as a dex faith hybrid i can say you shouldn't lump faith in with int most of our spells are mid range or buffs and if they are long range you gotta charge them to get use out of them
I'm mostly faith strength and dex and I just deleted the fire giant for the second time with ancient dragons lightning strikes and was doing like 10 k per cast
I actaully built as fun int strength build where I get spells, cold katanas/moonveil, darkmoon great sword and a great bow with magic arrows that knocks people off cliffs
hey. it me again. Elden Ring veteran. here with answers to your roadblocks and conflicts. 1. Commander Niall. he a bich. There is an item that can be purchased from a merchant near the Bellum Church in Liurnia, called the Bewitching Branch. Use this on his summons to turn them AGAINST him, takes about two seconds to use, so make sure you time it well. When you reach the second phase, dodge his lightning stomps by rolling AWAY. This will ensure he does his thrust attack to try to catch you, which can be easily parried. Rinse and repeat until bich is dead. 2. Putrid Avatars. Grab the whetblade from Radahn's castle that allows fire infusions and infuse your greataxe with fire (the Avatars have negative fire resistance). Dodge behind the Putrid Avatars when they slam themselves onto the ground, to avoid any rot. Avoid using heavy attacks unless the Avatar ass slams, or finishes a small combo. For the Putrid Avatars in the endgame, make sure you have a gold foot ready to use, because these big trees pay WELL. Now you know, now go kick their asses :D
Oh, Commander Niall. Yeah. You could parry+riposte his two Banished Knights, though I like Bewitching Branches for them. For Niall himself, I like waiting for his leaping lightning leg attack. You roll that and then his followup is easy to parry since it has consistent timing. His AoE can be annoying, but he's easy to stance break when he's down after doing it. Oh and yeah, Niall is the one I believe served Godwyn. You find an item there that basically says Miquella was looking for a way to revive him, and Niall is guarding the other half of the Medallion to Miquella's Haligtree, to assist Miquella. Niall also has a lot of Banished Knights whom he reclaimed, and is missing a leg. Godrick has Banished Knights too, and a Godwyn face in his basement (as well as thorns tearing the castle apart, caused by Godwyn's influence). I believe those Banished Knights were Niall's, and so to get them back, he gave up his leg to Godrick, which Godrick would want because of his fetish for grafting.
Man, 40 episodes. My playlist so far is 244 episodes, and it covers Limgrave, Caelid, Liurnia, and most of Altus lol. Granted, boss fights are each their own video, and sometimes I'll have a video just to show a hidden room or item, or a short encounter or line of dialogue that's overall maybe 1-3 minutes long. Definitely though worth taking your time and exploring. Lots of cool stuff, and you can farm enough runes to have the stats to use any weapon you want. Does come at the cost of many Albanaurics' lives in the Mohgwyn Palace area lol.
For magic, it depends on the situation. A lot of bosses will do periods of slow walking. Margit and Morgott will do this. You can kinda cheese them with ranged magic as long as you're at a distance where they don't rush or attack. Fire Giant as well. Very easy with magic. Depends on the spells though. There's a lightning incantation that just melts large bosses. Melee doesn't even compare. It strikes multiple times around you, spreading out, so if you cast it under a boss, it hits so many times. Comet Azur can kill a boss before it does anything. Rennala's Full Moon / Ranni's Dark Moon is a homing nuke that does a lot of damage and lowers enemy magic resistance. And don't get me started on the dragon breath incantations. When Eleonora used it on you, it's the same if you use it. Greyoll's Roar oneshots most enemies around you, lowing their offense and defense if they survive. The breath attacks do massive damage, either fire/magic damage, causing frostbite, or powerful Scarlet Rot. Lots of area/distance covered by them too. When I fought the boss in Deeproot Depths, I parried and riposted the first one. I then did a lightning strike incantation to kill the second, and then I finished off the following 3 blokes with a combo of Flame of the Fell God and Frozen Lightning Spear. If you have decent Dex, most cast times are pretty quick. I usually melee stuff, but I have spells and incantations on my character too. So many instances where they just make things really easy. Frozen Lightning Spear / Flame of the Fell God / Lanseax's Lightning Glaive / Agheel's Flame / Ekzyke's Decay / Greyoll's Roar / Rennala's Full Moon / Ranni's Dark Moon are great for groups of enemies because of the AoE, and they either have range or decent speed. Stars of Ruin can demolish a single target, and is a great assassination spell to kill a target without drawing aggro from the other dudes. It will alert enemies, but it makes them inspect the body you just killed, grouping them up so you can nuke them all with Ranni's Dark Moon. The almost-guaranteed frostbite it causes just adds even extra damage.
as someone with over 700 hours in this damn game, please use the dark moon greatsword. it has crazy damage even without much building around it. the int scaling is actually incredible and i would say without a doubt that it is my very favorite weapon in the game. i will say though, before you fight anything with it use the weapon skill. love your content man, keep up the good work
btw even though youre using an int weapon you dont have to use spells, i also think theyre really boring but trust me, the dark moon greatsword is the GOAT

Bro, using magic doesn't mean you have to stay far from the boss. I use ranged spells within swinging distance of bosses. Some of the most fun I've had in Souls games is weaving a boss's attacks just to fire a giant blue spear almost point-blank into their skull. The only time I use the range of a ranged spell is when the enemy or boss is running away from me. The hawks with blades in Stormveil castle and a certain final boss are perfect examples of that. Fighting bosses at a distance can be boring but not all magic users do that
pretty much the main reason why people want you on their team is because you are a Tarnished, a being revived by the Greater Will to mend the Elden Ring, you're not just unkillable, you grow stronger the more you fight and you do not care about morality or allegiances, you are an unstoppable and highly dangerous killing machine, most of the enemies and especially the shardbearers you encounter attack you because they are scared of you, they know you're after their great rune and that not even killing you will save them, for you it's a fight with nothing to loose but everything to gain, for them it's a fight for survival with nothing to gain and everything to loose, suffice to say allying yourself with a Tarnished is a powerful threat to all other factions but may also just as easily end with a sword at your own throat by the very Tarnished you thought you had wrapped around your finger also unlike the ds3 storm ruler you can just do normal attacks with the serpent hunter and it'll still do good damage to the boss, no fp needed, also unlike the storm ruler, the serpent hunter is still an actually good weapon outside the fight
Ouuu okay I appreciate the little lore lesson, that makes it even more crazy to me how some bosses talk smack after killing me like I’m dead knowing straight well I’m about to get back up
