I just spent 20 minutes in my room trying to learn acoustic guitar. As someone who plays piano this filled me with primal rage because THAT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER 😭
As a pianist I spent 3 years trying to learn classic guitar and gave up. Non-keyboard instruments have so many unnecessary roadblocks and it just hurt my hands and fingers :/ Also requires long nails and every other sound is a TZZOINN or a funny fart. The biggest bummer is a solo keyboard can make good music while a solo any other instrument is never enough by itself. So I could not enjoy my own performance while playing the guitar
@M P that's a given for any 2 different instrument. The opposite is also true and way more important : the piano is much more versatile since you can use it as a keyboard to make any sound you want, and both hands play equally with up to 10 fingers. As I mentioned in previous comment, most important aspect is that solo piano is way more rewarding to play than solo guitar
About 8 years ago I was working at Guitar Center/Atlanta and Stevie Wonder came in (with his manager) and demoed one. He was five feet in front of me playing that thing. I was awestruck!!
Had a wish-that-I-thought-of-it-first moment. Allows pianists to be more expressive and opens up chord voicings and note choices to guitarists - brilliant!
A hidden upside to owning a harpeji is if somebody breaks into your home you can just whack them over the head with your harpeji and it makes this neat sound.
Human creativity is incredible, not just in music but the design of this thing. Way to go mankind. Build more of these and less weapons, and the world will be a better place.
It’s really cool, but ultimately it’s just an experimental / gimmick instrument, there’s no sounds you’ll get from it you couldn’t get from a guitar or electric keyboard, and both are easier to play. (Not trying to say it isn’t cool, just that you don’t need one 😅)
These are amaaazing! As a guitar player who can play some keys - but always wanted to play more - and to integrate both in my sound...this thing is revolutionary. I was always wondering why we stopped innovating new instruments. The solid body electric guitar seens to be the last new instrument, in the 40's [Bigsby]. Now this. Now we just need someone to master it, and to start performing...blowing our minds...and a whole generation will follow suite

Huh? There’s no hidden meaning or joke. An accidental is a signal to play one half tone higher or lower like A sharp or A flat instead of A. So yea, the white keys on a piano are natural and the black keys are accidental. Where is the humor in that you see?

Any plans to make a budget/beginner/intro version? I really want one but have a hard time justifying shelling out a used Civic to try a new instrument out.
One thing worth noting is that the harpejji is a little more complicated than it appears. I mean, I looks like a plank with some fretwire, strings, tuners, and a pickup. But the electronics are a lot more advanced than what a guitar uses, a guitar just has a pickup, it picks up whatever it picks up, and that goes out to your amp. The harpejji has a noise dampening system inside of it to prevent the string noise which would absolutely ruin whatever you are playing with all of the sympathetic vibration and whatnot. And on top of that the harpejji is also just a proprietary instrument, there is one company that makes them, and they don't make thaaat many of them.

From where I'm sitting it seems hard to get people into harpejji if there's no step in between no harpejji and $3k+ though. It seems like there's a gap in the product line that might get people in the door who would be apprehensive to try out a brand new instrument with the price range of the current lineup. Maybe I'm just not the target audience.

I found when I learned Harp it was physically like playing classical guitar, but laid out like a piano. This looks pretty cool, like a really big Chapman Stick.
Here’s how I understand your description: the Harpeji is basically a reverse keytar. Instead of being a keyboard in guitar format, it’s a guitar in keyboard format.

the most difficult part I think is the frets (they need to be huge)
and maybe you need a noise gate pedal too, that way you can control the threshold
