- Luxury has become boring, jaded, done, are we all just over it? With the houses releasing more and more collections, with everything becoming a little unimaginative, are we all just done with luxury? In this video I talk about how I have become a bit bored with luxury, how nothing is really exciting, and why this has led me to be buying very little at the moment, I have bought one preloved Gucci bag this year for $600 and no other luxury bags since November 2023. Let me know your thoughts on being bored with luxury.

Hunting down vintage pieces in good condition at a great price is much more fun to me than walking into a shop and buying the newest thing out.
My dad has been telling me my whole life "Baby, you don't get or stay rich by spending money you don't have to." So *hotdups* are my go-to.
I 100% agree! The thrill of the hunt! ❤
Everybody is just broke. Let be honest. Broke is subjective.
Very true
I’m a bit bored of luxury at the moment also. I’m not bored of my collection 😂 but I am bored of luxury content and shopping. ❤❤
Wow! Wonderful video. Thank you for sharing your secret! I have learned a lot from your channel and I love your engaging presentations. You are a great UA-cam host. Thanks *hotdups*
I think most people finally have their priorities straight. I'm subscribed to a handful of "designer luxury channels", and when I receive a notification of a new video and see that's it's an unboxing, I must admit, I don't even watch the video. And If I do click onto the video, I click 2/3rd of the way, look at the item that's unboxed and click off. I don't even watch the entire video
We are not bored so much as angry at luxury brands for ALL of their shenanigans💜🐦⬛
Do we constantly need new bags/things to be excited about luxury? I suggest we take full pleasure in what we already own - style it, use it and enjoy it. For me, real luxury should be things of good quality that I cherish for a long time. It’s one of the things that should differentiate luxury from fast fashion. Maybe «fast luxury» is dead and we’re on the way back to a slower and truer form of luxury? I hope so.
It's okay to have seasons where you're more into acquiring and others when you are more into using. It's a long term relationship, it's not always going to be white hot.
Luxury is not dead, it is just on hold until the demand comes back. The economy globally is not great, the designers are all copying each other, and the prices are just stupid. The luxury companies did this to themselves, took advantage of buyers with HUGE prices, finally the economy went bad and buyers ran from luxury and went to Coach.
Yup. Just bought 2 bags from coach.
I started buying vintage Coach pieces. At least I know the quality is there. My recent purchases have been vintage Coach, Chloe, and Celine. I guess I have a thing for C designers
Coach is my favorite, they’re affordable luxury. They have a lot of similar styles in their outlet and good quality in the boutique, their outlet stuff is still nice quality for the price. My everyday small purse is a coach. Anyway, usually I look at coach for something similar to the expensive brands before buying something expensive.
Totally agree with you. It feels like they are hastily releasing many ‘new’ bags instead of taking time to really design a bag with a look/style in mind.
Don’t know why women’s handbags from LV are not as fun and colorful as the men’s collection. We always get baby blue and girly pink. Some of us girls like color ❤
Agree - I have bought several small crossbody bags with color from the men’s side.
Low quality, high prices, treatment of customers and no creativity make me think luxury handbag sales will drop. Heck, even Chanel’s creative Director has had it. Better places to put our money like travel and buying food for that matter! The economic downturn over the last three years is brutal.
Nothing is exciting enough for me anymore…if you have already built a collection then you don’t crave anything anymore!
It’s exactly how I feel now! Even if they come up with bags I like, looking at my own collection, I don’t want to add more.
I feel exactly that way I’ve built up my collection to their things. I’ve only worn once so I’m just gonna be shopping my own closet from now on do not need one more bag or one more pair of shoes when I don’t even wear everything now
If there’s nothing interesting out there, if everything is boring, u don’t have to look for something that u must buy. Just take a break. I’ve been there, tine to take a break
It seems to me that all the people who are becoming "bored" or "fatigued" with luxury are people who already have huge collections of luxury items. I'm still interested in (and buying) luxury because there are so many bags that I don't have yet and that I want. I don't really follow the latest collections and releases other than watching luxury youtubers talking about them, and the bags I want aren't necessarily the newest styles or colourways. So no, I'm not bored with luxury at all.
