    Why is that tool required? Can’t you just drive the plug piece down with any punch? It will only go so far due to the size of the hole only allowing the anchor to expand so much?

      The load transfer relies on the extent to which the inner cone is pushed (displacement), causing the sleeve of the drop-in anchor to expand. To achieve proper load transfer from the anchor to the concrete, the expansion must be as the manufacturer/supplier recommends. The installation tool is designed to ensure that the displacement/expansion is sufficient to secure the anchor within the concrete. Excessive displacement or expansion can damage either the anchor or the concrete, while insufficient displacement can lead to premature slip of the anchor. Therefore, the correct installation tool is essential for controlling the appropriate amount of displacement and expansion.
