From the time that he was much younger, Scott Hamilton played as if the instrument was natural to him. Great improviser from the very beginning of his career.
Best tenor sax player in Jazz today. Extraordinary. Never plays a bad note. He’s as nice of a human being as he is a Jazz musician. If you ever get a chance to hear him live, don’t pass it up.
Agree with you. Lyricism, elegance, musicality, and effortless inprovisation are the hall marks of Scott Hamilton and no superfluous notes to parasite the melodic lines he plays. I had the good luck to hear him in his youth in New York in the late 1970s. He played more licks than he plays now, but even then he was outstanding and always played the melodic lines which few jazz musicians seem to play these days. He lives in Barcelona these days and often plays with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and the Andrea Motis Quintet between his tours. In 2019 just before the COVID Pandemic I went to the Sant Andreu Jazz Festival which is held in Barcelona every September and was delighted to hear him play every day during the festival and had the pleasure of chatting with him. Like you say, he is not only a great jazz musician but also a wonderful person. The kids in the Sant Andreu Jazz Band simply adore him. Whenever I hear Scott Hamilton play I always feel that's the way the tenor sax should be played in jazz.
Not only he is a great saxophonist (probably the best one alive): he is also a super-nice person and a wise man. I had the opportunity of chatting with him after a concert this summer. In about 20 minutes of listening to what he said, I learned a lot about life and about music.
Scott came to Japan about 30 years ago Fujitsu jazz festival but I really wanted go to his show. i’ve been listening to his saxophone now i’m 51 years old. i’m still want to go his show this is my dream please come to San Francisco. my favorite song is “East of the sun” still very beautiful
Hello Friend in Japan it is great to know our Countries are peaceful. I can watch Scott on You Tube and be mesmerised in another World. My other favourites are Paul Desmond and Larry McKenna

Thank you so much this is one of those video's that brings so much joy to those who are not abel to visit these venues anymore .. mister Hamilton used to be such a nicely dressed performer, but than again his music is still the best .Regards Andre Netherlands
When I had first happened upon the great artistry of this quite bad sax wizard I was about two years or so out my nostalgic teens and my early adulthood anxiously awaiting me with its alluring wink to its better knowing bosom. My maiden listening occassion of this mainstreamer was equally blessing my Jazzy keen ears with the tenor duo featuring the Great Scott with the already seasoned Buddy Tate. I never looked back. What musical harmony projection that makes his music agreeable is surely a boon to generations of music lovers the world over. His is the kind of music one could play for your grandma and pa even your kids and grandchilren without effecting generational strains. It soothes a broken heart and comforts a troubled mind. It reaches all out even to sprained emotional channels and revitalizes a love deal instead.

Yeah he's amazing. The guy blows me away! He's so damn smooth and grooves like no other.... so laid back, even when he's playing fast.
Scott is the most “seamless” player I have ever heard, and real joy to experience live.
"Seamless" is a great metaphor for his FLOW. Thank you, from Caracas, Venezuela

I've gotta see this guy in concert someday. Damn I wish he'd come to Salt Lake City. I've been listening to his stuff almost devoutly lately.

סקוט היקר. בנוסף להיותך נגן מקצוען ברמה גבוהה ביותר. יש לך רגישות ויכולת אלתור בכך לדעתי הינך בקבוצת האיכות של נגני הג'אז. ד"ש מישראל.

Davide, where and when was this recorded please?
I believe this was in Novara, near Milan, Friday 9 December 2016 at the Nuovo Teatro Faraggiana.
I think in NEW YORK , 16 March 2023 but I could be wrong.