This is a very good point, i accept i've already bought a lot, things that i was very excited to buy at the time
Hi Amelia! Rather than bored, I think I am becoming outpriced 😅 There are still some things I would have loved to save up for. But not for today’s price… Now regarding the numerous collections, it feels like expensive fast fashion… not luxury! x
this is true, there are some of the prices that just turn me off
If a new bag is going to come into my home and take up precious space, it has to be special and I have to absolutely love it especially if I'm going to be spending around $10K on it.
The high prices has turned many off
this is so true
I am not at all bored with what I have. I just haven’t seen anything new that tempts or excites me.
This is me exactly
I think having a crazy amount of collections has stifled creativity a little. If they only had 2 or 4 seasons a year, then things would be considered more. Can’t wait to see what you come home with in NYC
Can I just say how utterly fabulous you look? Really great 💪🏿
I’m bored and I’m finding a new love for my existing collection and vintage pieces. But if Fendi starts dropping their prices then I’m jumping on it 🤣🤣🤣
Nothing new is grabbing me but I’m enjoying looking for what I missed out on ❤
Can relate - and I’m glad the latest collections aren’t appealing otherwise I’d be in trouble!
Lol same! You definitely would be in trouble!
I am. I’m now in search of creative up & coming designers who are producing great leather goods, accessories & clothes that are less common and literally worn to death by everyone &, whose prices will not lead one into debt & to the poor house.
Nope you are not nuts. It is a little meh at the min. I’ve been waiting for a mini baguette in a colour to grab me for ages now. All seems very drab. I do love the speedy p9 and would love a 30 size but don’t like the pastel shades so they are a no from me. It’s all good for our bank balance. It will soon turn around and then there will be soooo many we want! X
And also,Just not always the collections . The staple design, Colors still be people buying. Like me liking having stocks of CHANEL Matlasse 30cm bags😊
Make sure you visit the Fashionphile showroom when you come to NYC. You’re gonna love it.
Will do!! i'm so excited for it!
Last luxe purchase was Nov ‘23 for me too. My lifestyle is such that I don’t have enough places to go to take the bags I already own and love so I cannot justify buying more luxury bags simply because I like them, if I’m not really getting use from ones I already have. I think many people are the same. This year I’ve had several city breaks with evening events and a week in the sun but I only took 2 bags each time and even repeated those on one stay because they work the best. My most used bags so far this year have been Longchamp and Uniqlo due to my more relaxed clothing style. 🤷🏻♀️
i'm really trying to focus on rotating and using my bags this year
I think luxury buyers are getting smarter on which luxury items to purchase. So, not necessarily bored with luxury but better clients. For me, I rely on your opinion when deciding which bag to buy so thank you for shopping for me....hahahaha! Love your channel!
Thank you!
We made a cult of buying bags ha ha. A bag or two for every occasion is more than enough. More than that is just a Play. Life always has ups and downs. Lets enjoy the flow...
It's not just you, babe. I think I noticed I was... not exactly bored, but unimpressed by luxury during the recent SS collections, which were muted and kind of dull. We all know the standout collection that perked me up! 😉 I can't wait for Fashionphile and rummaging for standout gems! 💕
I feel that I agree with you. I believe my last luxury purchase from a boutique was my LV discovery bumbag from the men’s Virgil Abloh collection. Since then I have been buying many vintage and pre loved bags that I missed out on. My last just a few days ago is a Mona Lisa pochette from The Masters collection by Jeff Koons. I have been searching for that bag for years as it is my absolute favorite painting and after I finally found one in the condition that I wanted my heart began to sing although that collection received much controversy, I know what I love and want. And as you stated, I have not had that from any collections in a while. Searching for and finding true luxury gems has been very fulfilling and exciting for me the last couple of years. So enjoy New York looking for those gems, it is the perfect place for treasure hunting. ❤
Thank you!
i think we are over-saturated with things that nothing catches our eye. oh, and we are also broke or more careful how we spend our money. because let's be real, these bag prices are getting way out of hand.
agree with everything you said
Designer goods are no longer luxury . They are just designer
And no longer attractive . Time to move on and save
Oh interesting!
Take a WIIIIDE view. As with everything, everything ebbs and wains. 'Luxury' must diminish, be replaced, then reemerge as retro. Regardless of the topic, yer as cute as can be and I will keep watching whatever you want to talk about.
