I feel like it was an earned M through the concept and execution of gameplay, and a little strong language. Not a cheap M for gratuitous violence or adult content. It wasn't M just to be M.

@@aarlavaan yea, call of duty games just add excessive violence and swearing, rather halo (which still has some) has more thought out reasons for M, like the flood, and the Covenants extreme religious beliefs. Come to think of it a lot of halo can be seen in the real world.

@@specmage1247 I didn't start playing fps games until last year with Republic Commando, then I played half life 2, then half life 2 again when I realized that adding a parent account let me sign in for games from xbox 360 and then I played almost all the halo games on the master chief collection, only started to play halo 4 but decided to do reach and now I'm re-doing CE on legendary

I met Harry Hmura (guitarist for Halo OST) by accident last year. He lives near me, and was playing some music at a local restaurant. I liked it, went to let him know I really liked it, and after chatting he asked if I had ever played Halo. My eyes lit up when he told me he was behind the guitar solo for my favorite song on the album - Rock Anthem for Saving the World.
Apparently he and Marty (as he called him) go way back and grew up in Chicago together. Harry is still around but Martin is somewhere in Cali.

the music was the best in the first game. so mysterious almost melancholic, such a wide range of notes and memorable melodies. I miss it and good games that opened ones imagination

My literal childhood right here. When this game dropped I was in the 5th grade and I begged dad for one until I got an Xbox and a copy of Halo CE for Christmas 2001. Few moments in my video game experiences since then have come even remotely close to the excitement I felt unwrapping possibly THE best FPS game ever made. Those were good times.
when halo ce came out i wasn’t even born. i was born in 2003 and i got and xbox and halo when i was 7 and it was my favorite game ever. after that i went on to buy and master every other halo game

I'm with you guys, I was a young and impressionable kid and CE blew my mind at the time. It's easily #1, it was the funnest and most advanced for it's time. Those who played 2 when it launched should remember well the frame rate issues it had, the cliffhanger ending, and the entire cut level. 2 is great but it's not even close to the level of CE, that's a once in a lifetime kind of game.
Don't know why but I find "A walk in the woods" just so incredibly nostalgic crossing those big open ice glaciers whilst blasting my way through the covenant.

It took me and my best friend almost an entire weekend to beat halo on legendary. Never had we ever cussed each other out for the little things. But never have we ever cried tears of joy at beating that difficulty. This game and it’s soundtrack is a league of its own.
It truly was groundbreaking and you had to play it when it came out to fully understand. The lore made your imagination run wild, the mystery of the covenant and space. The music was epic and unparalleled for a video game at the time. The gameplay visceral and exciting, even the multi-player was absolutely great in every way. I maintain to this day it is the best Halo game, even if only for it's impact.

This was my first gameplay when I was six years old back in 2006. My dad introduced me to this awesome game on his Xbox. Ever since then i've been hooked with video games. That's a way to introduce someone to video games. I miss the days when my sister,dad,and I used to play games together,and hangout. Now everyone in my family is off doing their own thing. God I miss being a kid. I miss the good old days. I HATE getting old.

It’s mad thinking about the crew of the Pillar Of Autumn and how 99% of them perished in the battle of Installation 04.
Imagine just crash landing on a foreign land with an entire Covenant fleet on your tail and still managing to give them hell. It’s crazy how much of a fight they gave the Covenant. They were the real heroes. RIP POA Crew.

I remember when this came out. We were floored by the capabilities. The art design, the feel of the gameplay, online multiplayer.. it was so new & cool! But the MUSIC.... that unbelievable Marty O'Donnell music... it was ethereal. It had a unique & captivating feel about it from the jump. My friend noticed that the music changed depending on what you did in the game. It was dynamic! We scrambled to get the surroundsound working. The music wasnt a simple level soundtrack, but part of the experience! WHAT!? Halo made the Xbox feel like a quantum leap in gaming. Xbox owes its success to Halo and Marty had a huge role in the success of Halo. His music made us feel like we WERE the Master Chief!

God I remember watching my brother play Halo 2 when we were young, he got that game and an xbox from I think our father’s mother’s something or other and he let we play it with him and those are my first Halo memories. We played Halo 2 so much I would always ask him if we could play Halo on the weekends or whenever we didn’t have school. Then he bought a used copy I think, of Halo CE and he would always play the game through once by himself and then we’d play it together. I remember once we were playing slayer and I won like 5 times in a row and he was so surprised.
I sucked at Halo the first times I played it but he gave me pointers and I got better. When Halo 3 came out we did the same thing. Reach too and ODST that was our bonding activity was playing the Halo games. Eventually I played by myself and I used to love Halo 2 compared to the other 2 but when I was playing CE alone I think that bumped up on my list. I finished Halo 2 and I still actually haven’t finished Halo 3 yet which is a shame cause I played the whole of Halo 4 before finishing 3 alone.
Anyway listening to this and Halo 2’s soundtrack is nostalgic for me, brings back all those memories of my brother and I being kids and getting along and just having a great time :( I miss those days. He’s not dead but we don’t play Halo together anymore

I had a bit of an odd halo experience. By the time I was old enough to remember the story and understand what was happening, Reach was already released. I wasn’t able to play any Halos other than Reach and 3 until MCC came out. Lemme tell you, finally getting to see what happens between those two games was an experience like no other
Haha, fucking way to go man. I passed halo 4 with my brother a long while ago. Sometime later, we got halo reach and beat that, too. After we were gifted an Xbox one s, I bought the MMC. Currently working on finishing odst and 2's campaigning. I can't even describe the feeling Reach gave me and odst is giving me. Don't have a lot of time nowadays but I've sworn I would finish them.

@@sierrachief117 Assault On The Control Room, if you steel the banshee on the bridge above the control room, on one of the structures above the control room near one side you'll start to hear the music play.
I'd recomend a video guide though because it might take a bit time find with trial-and-error

As someone who grew up with Halo CE and Halo 2, being able to switch between the remastered graphics and original graphics at any time with the push of a button on the Halo CE Anniversary was really cool.

2002 I remember my wife had just left me and I was alone in the apartment wondering what I was going to do. My friend lent me his XBox. I had a copy of Rallisport Challenge, and a copy of this game everyone had been talking about for a couple years since the launch of XBox. It was called HALO. With life as I knew it falling apart, I thought HALO might take my mind off my problems. Pretty soon I was playing HALO and listening to these beautiful songs as the story unfolded. I was the Cheif. Cortana was there to help me. I think HALO helped me get through a tough time all alone better than any shrink could.

With how rough Halo Infinite was at launch, & the changes made to Halo by 343, did they have any other choices but to finally listen to the community that's been here longer than their studio?
There's so much passion in design with older Halo titles.
