It's always a bit emotional for me to see them perform live in Osaka. when they were first starting out, they were playing outside Osaka Jo Castle and their dream was to play in Osaka Jo-hall, and then Budokan. They have achieved their dreams, continuing to put out music they love and enjoy performing live together. I saw them in NYC in 2018 (Sony PlayStation theater) they really blew me and the crowd away. they were so loud and so good. I honestly think they are one of those bands you will enjoy MORE live. Rina on the drums surprised me with her power and precision. she's an under-rated drummer. IIRC she's been battling some issues that sometimes prevent her from playing the fills as she has recorded them in the studio, but she always manages to find a way to stay in the pocket, smile and enjoy drumming and sounds fantastic live. Haruna's voice is always on point, Mami and T-mo always solid on their instruments and vocals. under-rated band. So happy they are still together, performing live, touring and putting out new music. I cannot wait to see them again live. My only regret is not buying the VIP in 2018 as I could have had a photo taken together side by side with them, IDK if they will ever do that again thx to the pandemic, but I can dream. I miss the pre-pandemic meet and greets.
In concerts, I think that SCANDAL has about the best sound engineering in the business. There were several times that I wished whoever did their work would go help BAND-MAID. Especially pushing MISA's base command like you hear Tomomi do it. (Not anything against MISA, I just think that sometimes .. they "hide" MISA's fantastic skills on the bass. Not often, but more than they should) You can almost always feel Tomomi's bass as well as hear it..... plus she was such a neat and unique singing voice.
Their team is really meticulous about setting up the sound and adjusting it in rehearsal. Partly it depends on the venue set up though. There are times, especially at festivals, when the venue sets drums and bass too much in the background. (I haven't actually been at any of these festivals, just going by YT etc.) As for Band Maid, Akane's drums never seem to get lost in the mix eh
Damn, i missed this stream... and it's one of my favorite SCANDAL songs! Super cool and heavy guitar riff, a bit RATM at times, but always mixed with the unique flavor of SCANDAL's "happy rock" sound
