"A great B-Movie with an A-pic budget, The Blob is back with a vengeance." - Variety
The Blob is back in this horrific tale about a vile, malignant life-form that crashes to Earth in a cozy, rural American town called Arborville. Untroubled by conscience or intellect, the Blob does only one thing - and it does it well. It eats anything and everything that moves: men, women, and children. And tonight it wants to swallow the town of Arborville. The original version of The Blob thrilled and terrified audiences back in the 1950s. Now the oozing, gooey killer is back with a whole new high-tech look. What was once only suggested now comes to life with state-of-the-art special effects in the tradition of such thrilling remakes as The Thing and The Fly.

His life sure went down the drain now didn't it?
It sure did.
Terrible joke but funny
Better put a stopper to that. ♡ T.E.N.
Had no idea that he could sink so low.
I know right?, that must have absolutely sucked.
This freaked me out SO BAD when I was a kid....
It still do for me even though I'm 22 now lol🤷🏾♂️😱
Tell m me about it although, critters was worse 4 me! Ugh!! Those paranah teeth!
Only this part? The WHOLE MOVIE freaked me out so bad when I was a kid!
I saw that movie when I was 8 years old. That did scare the living poop out of me. Now im 42 years old.....
SAME!!!! It actually made me a little sick 😆😝
My 1st job was as a dishwasher at Shoneys. Everytime the sink clogged this scene ran through my head lol.
That’s just brutal a blob forcing pulling you down the drain that quick must of dissolved his body in seconds as he got pulled
Or it horribly mutilated him, since his arm is up to his feet.
@@re1010 It's still to much body mass to go down that quickly so likely he was dissolved almost instantly. It probably went inside dissolving him from the inside out like it did to the girl in the car.
@@depwater12 the blob did clearly not have normal power so it´s not strange at all, it´s all about the power
@@depwater12 it was not dissolved that quick otherwise the drain would not have changed form, you can literally see his head in the drain and the head was the first part that got pulled down
If this was a different creature his head wouldn't even fit down the train but the blob starts digesting anything it touches so when he was nice and soft it was easier to get him down the drain
You can't get a potato sides rock down your drain but if you had a rotten potato it would be soft enough to cram it down your drain
I love the subversion of expectation where you think the blob is gonna grab onto the guy’s arm and pull him in like any other horror movie, but then instead the blob fucking launches out of the drain and onto his fucking face!
Yeah 💯👍 lol you could say it Really Sucked being the guy lol wouldn't you agree?
There are loads of amazing special effects in this movie - a true genre gem.
The sink wanted some head. An her tounge grabbed him
Agreed and this Blob remake is my number one favourite movie of all time too
Wonder if there is a making of documentary 🤔
When I watched this movie as a kid and saw this scene I was terrified of drains. I couldn't put my hand down a drain at all and watching others gave me really bad anxiety. I'm not that way now but oh man was I terrified. Watched this movie when I was 7 years old.
@@meznakahara ? because I just don't? Not everyone on UA-cam has to post videos or show our playlists.
nice to know I wasn't the only one!
We were all scared as kids by this.
Thats why these movies were always terrible for kids. Looking back we would all have been better off without horror movies as kids. For some idiotic reason my family went to see Halloween 3 in the theaters when i was just 10 years old. My kids have never seen one horror movie in their lives and they are now in their teens. Better off that way. Who the hell needs all that anxiety?!
Same
incredible special effects. 1988? wow
Shouldn't be surprised. Best decade for special effects
Unparalleled.
teach me please
Take that shark movies
In 1988 they had Technologies fucking 30 40 years Ahead. Which would be what we have now.. 2021.. Its probably 50 60years ahead.. ++ it keeps growing
This scene traumatized me as a kid. Glad to see it's just as gross as I remember.
Damn george kinda thicc
I love the sound fx on this. You can hear George’s bones breaking as he’s being pulled down, but they don’t show you anything except little snip bits.
This is terrifying when u hear his face bust being forced through the drain hole and look how big he is. It means when he was being pulled down he was being digested really fast. Brutal to the core
@frankdeleon4209 Actually a little worse than that. See with Paul the Blob was able to pull away parts of him as it dissovled him, thus expousing more flesh to consume in the process. It's why his jaw just kind of fell away in mere seconds once it really began to digest him. With poor George here, the blob couldn't really do the same thing so easily becasue of the small diameter of the pipe, which limited it's ability to expose new flesh to consume. So instead it opted to make use of the confined space it was in to help process George by litterially crushing him into a paste.
