make everything so vague and split it in so many pieces over so much time that it is now just junk.
    Pyros whole worklive is around this and the Company just shit on WoW and on many of their employees and the WoW patches and addon gets worse and worse and the money milking stronger and stronger.
    And now where people are leaving, magicly Blizzard pushes patches out that have features that fans wanted for years.
    The bad thing here is, they can do this anytime BUT they dont BECAUSE they know, the players always get some good stuff and than you milk them a little longe.
    Like crack, first a little for free and than high price when the addicted want more, the crack gets less pure so the dealer gets more money out of it and the costumes get more ill every time.

    When Sylvanus burned Teldrassil there really was no illusions anymore about how poor things had become. Especially since it amounted to nothing and was just purely there for shock value and to give streamers something to talk about for a bit.
    All WoW is made for is for a reaction, it doesn't matter what the reaction is but just a reaction. There is no bigger meaning behind any of it or some grand narrative for any of their choices, it's just make it up as you go along and do something big to make people go 😮 or 🤨

    This problem is an easy fix right ? to not make it pay to win ? Just dont let people sell the tokens. You can buy it for gold or $ , but you cant sell it? The question whether they wanna do it or not.
    To be honest , if wow didnt feel like prison .. I could ignore the p2w aspect.

    I bought a boost and story skip because as a dumb 19 year old i got doxxed and hacked and lost pretty much every account i had in terms of gaming. so i skipped to the end of heavensward which is where i ended my time back then, its great to be playing again, like nothing ever changed. but not everyone has the same experience

    No, leveling isn't haard, the game itself isn't hard outside of extreme/savage raids, but leveling alt jobs is tedious af. Yes a learning curve is great, but oh god is it tedious.
