- Vans presents the new surf documentary, “Breaking Boundaries: A Surfboard Drive for Trinidad & Tobago.” Breaking Boundaries spotlights pro surfer Chris Dennis and his ongoing efforts to provide underserved youth in his native country with access to the same escape he credits with saving his life - surfing.
Through close friends and Vans family members Dylan Graves, the Gudauskas brothers’ and their Positive Vibe Warriors Foundation, Chris hosted a surfboard drive for Trinidad & Tobago and collected over 200 surfboards. Building on this support, Chris officially founded the non-profit surf therapy program Waves for Hope - Trinidad in 2019.
Chris’ program is not only providing a recreational platform in the ocean for kids, but he is literally saving lives by keeping the local youths off the streets. As a result of the Board Drive, the interest in surfing has grown throughout the community, kids have a way to express themselves positively and creatively, as well as a means of staying out of trouble.
Through this project, the PVW foundation and Chris’ spirit, the board drive has set to alter the course of Trinidad & Tobago’s sporting history while enabling the youth to take a healthy and creative path through Surfing.

This is true good work through charity. I can be quite cynical about billionaires and multi-national corporations that parade their 'generosity', when every cent is just a tax write-off. But, that feeling melts quicker than fresh wax in the sun when I look at this tale of so many people just doing good because that's what they wanna do. You guys have done what I only aspire to. And for that in this instance I can only offer a deep and sincere bow, a smiling shaka, and a heartfelt "Fukin, Chur my Bros!".
I shared this to a few Group Chats. So many lovely Responses Chris. One of my replies was. 'THERE ARE STILL SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE, WITH GOOD HEARTH'S" ! PITY THEY HARDLY MAKE IT TO PARLIAMENT.

Surfing is a funny thing in that sometimes you see a friend do something or pull something off, u might be more happy for them than if you had done it yourself.
Too often we don't hear of surfers giving back especially in regions that could benefit the most. This is awesome. Been to and surfed Tobago a handful of times. Best times of my life. Cool locals, food is out of this world especially Doubles..

I was one of the first surfers in Tobago; 1972. I've run into some surfers who thought we shouldn't leave boards with the locals, which I thought was a BS attitude. I've left a few boards down there over the years.