This is why you can observe at 1:44 bits of red shooting up to splatter George's reaming shoe and why at 1:46 the side of the pipe suddenly bulged out, which is then immediately followed by red liquid shooting out of the joint of the pipe at 1:48. That's not bits of the blob coming out of the pipe at that point, that's finely crushed George shooting out. This is also the reason why it takes about 9 seconds for the blob to emerge from the pipe after sucking Geroge's leg down the pipe at 1:51. It was taking that time to mostly finish up consuming and growing from the George puree. Yes, the Blob is digesting him the entire time it's in contact, but the space of the pipe is limiting the rate at which it can do that, hence the crushing him into puree.
Also if you observe when the Blob comes out of the sink, you can see that for the most part it's flowing surface is smooth. However, there are some parts of its being that appear to have chunks within it and at 2:00 you can clearly see that there is an almost rod in the middle there that the rest of the Blob is flowing around/over. That is most likely what's left of the leg that was sucked down the pipe mostly intact mere seconds eariler. This is further supported by the fact that when it cuts to a zoomed in shot of the Blob at 2:02, its appearence is more nodular and lumpy rather than having apparent chunks imbedded inside of it.
And that's why your supposed to use Drano instead of a plunger. 😂
That would be hilarious if that was the thing that killed The Blob... Draino, the blob killer. Available at all major retailers!
@@snoopywriter3643 Technically that should work, as it dissolves anything that is organic.
Bad thing about liquid drain openers though is that they're bad for the plumbing. Besides, that was a sink plunger. It's the black plunger that goes in toilets since it's got the sleeve that folds out from underneath. Rob Schneider had one like it in Deuce Bigalow.
The scariest part is when they use a plunger on a sink drain
And even more to the fact it's a sink in a restaurant for goodness sakes they serve food out of there
That's a sink plunger not a toilet plunger, there a diffrents
@@holo133 which of course we know would be the black plunger. Lol!😂 In fact when i was like, 2 or 3,I used to think the red plunger was the only way to fix the sink, tub, shower, etc.
@@holo133 there's also a difference. Haha
@@MyWillowcat it's kinda like if you saw the movie, Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo, you'll find Rob Schneider using a black plunger to try to rescue a pet fish that got flushed down the toilet.
Probably the shittiest way of going
I should be horrified but I can't stop laughing at how over-the-top brutal that was. Death by sink, lol.
Wow, The effects were actually really good back then.
CGI ruins everything now. This was pure effects.
“That’s gotta hurt!” - George Costanza
The most disturbing thing about this was that damned twitching hand....
Oh gosh when I first saw this my heart started beating so hard
LOL 😂 well guess the guy doesn't have to worry about washing anymore dishes lol it was actually kinda funny looking wouldn't you agree?
@@donaldsteven7592not when ur a kid. Actually nah it's not funny
People: What’s the scariest movie you have ever watched that the antagonist brutally kills people?
Normal People: Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13
Me: Beware of The Blob, it creeps And leaps and glides and slides Across the floor Right through the door And all around the wall A splotch, a blotch Be careful of The Blob...
I'm sure anyone that has ever watched The Blob got traumatized and scared, there wouldn't even be a contest
This bit destroyed my life when I was a kid, I couldn't unsee it 🤮😰😫 first time watching it since then...it still made me jump 🤣
Getting your entire body pulled a sink drain that's got to hurt
By the time his head was in he would be dead. His brain crushed
Well at least the sink was unstopped 😮😳
Creative death
YOU'RE GOING TO BRAZIL
Immediately they just discovered it’s weakness
The freezing cold of course
That's what he gets for gets for trying to plunge the Blob. Got what he deserved.
Is there any bts footage showing how they did this effect? Its mighty impressive.
OH MY GAWD!!!!!! RIGHT?!?! I’ve been scouring the internet for years trying to find bts pics of how they did it. Closest I’ve come to finding it is on Good Bad Flicks. No photos but Cecil explains that they used a mannequin head and shoulders. The sound of his head collapsing makes me shudder every time! Absolutely love this film!!
ua-cam.com/video/HL1knEirJXY/v-deo.html hope this helps shed some light on it for ya.
