Practicing Violin, Drowsy Maggy to play with a lady and her Bodhran. Started with a metronome, but as soon as I play with you the accents just come in naturally. Thank you!

Thanks! I'm too addicted to the same couple jig rhythms, and I have something new to practice now. :)

I play Tommy Hayes upside down styke. This works well on my style. Thanks for sharing

Awesome! I love it. Glad it works with your style! To me, that’s exactly what we should be doing to develop our own sense of style through learning - trying lots of different things and then using what works best for us 😊

I like the sound of your Bohdran. What is the brand and size?

    •  3 роки тому

Thanks so much, it is indeed a beautiful bodhrán! This one is an MONss signature model from Christian Hedwitschak and my main drum for at least the last 7 years - I love it! You can see more here: www.bodhranmaker.de/seite/482275/martin-o%E2%80%98neill.html

I really like your playing and lessons and always wanted to ask you..is that a 15" Bodhran or 16"? Thank you.

    •  2 роки тому

Oh thank you so much I really appreciate it! :) my drum is the Martin O'Neill (MONss) signature series made by Christian Hedwitschak, it is amazing! All of his drums are beautiful. It's a 15" drum. You can see more on Martin's site here: www.martinoneill.com/shop/monbodhran/ or more of Christian's work here: www.bodhranmaker.de/index.php hope that helps!

Is that dragon skin spicy? From Hedwitschak?

    •  3 роки тому

Yup this is a Hedwitschak! The MONss signature model 😊 I love it!

@ i have a custom. I thought you might of played a Séamus O kane. I have a Séamus O Kane. But i prefer my Malachy Kearns. An bhfuil Gaeilge agat féin? Tá Gaeilge le mo thoil

    •  3 роки тому

@@Irishceol nice! 😊 I have a couple of Seamus’ drums too which I absolutely love! They are about 16 years old now and sound amazing but I just tend not to play them as much because they feel a bit big for me. I do gig/record with them both when I’m playing with bands and not teaching tho as they sound so different. Ahh sorry I don’t speak Gaelic unfortunately!

@ i like his mine ar 16 i think his last before retiring. But I prefer my 18 Malachy Kearns. I'm not a tape fan. I like Siobhán shes a nice player hedwitschak i think. I like wet the skin play low sounds. But on a Séamus can't do that but i love the texture
