Claire is a rare exemplar of this sort, thus a real gem. Jamie is more of a classic masculine type, with a touch of sensitivity we came to see mainly in the 20th-21st centuries.
i'm confused.. she said claire doesn't see herself as a feminist but as an equal. isn't feminism literally supposed to be about EQUALity? i don't get it
Maybe when she said " not conciously" meaning like a feminist who joins a group or maybe even start a feminist group, holds marches and protest on feminist issues, set up a headquarter and shoves it to society..Claire's strong will and assertiveness wasn't built on pushing for a feminist agenda but more of an individual right to choose, decide and take action based on her principles.
She simply means that Claire doesn’t see herself as a woman needing to prove herself nor demand the respect from men. Whereas a feminist seems to have that agenda in their mind thinking it as a cause. Catriona Balfe doesn’t view Claire as a feminist, and it makes sense, and I can see where she’s coming from.
Feminism wasn’t really prevalent during the times where she worked on her career. It was equality for the sake of it, but not an agenda per se. I would definitely see Brianna as a feminist because it was more prevalent when she cane of age.
I think there are some women (I count myself in the numbers) that believe in equality, female empowerment, strength and autonomy without necessarily adopting the label of feminist. Maybe that is what she means.
It makes about as much sense as a woman with claire's mindset deciding to consciously stay in a century before women rights were a thing, where she has been almost sexually assaulted more than once and is constantly disrespected, and leave everything , her entire life, behind, all for a man she knew for just six months at the moment of making that choice.

Faith was the first baby but she was born as a miscarriage. During the preparations for the battle of Culloden Claire got pregnant again of her second baby. Brianna was the second one and she was born after claire returned to the fourties again. If you watch all the episodes it will become clear

Cait can wear a sack of potatoes and still look gorgeous. This is an Italian designer's dress and she's advertising it for him. She was and still is one of the high fashion designers' darling who still want to work with her even if she no longer does runways. She is still in demand for magazine photoshoots but only does it occasionally with photographers she likes from her modeling years.
