I unironically want Soul Metal to become a thing.
That would be my favorite genre
Legitimately. Look up the South of the Grapevine video with Slayer and Marvin Gaye.
Old school soul and metal are two of my favorite genres. Would definitely love to see em combined
Kings X has some soulful vocals they aren't super heavy or anything though.
SOUL METAL!
This would blow Ozzy's mind.
He'd get confused about which group he was in.
Best comment so far. 💃
Man, so funny hahaha
He's not that ancient yet
I think he already forgot.
Yes! He'd be screaming 'Sharon!!!'
I love how Sabbath is playing, The Temptations are singing, and Ozzy is there happy just dancing and thowing stuff to the crowd
As thr hype man he was and kinda still is
I can recommend a good optometrist that's not Ozzy Osbourne that's Ronnie James Dio
@@eddieschwab864 I can't recommend books to be funny, but I know you might find some online 👍
I’m thinking those pics were from the first Cal Jam. (I went to the second one, at OMS. Was probably the only person there not “on” something - but then again, talk at the time was “give Dennis drugs, and he’ll act *Normal.”)*
Typical Ozzy. He's just as much a fan as us

Great Scot!
Well sure. They will be more open, being unfamiliar with either the Temptations or Black Sabbath, and approach is with no preconceived notions about it.
Almost to 500...every time I tried to re-like it, it took back the first one 😬
That clean cut 60s audience digging Sabbath is a sight to behold.
MetalMan73100 my favorite thing about this video is the clean ass people jamming along to Black Sabbath 🤘
I had a teacher in the ‘80’s who saw Hendrix open for the Animals in the ‘60’s.
He told me everyone just sat there in theater seats with their mouths hanging open like “wtf did we just see” and were too stunned to clap when he was done.
That Sabbath footage looks like it came from ABC In Concert, which came on right after the 10 (or 11) o'clock news on Fridays, back in the mid-70s - it was on opposite the Midnight Special on NBC.
it was like that in the beginning in fact
@@mikelord9860 that footage was from the California Jam in 1974

The footage makes it seem like these two songs are from different eras, but these two are only five years apart!
In terms of pop music, 5 years is an eternity, specially during those times.
Yeah. Things were changing fast back then.
@@leonardotube Pop music in the past 5 years hasn't changed much. Back then it was a very different matter though.
@@LordVader1094 The rising influence of trap in pop and hip-hop in the past five years cannot be overstated. The pop landscape has changed drastically
And technology was changing a lot too.
You made the lyrics go from an excited young man courting a girl he's in love with
to a horrible monster hunting down a terrified woman, possibility to consume her soul.
Bravo sir.
Plot twist: she becomes a metal queen when reborn. 😆

"And the band played on"
Melvin kills me with that line. Perfection!
It's really a testament to Tony Iomi's skill on guitar. No matter who's singing, he is the man.
The dream tour that nobody ever got to see!
There was half a million people at that Sabbath concert in 1974

Jesus approves.... I like it 😊
It works so well because underneath all the heavy metal Black Sabbath has groove! That's what makes them great.
Precisely! 🤘🏻
Children of the Groove!
Exactly. Geezer has called Jack Bruce his #1 influence as a bassist.
Jack Bruce could lay down the groove.
Goddamn the "And the band played on" was heavy. Dude had a killer baritone voice
If you listen closely you'll hear his voice creeping in on other parts of the song too. This literally couldn't be done better
That's a bass voice!
almost sounds like he's throat singing
Melvin was a bad man
I get the giggles everytime that drops!
Its crazy how well thier harmonies match that connecting riff
Kelso's The Report they sure do!
Not really. Most modern music has similar structures. Try this with Beethoven.....
@@deskducker I meant crazy as in cool, not crazy as in inconceivable. I know they must be in the same key to match and similar time signatures to be able to fit the way they do in terms of timing. Just think its neat how they conglomerate.
I bet it would be quite a challenge to mash up two classical pieces😳

Ozzy said he was a big fan of the Tempts and has 3 autographed albums by them. He said his song "Paranoid" was actually inspired by the Tempt's track "Heavenly"
I was just in a mental hospital and the nurse told me he went to some big festival Black Sabbath played in the 80s
And they went to the bathrooms and on the way saw a guy trying to poop on the ground
It was ozzy and he began to yell at people as they crowded around
And he couldn’t do it like
He couldn’t poop and became angry
It's ridiculous how often this maship gets stuck in my head on a loop when I'm just going about my day. It happens twice a week.... I finally caved and here I am. This is honestly a fucking masterpiece and I've despaired many times that it's not on Spotify.
Oh yes, loving the swing feel to the temptations song
You're not alone. I've have this diddly constantly getting stuck in my head for months now. Especially the "And the band played on.." part lol. Every once in a while I feed it and revisit this song. It's truly a masterpiece.

Seeing the Temptations dancing a classic 60s shuffle to Sabbath metal was a delight for my eyes that I would never imagine could exist. Very well played, sir!
Fun thing is that Bill Ward often plays swing beats and not straight beats.
The mighty Temptations classic five, and the mighty Black Sabbath's classic four lineups. RIP Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, Melvin Franklin, and the late great Paul Williams. We love you and miss you guys.
The clapping was perfect. You win the internet today!!!!!!!
Yes, gotta love the white-bread audience in the Temptations clip all but headbanging to the Sabbath riffs.
Yeah..fucking hillarious.. lol.. the timing was perfect
You have a golden ear, sir.
That he has and a musical perception to cross all genres to make it into a unison of a mixed sound that could have been ,well now has become.
These mashups do so many great things for all of us. Among them, is showing those who may never have known, just how cool the Temptations were back in the day.
Dude all the old stuff is underappreciated. Temptations, Four Tops, Smoky Robinson, etc.. I listened to them with my dad growing up but didn't truly "get it" until I switched from playing guitar to bass. Such good stuff!
Temptation were the Pioneers of Soul Metal!
As a black girl from Motown who recently went down a Sabbath and Danzig hole, this is disgustingly relative to my interests.
Edit: So the next video was Danzig and the Temptations... Subscribed 😭
If you’re still down in the Sabbath hole, make sure that you don’t neglect the post-Ozzy era of Sabbath. There are some phenomenal songs and albums by Black Sabbath that weren’t sung by Ozzy.

Well, it has been established by Psychologists that the genders like to see something of themselves in the opposite sex. Is it any secret that chicks in the 60's climaxed until they passed out at the first Beatles shows?
