The Coal Township Fire Dept. Station 120 (The Purple Demon) was dispatched to a vehicle fire off road at the roundhouse on the South end of Shamokin St.
Units arrived to a fully involved vehicle that had spread to the mountain near the vehicle. Weather conditions (red flag warnings) were PERFECT for what occurred next. The progressed at a rapid pace UP the mountain and Northeast. There are residential neighborhoods there with no real protection.
From this point the REAL fight was on. With the wind driving the fire FAST we took positions to try and stop it We were overrun and outrun several times.
What I was able to video came at some HECTIC times with fire ALL around us, and then lulls when we had DCNR aircraft doing drops right on us or VERY close to us.
