Lord Zedd, one of the most powerful Power Rangers villains of all time. The history of this villain goes back thousands of years when he was Zophram, the ancient guardian of Eltar and the mentor of Zartus and Zordon. He proclaimed himself emperor of evil and enslaved Goldar and Rita for his purposes of conquest in the universe.
Power Rangers is an American television series and franchise of the tokusatsu genre, version of Super Sentai Series, a Japanese television series of the same genre. It has been broadcast since 1993. From 2002 to 2009, the franchise was owned by The Walt Disney Company, but was reacquired in 2010 by Haim Saban, its creator and original driving force between Mighty Morphin and Wild Force (the latter created early in production before the sale of Saban Entertainment to Disney). On May 1, 2018, it was confirmed that the franchise was bought by Hasbro.

Because Sentai started in the 1970s and mechas didn't start being popular in America in the 1980s. Although I do think american black cross fuher counterpart would be interesting.

This is incomplete, Zedd went to Grid Battleforce to free Scrozzle to then travel to Rafkon were he takes the sporix machine to make new ones, he was "defeated" by green mophin master but he will return in Cosmic Fury

he absorb all the Morphing Masters and threatened to unleash pure evil into all the multiverse, but Zayto (who was now a Morphing Master) convinced him to give up the power for survival
Zedd was turned back to normal, but he was now stuck in a nightmare, and his worst nightmare was being ordered around by Rita Repulsa, his wife, who still has him around her pinky
