As a black woman who just cut her hair off and was wondering how black men even get waves, this was super helpful. I been natural for 10 years so I’m not new to learning new stuff about my hair and how to care for it, but this wave culture is mind blowing. As another natural black woman, I recently wore my hair in Locs so switching over to short hair waves was definitely a transition but I know if I remain a consistent brusher the transformation will be amazing as it should be, he did a good job for him to be a UA-cam rookie.

Real wavers appreciate ya journey. I been waving for 4 yrs and never was impressed nor got any compliments. I decided to lose patients and break the bank. I spent $463 on brush king(27 brushes total)😡😒🙅🤦.
$38 on different durags. $62 on organic oils and butters. Broke the bank and that motivated me enough to brush but not to sure when I'll be elite. I definitely see the difference with my pattern and hair health. I get about 4-5 compliments a day.

I’m African with course hair and I just cut my hair 4 day ago and my hair won’t lay down it curling up and I tried plastics bag wash and style everything what should I do
Medium firm brush. It’s still getting trained so it won’t lay down yet. But keep brushing and by next cut it should be trained enough to at least lay down. Keep goin bro!

What oils or alternatives do u use instead of palmade? Also when should I take my Durag off to brush?
Raw Shea butter if you really need the hold. Grapeseed, jojoba, argon, sweet almond, and avocado oils are all the oils I use. And and just whenever you wanna brush.

I been blind brushing for a LONG time since I've got my waves and they beehive 360 but I just recently (within the last 2 months) started isolating my crown using he mirror. Its a struggle because I'm not used to using 2 mirrors. However since I've been using a mirror my crown looks alot more circular than OVAL like it was before...LOL.
I'm coarse hair and my hair seems to prefer blind brushing. I get faster results that way then using a mirror.

Silk or velvet durags for coarse hair

Yep done with more muscle than product, you can see the wave pattern. Not the line formation but the wave pattern is not just up and down. It's up, swirl over then, down look closely. That's how we did it 35yrs ago and you can tell who put in worked and who used a lot of product.
I have been brushing for like a couple of months now and I wasnt seeing results until I got a durag and started brushing while my hair is wet and saw some progress now the problem starts when I try to brush my hair while dry I lose the waves now my question is when do I brush and when do I apply pomade
I struggle with the brushes too, but I cut my hair and starting from the beginning again but this time I will be looking to follow these tutorials from scratch coz I couldnt get waves on the sides, wanted 180° waves not 360 coz I struggled on the sides and some of the products you use are American and I'm based in south africa so it's kind of a mission to get pomade and all those other products that you guys have, so I'm gona stick to shower brushing for now

To keep it all the way 💯 with you fam you never really supposed to brush your hair while it’s dry you should moisturize your hair at least and that’s something you shouldn’t have to do everyday if you moisturize and seal it in properly your hair should never really be look or feel dry and make sure your drinking a lot of water cause moisture starts from within

oils really. and what i meant by that was more natural products than anything. Grease would def break me out so I, personally don't use it

If I’m just starting out, how many times a week should I use pomade
2 to 3 times a week
So I'd used it on Monday use it the following Wednesday or Thursday but it mainly depends on how dry your hair gets also I suggest olive oil (the one for hair and the one u use in food and I'm serious when I say that) so the grease in your hair builds up and clogs your pores, you'll hair will be healthier
On the days your not using a product wet a towel but make sure it's not dripping wet just damped and place it on your head for 5 minutes then get the brushing and rag up

I used to put shea butter leave in conditioner in my hair every night but I stopped. I need help on what type of oil I need and how often to use it. I also have dandruff so I need help with fighting that off too.
TaeCrossEmUp so I really love grapeseed, jojoba, and sweet almond oil. I apply about a dime size daily. A little tea tree oil will kill dandruff also. Stay moisturized and the dandruff will be gone.
Yea it doesn’t matter if you have waves or not, You need to use a moisturizer AND oils to seal the moisture in to keep your hair healthy especially if you have 4c hair which is what coarse hair wavers have. Keeping your hair moisturized is extremely important for our hair texture
Your hair is gonna be extremely dry if you only use oils
