For context, Pyramid of Light's effect in the movie was that it banished all God cards when it was activated and prevented them from being summoned. I have no idea why its IRL effect is literally nothing.
Because the god cards hadn't actually been printed as a playable card in OCG or TCG when the card was printed. In fact the first one wouldn't be printed till 4 years after the movie was released.
@TheWinterPhoenix We didn't have Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon yet either but they still gave us Shining Dragon. They could have just given it the effect even if it did nothing on release.

Anubis' Sphinx cards are so bad that even in the movie meant to showcase them, and where they have buffed effects, Anubis loses in 2 turns.
Ironically, they are pretty beefy maindeck beaters that can be cheated out in Melffy of all things.
In the film, Yugi didn’t use the Sphinx- they were the villain’s cards.

Anubis and Kaiba played Pyramid of Light. Atem spent most of the movie’s duel failing to try to out it allowing himself to get decked out in the process
Literally tried to out it once and it succeeded.
@@andrasvagasi4877 Kaiba failed at outing it, and the only reason Atem could out it was because Mutou Yuugi hit it with the handle of a knife.
I still remember that time when I was young and I saw Mr. Yugioh summon The Pyramid of White using Andrew Stinks.
Your first mistake was not playing Nemleria to search the beasts

Make em an extra deck boss with modern design sensibilities that can only be summoned if teleia and andro were destroyed this turn by the effect of pyramid of light, and then make that card absurdly powerful because you would have to be a complete maniac to put teleia, andros and pyramid of fucking light in your main deck

Honestly, you are better off just using the 2 Sphinxxes instead of the big idiot. They are big and fairly easy to get out and don't really have any other issues beyond the inability to attack the turn they are summoned.
Played this in a dead/rat deck for the event and had a good time.
This event was great. A monthly time wizard format would be awesome. That way I would consider investing in banned URs

I'm actually planning on making a deck using all but Theinen for an even *BIGGER* big bungus. I considered using the Roofied Loli archetype card that can summon them from deck but I don't think it's the right play.
The melffy card can use sphinx monsters I forgot which melffy that does it but since all three are beasts there search targets
next table 500 needs to be just entire variations of this decks win con. It would be a great chuckle.

The pyramid of light movie is nostalgia for me. I remember watching it as a kid but later I found out how bad the monsters from that movie turned out to be.
Then there's me that use these 3 monsters in a melffy deck build.

I remember I used to be so obsessed trying to summon those cards back on the ps2 and ds. I even used to turbo shining dragon a couple years ago only for a beat stick bc who actually will ever activate a card that targets these day 😂
I remember trading my Shining Dragon for the three Sphynxs. Still don't know if that was a good trade or not

My headcanon of why these cards are so bad is that, given how the movie was created by Konami TCG, the OCG didn't allow them to create cards that weren't part of a product that could shift the metagame
