Check out their song ascensionism next! If you enjoy that one as well then you have to keep going lol but their most beautiful song im my opinion is Bloodsport (from the room below) by them. Its just him singing raw while playing piano. Its not a gory song lol its a song about loving too harshly essentially

Sleep Token is amazing. The entire “Take Me Back To Eden” album is a story and concept driven album… and it’s a masterpiece. This song had the lyrics “It was no accident. We were tangled up like branches in a flood” which hearkens back to the song “Chokehold”. A previous (and really awesome) track on their current album. You should definitely check out “Chokehold”, “The Summoning”, “Ascensionism”, “Granite”, “Aqua Regia” well… the whole album… and their back catalogue too. 😆 They are an incredibly talented and unique band making music at a totally different level than most bands these days.
Pro tip: when listening to Sleep Token, take what you think of musical genres, and throw it out the window. 😎😎

This is the second to last song of the 3rd album in an album trilogy - Sundowning, This Place Will Be Your Tomb, and the title track you just listened to
It's all Vessel's story, as far as we're aware, and has a mostly chronological narrative of emotions for him to convey and express his interpretations of
If you make your next song The Night Does Not Belong To God and go down this rabbit hole, you might not be disappointed!
They also have two EPs plus a few singles outside of this that are equally good in my opinion, and if you would rather take the band chronologically, you could listen to the EP One, then the EP Two, and finally the singles Jaws and The Way That You Were before you start Sundowning with TNDNBTG
(I am a mega fan and I don't believe they have a single bad song, I even love the few covers they've done)
Also after you finish Sundowning, make sure you check out the deluxe edition for some of those covers, including a bonus new song called Shelter which I think fits perfectly before starting the second album
As in other comments, this is a story that has made full circle. The best way to understand it is to start from Sundowning album then TMBTE album. Then you'll understand the story.

Ambient metal has been thrown around. It doesn't fully explain Sleep Token but it does work. Sleep Token has so many great songs. I honestly don't believe they are capable of making bad music.
Lol, I call them Post Scarcity. They are post-pop, post-metal, post-rock, post-ambient, post-R&B...they come from a time when genres no longer matter

It's a three album story, and this is the second last song of the trilogy. The Euclid that follows this one kind provides a kind of eulogy.
There is lore, behind the figures in their newest video's. If you look in the corners there is numbers, if you put them together they lead so a point on a map. The Sleep Token lore rabbit hole go REALLY deep. Lol

I usually have to listen to songs a few times too. The lyrics in this one does say ‘I’m about to bite back in anger’ before the ending and they use the different genres to create the emotions. It’s definitely worth investing time in the replays 😊

You are correct indeed. The genres are an intentional choice by the writers of this song. In general, Sleep Token are genre-less and use all of the influences to create their own vibes. Listeners are emotionally manipulated to feel the same emotions as they want you to feel. The only time being emotionally manipulated feels and is good. I think you would benefit and enjoy a deep dive into their trilogy of albums. Sundowning (a reference to symptoms of Alshiemers disease), This Place Will Become Your Tomb, and Take Me Back To Eden. They tell a narrative of sorts and have interconnected ideas and lyrics. This song for example has references to the first song on this album, Chokehold. Enjoy and I would recommend having the lyrics up as you react because they are half of the song.

The figure in the video is more than likely an Angel, considering that the song is talking about Eden. It could be the Angel of Death, as they are often portrayed as being darker, and scarier than most Angels.
If the genre-bending is something you enjoyed then listen to "Ascensionism" by them.
If you didn't love the genre-bending then listen to "Chokehold" or "Alkaline".

This could be using the symbology of the Angel of Death as Eve (see apple in the left hand) gone bad or a representation of the woman who hurt Vessel. Who knows?🙂

Alternative R&B Metal. And I'm not saying it's Alternative music, but rather Alternative R&B, which is its own thing. Add in the metal and you get Alternative R&B Metal. That's as close as I can get to accurately giving them a genre. But we're in the age of the mono-genre anyway and they never really mattered to begin with. If you like it, cool.
It’s pronounced Eee den Inna, one of the English idiosyncrasies! It’s a very interesting song, subject to interpretation! I’m pretty sure that the angel is the angel of death, it’s carrying a sickle in it’s hand which suggests that’s the case!
Having done a bit of research it’s about the end of a relationship, so the angel is not related to death literally, it’s more to do with the relationship.

They don't fit in a genre to be honest with you, once you listen to more of their music you'll definitely see that. You should definitely check out The love you want. The music video for that song is BEAUTIFUL!
This is my first time listening to this band. For me it is too complicated for complication sake. The multiple genres mixed into one song doesn't do it for me even though there are plenty of other bands who have done it as well and I do love. The soft and silent intro part could have been way shorter in my opinion and it being repeated made me lose interest in the song after it had sparked interest by the heavy part which made me think the song had really started. Perhaps it does need to grow on me as well. The singer has a great voice, without a doubt. Love your reaction.
It’s unexpected but grows on you… after a few listens it seems normal and traditional song structures come across as a bit simple…
I recommend you check out their older stuff. This song works best when you already know the band, it isn't the best one to start with

I really liked them when I first heard them, but for some reason, I've sort of gotten tired of them pretty quickly. Not to say they're bad, they're an interesting group with plenty of talent. Just not for me.

The cross pollinating of music types is becoming more common, it sounds amazing if done right. This is truly what it means to be progressive musically, when it can't be put into any box or category. Art is supposed to have an emotional effect on those it touches without rhyme or reason.
Sometimes the effect art has is subtle and not drastic, effecting your overall mood, just a nudge.
