Well done. I use to have the same problems with cables. Then I got ASI air. Now just two cable running from my set-up. One to my EQ6-R and one to ASIAIR. This ended all my cable problems.
Hi Robert! Yes, I am going to use the ASI Air on a small mount that I have, I am still trying to figure out some settings of it. Now you got me "intrigued" as I didn't even think on using it on my big mount in the Skydome... thinking uhmmmm. Thanks for your comment!
Your skywatcher is shiny, what are those residue marks, tape removal? are planning APOs in future. In the beginning of video you have showed Celestron is it SCT.
your cable nest is much improved! I have multiple scopes that I swap frequently making it hard to do such a system. it requires that i keep an eye on my rig as i image [i image from home, driveway] but i have not had an issue [yet]. thanks for the vlog!
Thanks Astrodad! It is very difficult for sure. My mount is stationary so that helps a lot, but I keep thinking on how to make it better. I have been taking 2 mins exposures and now that I want to take longer exposures, I thought that part of the problem is that the Telescope was not well balanced, due to the cables. Cable management is pretty serious business. I've had a few snags over the years. Since you moves some things around, I would suggest that you also make sure you are still balanced after all that! Clear skies!
Oh that's right. I paid the price big time with another mount. I am still working on this one. It helps that my mount is stationary. I also repositioned the guide scope and it messed up PHd2 lol, that's for another video. Nice to see you Dennis
Thanks Suresh! this is why I can't sleep LOL. I guess my brain is getting a lot of exercise, ha! Cable management is so difficult for me, I think , "its a guys thing" but in the end , I got it working and no cable snags! How are you doing with your gear and photos?
@@yourfavoriteastronerd Hi Diana, That's true, cable management is guys thing but I am poor at it. Now rainy season in my city. It starts from May to December. Darks clouds and heavy to minimal rains almost whole day. So no chance of firing my gear. Just as usual work, watching videos like yours and participating in forums. Two months of winter and three months of summer is the chance for me to search my home planet because I am an alien, "A joke". Too much of light pollution in my city, usually I will camp out in my friends farm lands for my astronomical hobby.
I used Blue Lounge Cable Drop for Orion dew heater cables, power cable for ZWO ASI 183MC pro color camera cooling fan, and RJ-12 cable for Orion StarShoot AutoGuide camera on my two Orion refractor telescopes and Orion SkyView Pro mount with GoTo system. The Cable Drop works well and no tangle. And also, the Cable Drop have four different colors and two different sizes which are regular and mini.
Professional observatories have rats nests of cables. Drives the engineers nuts. A couple of the engineers e would go through at least once a year and organize them. You did a good job.
Ha! I love the "rats nests of cables" I call them spaghetti bowls LOL. Yes, it is very difficult , I had no idea they have so many problems with cables. I am still thinking on how to make it better without moving the refractor, it terrifies me to rewire and also do all the settings again. Nice to see you!
