I was only 15 when I found myself in Marion's master class in Nice way back when. Within the first 10 minutes of my first lesson he fixed my playing. I'll always be grateful to him for that! This is indeed a fine performance... but after you hear Denis Bouriakov you realize he's the greatest player ever.
Hi Ilya thanks for the comment- Yes Alain was an incredible teacher( and player). Denis Bouriakov is an absolutely phenomenal player- inimitable! I don't ever think there's a 'greatest' player though-each really great player has his or her own musicianship and voice to offer :)
Truly beautiful rendition and every tone so clear and understandable. I really like how much emotion he transfers in this actually wild piece. Thank you Marion and Jane!!!
Thank you for keeping his legacy alive, Jane. I studied with him in 1969. His playing and teaching changed and evolved progressively rapidly after that. I'd love to compare notes with you, and I'm truly glad he had you as a friend in later years.
Willa thanks for your great comments...please come and find me on FB JaneRutterFrenchflute send me a msg and we can then compare notes. One of the things I admired and loved about Alain was ability to absorb and transform, whilst staying truly himself all the very best to you JR :)
Thanks Jane for posting this. I could hardly find any better interpretation of this piece......
