Hey Hunters... nice setup 👌. Just my small tip for the woven wire-sock. I noticed you use wire straps, they work perfect but as you can see it allows for not so tidy fringing of the netting. (those will eventually end up hooking in wrist bands, rings, even usb ports etc. and you'll accidently jerk (maybe break) out the connector on the camera or other) Putting a small piece of shrink wrap over the ends in combi with straps or not, (I do without straps to keep it even cleaner) and shrinking it over the netting and a part of the exiting cable (pressing it tight over the cables and netting with your fingers while the shrink wrap is still hot) will make for a very tidy, safe and clean cable management. (just make sure the shrink wrap is big enough for the connectors to pass.) 👍
Would like to know more about your focuser. Also how much does your scope and equipment weigh? What kind of mount do you use for all of this equipment?
Excellent, this is very helpful.
Thank you Chuck
You know I did cable management when my scope first arrived, way back in the day. Now my cable management is just chucking the wires on the scope, you can’t even see the Scope itself LOL
Haha you need shorter cables!
Great Video!! So You Gave Away Your Newtonian Telescope, Now Planetary Season is Coming Back Soon On June. which Telescope Will You Be Using For planetary.🔭🪐
Thanks! Will try planetary with the SVX130 and see how that goes, if not, no idea!
It’s possible that your nuc is capable of running on 12v. I run my nuc5ppyh on 12v and it works perfectly. You might have already looked this up. If you search for your nuc on the intel website it tells you the dc voltage supported.
Great video as always, would you care to detail the Nuc and its functions with in the rig? i have one as well but no connected to my telescope
Thanks, the Nuc just runs Windows 10 and on it I downloaded everything I need to image (SGP, PHD2, plate solving catalogs, Polemaster app...). When I set up the scope, I just connect to the nuc wirelessly using either my phone or my laptop and start imaging!
I am curious about your choice for guiding. The setup looks like off axis would be the way to go. The setup is amazing overall. What you have there is my dream setup.
Yes, I wish we used an OAG but the only one we have is for our cropped sensor cameras and so we have to buy a larger one since we're now shooting full-frame, it's just expensive so we're waiting a bit, it's probably next on our list
do you have to register it just to fly it how do you know when it is too high, to fly it??
does it beep?
What model of NUC did you go with??
Yes sir this setup is what dreams are made of but you are leaving us average Joes behind which means in my opinion you have to create an even balance of content in which beginners, intermediate and advanced astrophotographers can relate to moving forward.
I am also curious as to how much if any flexure are you seeing?
We also have a "beginner rig" which we use often in videos as well (atlas EQ-G and Meade 70mm) so we try to not leave others behind. No flexure at all at the moment.
Awesome setup 👦🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
Some great ideas here, thanks! I've just ordered an Esprit 100 and EQ6-R (I'm moving up from Redcat51 and Star Adventurer Pro) so I'm already looking for tips to manage cables, mount guidescope and my ASIAir Pro. I think you have all bases covered here, thanks very much!
Awesome setup and refractor. I have a C8 sct and a spacecat. I want to get a 8” edge for sure and am looking at the skywatcher esprit , the tel vue and the Stellarvue all 100mm . Will sell the ones I have now after I replace them . I was wondering is the Stellarvue that much better than the skywatcher like 1000$ more after you buy the needed field flattener. Thanks another good video.
Love the vids! Do u guys ever do live streams?
Thanks! We sometimes do live stream but not often, we'll try to do more this year
I just re-ran a bunch of cables after hearing that running power right next to data cables can cause data and connectivity issues. Opinion?
Great stuff. Really need to get on cable management before I wrap up my first year lol. Thx for ideas!
😎Beautiful management! Love the the nitecrawler!
Nice one! I enjoyed seeing your cable management strategies, mine are quite similar!
Awesome! Those sleeves are great!
Another great video, the cable sleeves are always good to use. If you hit the ends with a lighter the fraying cleans up
Until now do you think this telescope is better than the one you gave away?
It's hard to say, they're both different, the other one is faster for sure and the diffraction spikes are awesome, it also was perfect for Lunar/planetary. This one is a bit slower but seems sharper and the included nitecrawler is incredible. Haven't tried it yet on planetary and lunar though 🤔
@@GalacticHunter can't wait for you to try it for planetary
when you are out in the field, do you power all of that with just the one Jackery? I have to shoot literally out in a field and havent quite figured out a way to power everything I have yet. Maybe Ill add another deep cycle jump box soon
The Explorer 500 we have usually dies around 3/4AM (mostly because of the Nuc I guess), but we're thinking of exchanging it for the 1000 version which likely will last all night
dew heater?
We never had to use a dew heater as we live in the desert and it's always dry
@@GalacticHunter That's one hassle less to worry about for you guys. Nice.
A nicely organized rig! I like the mini computer as the main brain. Besides well place straps, I have found a strong rubber band around the camera and cables helps keep the plugs from working out of the sockets, and reduces wear and tear on the connectors from the wriggling back and forth.
Good tip! Thanks!
12v was the reason I got a NUC8i3BEK which can handle 12v out of the box. You only need an 2.1mm to 2.5mm adapter to use the PPB supplied dc wires. Nice Vid!
Now I wish I got that haha
@@GalacticHunter Haha yea this works too;)
What about the connection to the mount?
Oh yes, it's just a usb cable that goes straight from mount to Nuc
I like the the sleeves you showed that to us in the zoom meeting if I recall , do they come in red ?
Nice vied!!!
Haha yes they have some red ones here: amzn.to/32e4KIR
I run my rig the same way- I have a NUC (FYI- They run fine on 12v) and I use a Pegasus UPBv2. Wireless is nice... :-) Make sure you have a 'crash cart' setup with you- I got bit a few times when my wireless didn't connect and I couldn't get on my windows console. A cheap USB powered hdmi monitor and all in one keyboard mouse will save your bacon!
Wait, you can connect the Nuc (19V) directly to the Pegasus box without anything exploding? 😱 Also for the connection errors, you are completely right!! Sometimes at random it will just refuse to connect and it drives me nuts, usually when I restart the Nuc it will work again but I'm always terrified to not be able to connect to it on the field... Also I just bought the UPBv2 as well, the other box couldn't handle it all at the same time and was blinking, so hopefully this one will have no issues.
@@GalacticHunter Yes- I run my NUC (19v) on a 12v port on my Pegasus UPBv2 just fine.
Great cable management!
Thanks Ray!
Congratulations on the Stellarvue 130. I have the 120. Fantastic scopes. Sharpest refractors out there!
That's such an awesome scope! I always wonder if it is better than a fast newt, but it definitely is crisp!
Slight typo. I have the 102. 714mm. Great compromise between wide field and close up.
Great job bro
beauty
Yo, very usefull video man!
Thanks!
