This is great! I love all the fancy stuff but sometimes it's nice to go back to basics and remember that you don't need all the fancy stuff to make an awesome journal!
JJ = no rules - that's what attracted me to the craft. I don't make anything to sell so what I make is for me. Trust me, not as "pretty" or girly but I enjoy the process. You are always an inspiration to use what I have. Thank you
I love how everyone has an opinion of how it "should" be. Ignore them. It can be whatever you want! The first word in junk journal is junk! You are keeping things from land fills and garbage dumps while creating something beautiful!
I LOVE where you said, "It's been so long since I've used ordinary junk." I guess what I've seen is you making extraordinary things with "extraordinary junk"!! The shiny thread IS embroidery floss. I've done projects where you use 2 strands of ordinary floss and one strand of metallic, or, if you want more shiny, use 2 strands of metallic and one of regular floss. It adds a shine to the project, and if not used too much, makes specific parts really stand out -- like a child's name on a baby sampler, for example. What a fun project!! Thanks!!
😅 it's my journal, so I do what I want. Mine is some junk, some things I make. Mine is an eclectic book of diary, journal, art, habit tracker, to-do list, appointments, and fun. I love your style! ❤
I gave my best friend 2 patterns of exactly the same apron, a coupon to pick out fabric (for me to pay for) AND a coupon for her to teach me how to use the sewing machine … we’ve been friends for 34 years so she thought it was funny … I am dead serious! TFS.
Looking at video’s haven’t looked at yet. I miss you. I make what I want the way I want it. Don’t care about rules when it comes to making my journals. It’s mine and it is what I like.
Thanks for this! It really is inspirational . I think we all need to realize or be reminded that we don’t need a lot of fancy stuff and it doesn’t have to be perfect, intimidating or exactly like yours . Just need to create and enjoy!
Oh my gosh Margreth your beautiful brain has come up with some amazing ideas, I wish I had been able to watch this 30 years ago before I started amassing a whole load of unnecessary stuff 🤣🤣❤ xxx
This was a great video for beginners but also for us. Reminders of what we can do with almost anything. I appreciate you taking your time with this. This one to be saved by all the newbies.😊😊❤❤
Wow! fabulous junk journal, made from junk…how perfect! I love all the ephemera. it’s all very cool ! What a great video, thank you ❤ I could hear Jackson snoring in the background…sleepy cat 😂😂😂
Margaret, love the beautiful junk journal. You do such an awesome job no matter what you use. Please make postage stamps. Would be wonderful. And let the haters hate. I don't understand why people have to go around smashing other people's fun. And you bring us a lot of fun so keep on keeping on. 💞💞💞
It's a beautiful journal. There are no rules for junk journals. You make it however you want to. Using whatever papers, napkins, fabrics, or lace, etc. That's how I use whatever suits the style of journal I'm making. Thank you for sharing Margreth. 🙂♥️
Great idea about the home-made hole reinforcers; I already knew about cutting the corners on a credit card to make my tag corners; and now I have one for you. Put petroleum jelly around the threads of your Mod-Podge or other glues. It works like a charm and you can always open any jar or bottle! Love this video, and appreciate you so much. My Fave!!
Excellent video for new and experienced creators. And a good reminder we don’t need to buy everything. I do enjoy noticing how being up on their high horses makes their bottoms look big 😂😂😂
Just amazing, I love going back to basics, so many idea and great way to use your imagination. We often get so caught up in purchasing or "having" all the products, we don't need any of them. Great way to remind us all. So much fun!!
Thanks Margreth! I've sent several newbies to both your videos on making a budget journal. So many ideas packed into them❤These are both super helpful to newbies and also a nice refresher for seasoned journalers.
Margreth making mixed media mess. 😲😅 Admit it, you had a bit of fun with this. At least with the really pretty results. Thank you for reminding many of us of how we started. 💜 I've had so much fun finding alternatives for the expensive stuff when I was making my first journal. Wonderful memory. 🥰
I hear the rain, love that sound! I live in the state of Nebraska in the USA! We are very dry and would certainly live sad one of that wet stuff. However Fall is not the season for it for us🥹
OOO I enjoyed this soooo much. Thank you for the ideas... please do more of this, it is really helpful for us beginners. Sending love from the UK xxxxx
My favourite lady 🙌🏻🙌🏻. Take no notice of stupid people, you can call it a junk journal if you want to, your the most amazing crafter on UA-cam I absolutely love watching your videos, have a lovely weekend 🤗 xxx
Miss Margreth, so amazing. I just can't believe all the stuff that you put together in this little journal that looks so big now. Absolutely love how it all came together. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰💖😻💖😻💖👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
I have a box of water based markers sitting right on my desk!!! I’ve been needing inks for distressing Now I have them!!! In every color! Thank you so much! I’m. So happy.