The blob just experienced what it is like to drink a milkshake at McDonald's
See, I'm like her. I won't use those corrosive, poisonous liquid drain openers but in this case I would've made an exception!
that scene produced a trauma to me as a child since I was afraid of drainage and washing my hands was torture for me since I was afraid that the same thing will happen to me
LOL 😂 well guess the guy doesn't have to worry about washing anymore dishes lol it's actually kinda funny looking wouldn't you agree?
Even REMAKES done in the 80’s are better than anything hollywood is churning out now. Serious though, this was as good an update as was The Fly!
To be fair, horror remakes were typically peak quality in the 80s. It's uncommon to find horror remakes better than the original now but the ones back then. This, The Fly, The Thing, even classic Invasion of the 'Snatchers even though technically 70s
Someone's gonna need a professional plumber after this.
LOL 😂 Yeah and hey at least the Woman survived 💖🙋 because You Women never Deserve it!! But that guy lol the Blob was just showing him how Much he Sucked 😥☠️ LOL pretty funny looking wouldn't you agree?
I thought George's feet were prettier the first time I watched it. But they look so nasty on this scene...
Still dare to wash dishes now
I love the guy’s confidence. I haven’t seen this movie or the original, but I would really like to check both out.
This reminds me of a part in an old Graham Masterton novel I read as a kid, where a woman gets her head pulled into the sink by her hair. Nasty.
1:23
That made me jump
Watched it as a kid. That was intense.
What horrifying is you don't see what happens to his shoulders. But if we look, his (remaining) arm is up to his feet and the sink is coated in gore. So what I can imagine is he essentially got ground up before the blob finally dissolved him, especially when you can hear a cracking noise as he's pulled in.
Also, interesting detail, is before he puts his hand in the drain, you can see a condom come of the drain(very briefly). That may be because earlier, the blob consumed a victim with condoms on him.
Directed by the man who gave us A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and The Mask. 🌪💚
Always loved Freddy Kruger.
You killed me with “The Mask”
@@JustinTimeForParties He did the movie and yes it's pretty surprising since he's done some scary movies in the 80's like as mentioned Dream Warriors, The Blob and he wrote and produced Dreamscape.
@@tonymata8070 he also directed "last house on the left","the people under the stairs',the serpent and the rainbow" and "my soul to take"
@@Tacticalairstrike444 No, that's Wes Craven. He did help produce and write some elements for Nightmare on Elm Street 3 but he didn't do The Blob, the director behind this film is Chuck Russell the man who directed Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and would later do The Mask and The Scorpion King.
He sure got that sinking feeling
The business really went down the drain after that. How tragic
Wow, Sponge Blob was terrifying at that moment...
And this is why I love all horror movies. And once in a while I scare my sisters.
The way that monster forced the head to fit… that always reminds me of the American education system
I guarantee a lot of families saved money on their water bills after watching this scene...
Still the reason I won't stick my face directly over a blocked or gurgling plug hole years later as an adult.
when i was a kid, i watched this movie in theatre and come back to my home, when ever i am using toilet i am always scared. LOL, old times.
No one talking about how George has two left feet at 1:41
His leg got twisted up I'm sure lol unless the producers just missed that during production.
No, the foot with the shoe is a right foot and the foot without is a left foot
Run for your life! IT’S THE APPETIZER!!!!
Hiding the freezer
Im 27, have watched countless horror films. This scene got me all different flavors of fucked up.
I had a sinking feeling about this
I just commented about this scene on a TikTok video. If you’re reading this you found me 🤙
Huh, I just noticed something about this scene if you play it at 0.25 speed at the time George gets his face grabbed. The psudo appendage the blob forms is at first kind of pale but then after a moment the pink color rushes upwards.
This scene is definitely worthy of The Golden Chainsaw thats for sure.
1:24 Yoink
I like how they just leave the other woman behind
The dude was actually telling her to go with them but she didn't listen and just stood there looking at the fucking thing but I don't blame her. Everybody would be paralyzed through immense fear and shock by watching your buddy getting killed like that and then seeing the horrible thing that killed him
This is how mario and luigi came to the mushroom kingdom.
The part where it cut to the guys head being pulled into the drain scared me…and I also might need to change my pants from that 😀💩
Let this be a lesson to you kids! Stay in school or your life will go down the drain…..literally!!
They should make a survival horror game for the blob.
