  • This is the final video on the Taurus Tracker 44 Magnum with a 2.5" barrel. The gun is fun too shoot if you like recoil. I tested 4 different rounds.
#1 - Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 44 Special, 200 Grain SJHP Rated at 900 FPS
#2 - Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 44 Magnum, 240 Grain JHP Rated at 1330 FPS
#3 - Hornady Custom 44 Magnum, 200 Grain XTP Rated at 1500 FPS
    #4 - Underwood 44 Magnum, 200 Grain JHP Rated at 1650 FPS
I have not experienced any additional cylinder lockups sense the initial video. The firearm continues to perform well. I do believe it functions better as a 44 Special SEE Video for more information.

Great series on this revolver, and how the rounds ran through the short barrel.

Great series sir. Gonna have to get me a Taurus 2.5 tracker for woods protection. Probably load her up with buffalo bores "low recoil" 44. Mag

Thanks for watching. Yes buffalo bore makes some nice ammo. People usually think of them as +P but they have a nice line of standard pressure ammo

Very nice! Decent power from the .44 Mags... Although admittedly the Taurus revolver cylinders do tend to loosen up after a bit (I've noticed this too).

Thanks for watching. Glad to hear I am not the only one that recognizes that. In your experience, is the loosing up ongoing or does it tend to just be a break in?

@@BigBoreGuns I think it's just a break-in... I have just over 1400 rounds through my .357 Mag Tracker - and it hasn't loosened up anymore. I've only about 450 rounds through my 2.5" .44 Mag snub nose Tracker though (more expensive to shoot) - but I've noticed the same thing... No more loosening up; it's just a break-in period. I've shot at least a few cylinder's worth of 305 grain HSM bear loads through it as well - just to test them out; no ill effects to it. But yeah, I think it's primarily a .44 Special - due to it's lightweight construction, and only a part-time .44 Mag revolver. It's decent for the money though. So I see it as a .44 Special for range practice, and a .44 Magnum for when you venture out into the woods... It's a budget brand - so obviously not as tight as a S&W or a Ruger - but still good for what you're paying for. It's concealability is a high point for it, I think.