I’ve been bored with the new releases too. I’ve used your phrase “It’s living rent free in my brain” since you first said it and it really works. Most of the bags that lived rent free I’m over them. I’m so glad I paused and reflected. I have been looking on the preloved sites for the bags that got away. They are all living rent free because the prices are still too high. I do feel sad that the excitement for luxury has diminished for me but on the other hand I’ve been enjoying the bags I have.
For me there is nothing being offered any more than excites me especially given the price points. I also think that the number of releases is a problem. The amount of stuff now is so overwhelming that things easily got out of it. The prices are also likely contributing. It’s easier to covet a 2-3k bag versus a 10-15k bag. The flight mode collection was one I was super interested in, but nothing was available. But, I would argue some of that was because it was cool and unique and the price points were more accessible.
Can’t wait to see what you go back with from your New York trip!! 🤗
Me too!!
I love to learn about the luxury brands and looking at their products, but I’m mostly buying from more affordable brands like DeMellier. I really enjoy the thrill of the search for the “perfect” preloved vintage items.
I’ve been bored lately as well. Maybe it’s because I really do have enough bags. But I do miss Karl Lagerfield’s Chanel. I miss that excitement of a new collection. And LV really doesn’t have anything I want that badly either. Also, I thought many of the new Dior bags seem cheap looking even before the scandal came out. I love the idea of the small book totes with the handles but they didn’t look great when I saw them in person 😢.
I completely understand this!
I am just at my max for what I'm willing to spend on handbags, and I have plenty luxury and contemporary that I've been making more of an effort to actually use and appreciate. I also had a quick move to jewelry and purchased 3 Cartier rings. There is nothing else major on my radar. Only handbag I am currently interested in is the Coach Lana.
i think a lot of people feel like this x
i feel like every person has that 1-2 brands that they just vibe with. For me it's fendi and i can find a couple things in each new fendi collection that i'd want to buy. Same for gucci shoes.
for ysl and gucci. Ysl overvalued their leather goods. Gucci lost the creative designer that was doing the maximalism that a certain luxury customer wanted. i suspect that customer will move onto valentino. Also gucci really raised their prices.
Hi Amelia! I really enjoyed your video and completely resonate with your feelings of luxury fatigue. The recent collections haven't been particularly exciting for me either. The current luxury market does feel a bit monotonous, lacking those standout designs. I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip to New York and exploring the pre-loved stores. I’ve found that discovering unique pieces in the second-hand market can reignite my passion for luxury items. Thanks for your honest insights, and I can't wait for more great content from you!
thank you!
For me the constant price increases are a serious turn off. Is the quality or design better? We are in tough economic times & it’s tone deaf imo. I have a small collection of a dozen LV bags and have put a pause on purchasing “luxury”. Is it truly still “luxury”? The quality, the experience… hmmm not quite sure anymore. 🤔 I am actually just enjoying what I have & kinda feeling vintage right now.
I agree with u so much and while being here - can't say how I love your leather Speedy❤
thank you!
I’m in nyc!!!!! I cantttt wait!!!!!! I’m a huge fan. I don’t comment often
awh thank you!
Your babies sound so adorable!!!!
Thank you!! 😊
Not just you, I’m bored too and hunting down pre loved I couldn’t get or afford.
I'm loving the pre loved hunt again
Love your speedy!❤😍❤
Thank you! 😊
yes it true even coach it the same thing and love fight mode
I just paid cash for another car ,but there aren't too many bags out right now that I'm obsessing over. If I find one I can't stop thinking about, I'll buy it I love your Gucci Bloom bag 🩷
And that is a decent price bag
@@ameliarosescloset the Bloom?