That's an amazing idea!
When I was a kid I watch this movie. One night while brushing my teeth I dropped the cap to the toothpaste down the sink and I think it's still there
I watched it with whole family in childhood...
Used to play with used chewing gum under my school bench with small paper humans.
Kinda the same but with play-doh xD
@@famirodriguez8301 LOL hey at least the Woman survived 💖🙋 because You Women never Deserve it!! But that guy LMAO the Blob was just showing the guy how Much he Sucked 😥☠️ LOL pretty funny looking wouldn't you agree?
its scary when im a kid :o
Imagine a second of confusion, and the next instant, the lights go out. You can't breath. Your face is melting and being pulled with a strength your entire body can't match. You're being choked and gagged from the inside through your nose and mouth. Not to mention, the instant sensation of your face and throat are being devoured alive via acidic digestion. And then your body gives into the Blob's overpowering strength and your head is yanked, face first, into a solid stopping point; but that's where your thoughts and comprehension end for good as your head is being broken down chemically and brutally down a sink drain. Beyond that point, the Blob is consuming you like a chunky human smoothie.
All this in less than 30 seconds!
Cool huh? 🤷🏽♂️
Thanks, I hate it..
Probably better than the fellow in the hospital or the projectionist in the movie theater at least
@@LordofMovies91 oh for sure dude! This was an unintended mercy kill.
Yeah, like I've mentioned, God thing he went head first cause his brain was instantly crushed.. so I would think of was quick death.
But if the somehow the blob got him feet first, he's going to feel a lot more
top notch acting , lady :)))))
Aaaaaand that’s why you use liquid plumber instead of a plunger.
Only in this case you do.
Liquid drain openers can damage pipes.
This what he gets for being helpful 😂
Yeah 💯 LOL definitely and the Blob helping himself to a yummy 😋 meal wouldn't you agree?
Lol!
My father forced me to watch scary movies when I was little while my mom went to work because in his mind I had to get used to it and she couldn't stop him. I watched this when I was 4 years old and a few days later he decided it'd be funny to reenact this scene and pretend his arm was getting sucked in the drain. After I started screaming and crying my mother comforted me as my father proceeded to laugh while holding his ribs and literally peeing his pants. She yelled at him but it didn't stop him from making me watch scary movies for the following years to come. The Blob is now my favorite movie and now that I'm older I laugh at the situation because my Mom yelled at him while he was crawling on the floor laughing and wetting himself. Best prank he pulled and best remake ever 💜
it so typical nothing happens when the woman trying to fix.. so typical the guy get eaten.. besides the female phone booth scene there no any good female gore..
What got me as a kid..was that drain pipe bulge with oozing blood..
How did they do these effects? I don't think CG was quite advanced enough yet.
Wow 1988?
Dame it was like the first blob from the first movie was working out. How strong it that amoeba
That's what you call, master plumbing..
Can you imagine the strength you must have to pull down a grown man down a drain
1:22 that scared me
George's Head Turned Purple When He Went in the Sink.
He should’ve listened to that sinking feeling he had in his gut
But his guts not crushed
Whoa, it's Bunny from Platoon. o_O
So this is why all my life I felt traumatized lol
One min you on top of the world, then it all goes down the drain a min later....poor George.
Solid effects in this flick, telephone booth, also great.
we just go froget that his head whant first
@1:27 - Head being crunched down the drain.
That thing moves fast asf lol
I was searching this movie forever, i remember this scene!, was so fucking scare as a kid, i was scare even for go to the bathroom because of it.
The Blob
What exactly was he going to do with that hook?
Phewww I’m from Saudi Arabia BUT STILL THATS SCARY😭😭😭😭
Eu assisti este filme na epoca de 1988 achei muito bom.
To this day I never put my hand down a clogged sink
Can't even wash the dishes in Ohio💀
His head being squeezed into the sink drain always traumatized me as a kid. Along with the scene with Eddie's mutilated body rising from the water in the sewer.
Çocukken vhs de izlemiştim aklımda kalan tek sahne buydu :)
the glob is like slime but alive
The 80's movies rock not like today with the 2020 soft crap movies. Seems the actress just wants to be famous, and rich, and keep us middle class boring watching their crappy movies.
Now that is terrifying
Definitely won’t happen in real life of course
First apartment memories.
After 30 yrs I still have trauma from that scene :P