It turned out very nice. I enjoyed the process. I had just started a journal with junk mail, so this was perfect timing. I am doing great making ephemera but struggling to complete a journal. Thanks Margreth
Groetjes Maia
Dear Margreth, I’ve been such a fan that I didn’t realize I hadn’t subscribed until I watched this video and had to say how much I want you to do a faux stamp video!😃 Also, thank you for hearing me when I talk to the screen 😀😉😘
You are a genius! I love watching you! I always get so many wonderful ideas from you. I love your ideas. They are so useful to me and my budget lol. Wonderful ideas with things I already have at home. Thank you so much. Keep creating! I love it! So many things I can use
This video reminds me of when I first started making scrapbooks years ago. It’s so much fun making things from scratch. I really enjoyed watching it. I used to swipe a brush style pen along the edges using the side of the brush. And use the block to watercolour pictures. Enjoyed my Saturday breakfast watching you
Thank you so much for the alternatives!!! I love the look of distressing with oxides but don't feel like spending the money on a pad. Love the use of felttip pens, I HAVE THAT ❤️ very creative use of what you have and inspiring. What a lovely Junk Journal this IS!!!
Omg, the end result is beautiful! Exactly what I imagine a junk journal to be Margereth, lol I know it took some Will power not to go fancy 😂 but in all honesty I’m loving it & your energy whilst making it was something special to watch. Thank you. 🙏🥰📕
When did junk Journal get rules? Who's trying to take all the fun out of something that we love to do? That's just dumb , pardon me. I've been junk journaling for 10 years and I use whatever the heck I wanna use, that's the fun of it, just finding "stuff" and figuring out how to use it in your pages. Do whatever you want to! I love everything you do and I have binge watched over 150 of your videos in the last two or three months. Probably more like 200 lol. It's pretty much all I watch.❤❤❤❤❤
I have been without internet for over two weeks and this was the first video I’ve come across of yours so I’m sorry for my absence. I love that you have made this video you are so wonderful at explaining stuff that seems so difficult to make and shows us how easy it is to do, I love that you showed how to make the hole reinforcement rings and everything I’m so happy to be able to watch you again I’ve missed your videos so much I will go back to the first one I miss and catch up. Please do another video on postage stamps.❤
Those pliers are actually round nose pliers. Needle nose pliers are flat on the inside. And the claw was a lobster clasp. It amazes me how good your English is. And I love your videos.
You can also use colored chalk in the place of ink. Back when I first started paper crafting and there wasn't all the products available as there is now, I distressed paper by spritzing it with water, crumpling it and then ironing it to dry it and smooth out the wrinkles some. When it was dry I then used a brown chalk to complete the distressing.
I love this project. Thank you for showing how to use stuff you might just throw away to make this lovely junk journal. I am only sorry it took me soloing to watch the video. I have a new puppy who kept interrupting. It was so worth the time to watch though. Such wonderful ideas. The video is packed with great ideas. You are the best.
Well, someones new treasure can very well be my junk 😅 so in the junk journal it goes 😂 And if you havent fallen of the high horse at least once, you have never ridden in the first place 😅 Greetings from Denmark ❤
For the circle page edges, it would be really cool to put the glue only on the middle of the circle then you have a bunch of tuck spots! You could tuck a lot of little things or use it to hold larger cards too!
