  • I'm the author of The Great Dead Body Teachers, a book about whole body donation. I wrote the book because both of my grandparents donated their bodies to science, and I went on a quest to discover what happened to them in the anatomical labs all those years ago.
This interview is with Cat Irving, a human remains conservator at Surgeon's Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland. Cat does a lot of public speaking on medical history and has brilliant Instagram and Twitter accounts at @anatomicalcat, if you’re into anatomy, graveyards, skulls, and generally fascinating "deathie" content, like I am.
We discussed an array of topics, including all the feet in the collection, musket ball injuries and the complex ethics around displaying and looking after human remains.
I'll hopefully post more videos soon. You can check out my website at www.jackiendent.com or get my book on Amazon or at bookstores in the UK and Australia. Yay!
