I live in North Vancouver, Canada - Zone 7/8. Third year of plant and this year it is at its best. Survives -15c. Does best without watering or fertilizer.
wow, these guys grow all over the place.
This plant won me over when I purposely didn't water it to pull out this year (for 1 year I didn't water it). It came back stronger than ever this year hahaha just with rainfall. The plant officially won me over. So I planted 4 more. I am in Lancaster CA where it gets 105 degrees in the summer and 20 degrees in the winter. This is a very resilient plant. I highly recommend for low maintenance and water requirements
Yep, super resilient. I am glad it is working out for you.
I never water mediterranean plants. they all do fine.
THANK YOU...
Yaaay! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for showing how to get more growth. What time of year should it be cut back? I am on the CA central coast.
usually late winter, before the spring growth. So, you might be just in time....hopefully, not too late, but I think it's okay.
Yum edible or no?
These are totally edible, but you need to be careful for the natural latex if your are allergic. Also, they are only perfectly ripe for a super short timeframe (like just a few days), so you need to get the timing right.....sort of trial and error to your liking.
Ok to smudge burn?
Sure. however, this is not a true Salvia "sage" so it's a little different than the White Sage smudges. As far as I know, it is not dangerous to "smidge" this, it might even be easier to collect the leaves and make the smudge-cigar. Has cultural medicinal properties mostly as teas and oil concoctions.