You should be a teacher for crafting you explained everything beautifully. I learned a few things also, thank you for sharing, big hugs to Daisy and Jackson.🤗😘🤗😘
🤔 I thought a junk journal was made from junk...waste paper, re-cycled things. Isn't that exactly what you have done...wonderfully?! You may have just saved a lot of people a lot of money. The inks substitute, brilliant. Let's be honest, most of us crafters get as much fun and satisfaction out of the purchasing and hoarding of crafty stash as we do out of using it. That's if we actually use the beautiful papers and ephemera that we buy.😊❤ A lovely little, practical journal, made with love. TFS❤ ✍️⭕🤦♀️😂😘
😂 “People on their high horses” I call all handmade journals ( junk journals) just because I’m in the habit of it, to me, junk journal just means handmade. I don’t have a printer and wouldn’t know how to use it or order digitals that way, I order from people who offer Print & Ship services ( I’m just saying that for the other new to journal making ladies that might be technically challenged like myself) I love video’s that encourage us to use our minds to be creative and not depend on “all the stuff” - Nothing against others who do have all the goodie’s, but to me, that’s the whole point behind (junk journals) it’s not that we have to use junk, it’s thinking out side the box, it’s about how can we use what we have to create something beautiful! ❤ I love all our journal making people, artistic expression and the ones that share there knowledge and skills and ideas with others.
Watching again to support margreth while she gets her health under control. I encourage all fans to watch her old videos to keep her channel humming😊❤
You are so creative . Thank you for sharing ALL of your makes. ❤
This is great! I love all the fancy stuff but sometimes it's nice to go back to basics and remember that you don't need all the fancy stuff to make an awesome journal!
Good morning Margreth it’s your channel you do what you want sweetheart not what others tell you. I love what ever you do BEAUTIFUL 💗
Absolutely agree!
A complete Junk Journaling 101! Brilliant!
JJ = no rules - that's what attracted me to the craft. I don't make anything to sell so what I make is for me. Trust me, not as "pretty" or girly but I enjoy the process. You are always an inspiration to use what I have. Thank you
Good morning Margreth ☕️. People can fall off their high horses 😊
Right into the horse pucky😂
I love how everyone has an opinion of how it "should" be. Ignore them. It can be whatever you want! The first word in junk journal is junk! You are keeping things from land fills and garbage dumps while creating something beautiful!
Was this necessary do you feel superior or inferior. Keep it to yourself
@suzyallen1726 did you misunderstand the joking?
I guess I did sorry. I thought you were insulting margreth
I LOVE where you said, "It's been so long since I've used ordinary junk." I guess what I've seen is you making extraordinary things with "extraordinary junk"!! The shiny thread IS embroidery floss. I get such a kick out of you saying your sewing machine is not a friend because I certainly can relate.
I gave my best friend 2 patterns of exactly the same apron, a coupon to pick out fabric (for me to pay for) AND a coupon for her to teach me how to use the sewing machine … we’ve been friends for 34 years so she thought it was funny … I am dead serious! TFS.

Oh my goodness. When I think you can’t excel any further.. boom! This is absolutely outstanding. Thank you so very much. It’s fabulous
Wow, now people has no excuses anymore! 😊 The distressing alternative methods are mindblowing, wow! Your videos are always so inspiring 😊

Would love the faux postage stamp project! Love the eclectic style journal and finding images that are not going to duplicated massively.

Great ideas 💡. I love hearing the rain, got to hear plenty of it as hurricane Helene passed by, I was on the wet side so had tons of feeder bands.
Thanks Margreth! I've sent several newbies to both your videos on making a budget journal. So many ideas packed into them❤These are both super helpful to newbies and also a nice refresher for seasoned journalers.
This was so much fun. I do have "all the stuffs" and real junk journals are a little outside my comfort zone, but maybe I could do this.
Margreth making mixed media mess. 😲😅

These are fabulous tips. I've had trouble figuring out what to do for ephemera. This is SO helpful. Thank you so much!❤❤❤
It turned out very nice. I enjoyed the process. I had just started a journal with junk mail, so this was perfect timing. I am doing great making ephemera but struggling to complete a journal. Thanks Margreth
That was a great tutorial for anyone without formal supplies, and very close to how I started making journals. Good job!😍
We have an AliExpress here in Omaha, Nebraska. I was hoping they had an on site store but no, it’s just a warehouse. I am enjoying this series
Your junk journal is so cute! It was a lot of fun watching you make it!!! Can't wait until Sunday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Amazing again. Yes to making postage stamps. I don’t have any and I’m not sure what to use.
Wat leuk Margreth! Ik heb je heel lang niet gevolgd maar ga gezellig alles terug kijken. Fijne week!
Hi lieverd 😘
Distress metal washers like you get at a hardware store. Those would work great around a hole on a tag!
For the circle page edges, it would be really cool to put the glue only on the middle of the circle then you have a bunch of tuck spots! You could tuck a lot of little things or use it to hold larger cards too!
👍🏻😁
