The importance of music therapy for Dementia sufferers

- Please watch to the end. I work in a dementia unit on the south coast where we use music therapy weekly. This clip is of an 85 year old dementia resident show casing the joy, that music can bring and the memories that music can invoke. Music does not discriminate, moving the souls of both the young and old alike. Please share this for Alzheimer's awareness month thanks.
How beautiful she was so happy singing away and even when the music stopped she wanted to carry on singing I could watch and listen to her forever ❤️❤️
She is such an amazing soul. Made me so happy watching her sing like a bird.
By listening to just a few notes of the song, her face lit up with so much emotions that she began to sing!

greeneyes92061 I’m a nurse’s aide. If she was living in a facility at the time, I can virtually _guarantee_ that she had some kind of music therapy. We’re always singing to our residents, playing music, having little concerts, pulling up UA-cam videos for them, etc.

Hi Liz , Every Wednesday when I am in the unit at some stage of the day I will do music therapy, i actually have a karaoke machine which puts all the words on the TV screen and hooked up to the PA system. Some residents can't read the words but they know the songs some still have the cognitive ability to read the words so they singalong. Some residents just tap their feet move a finger or some get up and dance. I love their interaction, if I do it after tea they want to stay up and in the afternoon it seems to settle so it is very theraputic.
