    I've been playing for few years now and could perhaps describe myself as a intermediate player. And I've just recently discovered that my foot tapping is really bad. I never noticed it playing by myself but it became immediately a problem when playing with a band. Now I've started to do these beginner exercises to learn it the correct way, but damn is it hard and not so fun to do at this point. I do recommend following Justins advice ans really learn this as early as possible.

    I've been playing for a few years, but as soon as I start tapping my foot, my strumming hand completely breaks. Back to the basics! Really wish I learned this 10 years ago...

    Thank you-I taught my 5 year old your 1-2-3-4 counting practice and he still practices that on his own... he’s working on minimalist chords we found in a kids guitar book designed for 7 year olds, so mostly he strums with or without them. S’okay by me!

    Very very grateful for this. I rather see this as a lesson because it is so important. Really, not many break this down for us.

    I’m so glad I’ve been in band since sixth grade lol, I was able to count/strum eighth notes immediately because of it!

    Hey there justin, I dont know if you'll see this or reply but I'll ask anyway!
    I've been playing viola and violin already since 3 years and wanted to learn guitar and am at module 3 right now, this is my third week learning and I already know most of these things of strumming on the beat, how to tap your foot etc., do you recommend that I watch it anyway or just tick it as done and move on? Thanks for the great lessons by the way!!

    Does the video sound a little staticy around the 0:50 mark? It's not bad at all, but I'm trying to figure out if it's my speakers.

    Hi Justin, just wondering would you be able to help me with a problem I have? I feel like I have zero sense of rhythm at all. I can’t tap along to the beat of a song. I can’t bounce my head on a beat of a song I can’t do anything on beat I don’t even know what I’m meant to be looking for do you have any advice?

    Hi, may i ask what is the word that describe one strum per bar?

    • @justinguitar
      @justinguitar  9 місяців тому

      A chord or note that lasts for one full bar is a 'whole'.

    Is it fine to use a metronome to help me with this?

    • @jamesbrealg
      @jamesbrealg 2 роки тому +3

      I would say yes! It will get you used to the 4/4 rhythm, and when you get used to that you'll hear it in songs everywhere, which will then help you strumming these patterns. It's about training the ear to hear it, and converting that to your strum

    I wonder how Joe Strummer learnt how to strum. Even his name has strum in it.