My situation is different, when it 'looks like' people got tired of Chanel, I just started liking the flap😅. I wished I had bought them when we were living in Europe 4yrs ago when the Flap was around 6k. I would love the beautiful pastels in blue, pink, purple..😪. I think you'll get bored when you owned a lot or you're just really not liking what's out there now, but for us who doesn't have certain lux bags yet, we still wanted it and it's still exciting to me. Still not an Hermes fan. I only go after what my heart wants and Chanel flap medium in pastel or Tiffany Blue, pastel yellow or purple are tugging my heart right now😂.
this is so true, it is less exciting than it was at the start
the LV Speedy P9s are on a roll
They really are
I have decided last year that I was going to do a low buy year. I have sold a few bags and bought my first bag this year in Q2 granted I bought 3 bags this year but 2 of them I was on the hunt for for years and one was a nice surprise and fell in love with. I think I am done for the year and I am not chasing anymore. I am also super disappointed with the RTW prices of Chanel. So currently enjoying what I have I also just had a baby raising 4 kids is expensive 😂
my goodness i find 2 expensive let alone 4!!
@@ameliarosescloset agree I think 2020 made me crazy I used to be 1 max 2 a year and I really want to go back to that!
I’ll be in NYC in August as well! Would you share some pre-loved shops you have on your radar to visit?
Definitely fashionphile and what goes around comes around
You have some very cool handbags. It's definitely not boring. I think people are not bored they just have all they need right now. I'm collecting hats now 😊
I finished my bag collecting, boot collection, and watch collection and perfume collection. Sometimes, people who collect just get bored with collecting the same thing 😅
That's a really good point
@ameliarosescloset sorry about the typos. I fixed it, but maybe do a weekly series on the bags you used this week?. Yesterday, I wore coach mini tote to the horse races, but today I wore a white bottega cassette bag. Share how you use your bags.
@@Divinenubian oh that's a good idea! 👍
@ameliarosescloset look forward to seeing your picks. Today, back at the races prada nylon bucket bag cargo pants, graphic t-shirt, and baseball hat with my rose gold citizen watch and gucci bloom fragrance, whatever i wiin goes in my bankroll handbag fund 😀
Right now, I have to shop more in hardware stores because I just moved. Lol...does LV make picture hooks? Well, I can buy Ralph Lauren paint. 😅
Love this!
Brands have become complacent, I'd say. They are taking fewer risks when it comes to designs.
good point
Mostly on my wish lists are from hermes and vintage chanel.
good wishlist!
I think there’s too many collections released now, just do 2 or 4 a year, LV is crazy at the minute with their releases & I’ve found a lot of it very boring!!!
So true!
Yes and no. I still love luxury in that I love beautiful leather and well made bags but I’m losing my enthusiasm for the big brands. The recent Dior scandal has soured my view of the brand.
I’m waiting on a handmade bag from a small company (Atelier Peter Nitz) that is going to be stunning.
But my dream of owning a Birkin is declining as I think I might feel uncomfortable carrying it as it’s so well known and I’d worry about being mugged but also judged by people who know what it costs.
So the idea of really under the radar luxury from small companies appeals to me.
This is interesting
I don’t usually produce luxury videos, but recorded some content in response to the recent concerns on luxury - and aligned with some of your thoughts on it. Would love your reflections when I post it!
Thanks for letting me know!
Anyone else feel like a lot of the bags across luxury brands look the same? Someone does a book/onthego tote, everyone else does a book/onthego tote. Someone does a mini bag, everyone does a mini bag. Idk, maybe it’s just me
There is a lot of repetition
I am bored. There is nothing I want. From any of the houses.
saving us a fortune!
Sell sell sell, offload these pricy name brands and find quality mid luxury up-and-coming companies to support.
Oh interesting!
I just feel the Pharrell collection looks like a circus 🎪
lol!
Maybe they are releasing more and not better
True
People at a uproar because of the DIOR
very true
Have you bought that giant sequins ugly Chanel bag?
lol nope!
On a more important issue is the UK election. Vote Reform UK to save your country.
The election is important
The economy is trash.
so true
The easiest way for me to become uninterested in most bags is to book a holiday 😂 Nothing like watching money depart ones bank account to airlines, AirBnB and car hire companies to dampen the enthusiasm for bags. I may not have bought many bags lately but I will be skiing in New Zealand in a fortnight! ⛷️
I love this!!
You look fabulous,As always😚🫶🏻!
And I ain't bored of Luxury. Because I love the fabrics,Makes me keep myself saving money. Rather than buying PU leather,Poor quality fast brands,That I have to constantly buy.
And I get my Luxury brands,From the " Parallel Import " buyers of Luxury brands. let me buy thifted and affordable prices😊
